Scanty&Kneesocks
wow that's fast; congrats so far. Still in the process of setting up footage. (I'm a quality whore so I probably won't even start the AMV for like 2-3 days).
Ghoulish
lol thx, yea lukily most of the vids I have are a pretty good qualty, but i'm using the new Windows Live movie maker that's supposed to be "Better" and "Easier" but it's worse, to cut clips short you have to edit it where as with the old one you simply clicked on it and dragged the ends, also it has limited effects eg: No slow Motion. What Anime are you doing it on?
-Griffin
If I can find some half-decent video-editing software, I might try this. I've got some songs I've been dying to make a Haibane Renmei video to. Interestingly enough, I think it'll be the first time said song appears on Youtube. Yay for obscure songs. Kuri
Windows Movie Maker if you want. It doesn't have to be expert like.
-Griffin
I have standards. WMM is pretty rubbish. Is there any video equivalent of GIMP? Hang on, I'll PM Yin. Seems likely to know if such a thing exists and if so which are good.

Sony Vegas (my program of choice). + Cheaper of the choices (assuming you don't download) + Accepts more video codecs than WMM and any low-end ever will. Even more than premiere + Tons of in-standard effects; plugins; and variety to make your own effects. + Simple interface + Takes up less resources than Premiere - Not as much capability as premiere pro(+After Effects) but premiere has godly amount of stuff you can do -/+ Doesn't accept .MKV and a few other codecs but you should never be editing with them anyways. - Doesn't accept unsigned audio codecs (anything that's improperly encoded. You'll know when you highlight and there's no information about it like bitsize.) Premiere Pro(+After Effects) + Effects Effects Effects. If you can imagine it you can probably do it, and masking is so much easier than any other thanks to tracking motion. (There might be a plugin for vegas I dunno) + Accepts unsigned audio codecs + Looks awesome honestly + More versatile in freedom while in Vegas you need to be creative or use Photoshop. - Hard to learn - weird interface - After Effects is kind of a ***** to get used too. Window Movie Maker - Crashes often - Uses up a lot of resources - not many effects you can do(and almost no effects that are useble without looking like s***; only the transition effects are viable.) - Crappy rendering - Won't accept most codecs - Freezing everywhere - Sucks with importing video footage, expect to take an hour to import something where vegas/premiere it's simply dragging onto the line. If you have any questions about making AMVs feel free to ask I should be able to help. (PM me Griffin and I'll give you link for Vegas but if you want premiere a few google search should work.) Cin
I've been waiting to get Sony Vegas or a better program from my mum's friend's son for about a year. I haven't been amving for about 2 years...
Scanty&Kneesocks
that sucks . I'm the opposite; I had the programs but I haven't made an AMV in like 2 years lol; never had the will and time.
Ghoulish
i dunno why the hell they wrecked windows moview maker (although it wasn't really that great) it was still better then now, they claim "it's easier" I actually find it harder and so s***. [/quote] I recommend NOT using window movie maker(it was terrible whichever way lol). Not saying you can't make any AMVs but it's like painting with feces. It'll take a lot longer and you have to be creative but it's possible; Even if you make something presentable people are still going to ask "why are you using ****?". Short version: It's not very good; you should upgrade for your own sake(WMM is aggravating to use).
Ghoulish
so the sony vegas one? Is it a free download?
Scanty&Kneesocks
sadly no it cost quite a bit(unless you buy an older version which is still pay but cheaper.) There's other ways but it's not the most legal method so I'm not posting how.
Scanty&Kneesocks
Bump there's only 7 days left; I hope you guys are completing a good chunk of your AMV by now and enjoying it. Also it's never late for newcomers to join even if you never edited before.

-Griffin
Only 7 days left? I've only got home from NYC to start today. asdfg. No chance I can finish this in time. EDIT: Bugger it. I can't find anywhere to download the episodes now, anyway. Raeg. I'll work on it ~_~ EDIT2: Scrap that. With a bit of luck, this will be done... eventually. :

Scanty&Kneesocks
might be too long for a none-tournament sized contest. I think you just have the time depending until we get a decent amount of members. In fact I might make a tutorial that might implore people to join and make an amv. Kuri
Ok. Extended until we get at least 10 people.
Cin
Scanty I do have a tutorial somewhere, but I did it on the old version of WMM (when I still had it working on my old PC). I could do some basic tutorial if you think that would help, but what Kuri is asking interms of quality is different to the Sound/Quality/Song Intergration/Etc I'm used to. I'd probably enter if I can remember my YT account sign in, either with Learn To Breathe or Rage (which did very well on the last forum I was on)
