Linda looked up from her book at the sound of a duel going on, which considering the subject matter of her book, was really not too much different, just more interactive. Her interest shifting, she wandered over to the sounds of the duelists talking, and to her slight surprise, found two fellow Ra students having a table duel. Without holograms for possible onlookers, she was required to walk closer to see who had the upper hand.

She stood slightly behind the more cocky student and observed the playing field with a thoughtful expression. [i]So Beast of Talwar has Big Bang Shot, yet he used Final Attack Orders?[/i] she wondered silently. [i]Most monsters have more ATK than DEF, so the smartest move against a monster with piercing is to place such monsters in ATK position anyway. Alll his move has done is ensure that HE can't play defensively, either. A facedown card is more worrisome than a faceup card that doesn't help his game situation, and there were plenty better times he could have used that card.[/i]

Intrigued in spite of herself, she sat down at the table without invitation to watch the ending.

"Alright, then I guess it's my turn!" Elliot said as he drew a card. "Alright, now say hello to my Dance Princess of the Ice Barrier in attack mode (ATK:1700)!" A girl appeared on the field, wielding two snowflake chakrams. "Now I'm activating her effect! Since I control another face-up Ice Barrier monster, I can reveal any number of Ice Barrier monsters in my hand to select the same number of your set spell or trap and send it back to your hand. Now I reveal my Sacred Spirit of the Ice Barrier to return that face-down back to your hand!" Elliot explained.

After the face-down was returned to Violet's hand, Elliot continued on with his turn. "Now I'm going to equip the spell Malevolent Nuzzler to my Dance Princess to give it a 700 ATK boost, making its ATK 2400! Now, it's time to battle! First, I'm going to destroy your Putrid Puppet with my Dance Princess!" With more than enough ATK, Dance Princess threw one of its chakram towards Putrid Puppet, and was able to destroy it. "Next, I'll have my Strategist attack your Apprentice Puppeteer!" Strategist aimed and threw his fan towards apprentice Puppeteer, destroying it on contact. The fan then came back to Startegist's hand. "I guess I'll leave it at that. Your turn Violet."

Violet watched as her two cards were destroied, and her face down was returned to her. She remained calm, usig her Apprentance Puppeteer's ability for the finaly time, playing her their Apprentance Puppeteer. It wasn't too strong, but it's a good card to buy some time with. "If you are finished I will draw." Violet frowned not getting the desired card, but at least she could use it.. "From my hand I will play Reload. This card lets me replace my hand in my deck, shuffel it, and then redraw the same amount of cards." Violet did so her drawing five cards. "I will play to face downs, and use one of them. This is called Pupper Charmer. All I have to do sacrifice two cards to activate it." She placed Apprentance Puppeteer, and a card fom her hand in the graveyard. "Now I can special summon Snake Puppet(2800/1500) from my hand or deck." Once again she pulled the cards from her deck. "Unfortnately I cannot attack this turn, so you are safe for now. I will end my turn."

"Alright, it's my turn again." Elliot drew a card from his deck and looked at his hand carefully. "(That Snake Puppet is powerful. More powerful than any monsters I've currently got. But I can get rid of it.)" Elliot thought to himself. "I'm summoning to the field my Sacred Spirit of the Ice Barrier in attack mode (ATK:1600)!" An wise old man wearing a tall and large blue hat appeared on the field. "Since that Snake Puppet is too powerful for me to attack, I'll simply end my turn, but that's not all. Since now it's the end of my turn, my Sacred Spirit's effect activates. Regularly, my Sacred Spirit would be sent back to my hand, but since I control other face-up Ice Barrier monsters, I can instead select a monster on your field and return it to your hand instead. Meaning that you Snake Puppet is off the field!"

A blue aura began to form around Sacred Spirit. Sacred Spirit then held its hand out towards Snake Puppet, causing the blue aura to shoot towards Snake Puppet, making it return back to Violet's hand.

“Don’t forget when my Puppet Charmer is destroyed I gain 1000 life points.” Violet said as she drew her card. “Fine then, I play Pot of Greed. No explanation needed right.” She drew two more cards. [i]Darn…If only I can obtain Puppet World. Then I will win this duel.[/i] Instead she played a face down, “I will play the card Soul Sacrifice. I chose any card with less than 1000 attack points, and put it out of play as long as it is not in the graveyard. The number of stars is then multiplied by 500 and added to my life points.” She showed Elliot ‘Discarded Puppet’, which had 1 star. “Now I will use the card Vengeful Doll, which lets me sacrifice a card to bring one card out of play.” It probably seemed like a redundant move but it was necessary to use Snake Puppet again…Well sort of.

“I will sacrifice Snake Puppet to bring back Discarded Puppet.” She did so. “Try to keep up Elliot because it is quite a bit. The attack, defense and special ability of the sacrificed card become’s Discarded Puppet’s(2800/1500). I will play another face down and once again end my turn.” [i]He is getting rid of my cards before I can attack. I never had to special summon so many cards before, and every time I do I have to wait a turn to attack…[/i] “It is your move Elliot.”

((Just to tell you so you won't make this mistake in future duels. Pot of Greed is now banned so you can't use that card, but I'll let you use it during this duel considering you haven't been playing Yu-Gi-Oh for so long))

Seeing as how it is his turn, Elliot drew his next card and tried to devise a strategy to get rid of Discarded Puppet, but he didn't have any cards with enough ATK to bring down that monster, nor did he have any other cards to help him during this current situation. Elliot was beginning to loose trust in this new deck of his. He felt as though he would've been better off using his old deck instead. "I-I'll switch all of my monsters into defense mode and end my turn...." Elliot said hesitantly. He didn't seem to have any faith in his new deck and would now just try to stall and improvise as long as possible. "(I hope I can get something good in my next turn....)" Elliot thought to himself. All of Elliot's monsters are on the defensive now, and with no spells or traps that can counter, he is wide open for his monsters to be destroyed one by one.

Violet drew her next card which was 'Call of The Hunted'. Just the card she needed to get more monsters onto her side of the feild. "I am going to summon
Posion puppet(500/700) in attack mode, and use his special ability to attack your life points. Now I will play my face down Puppet's Maiden." One of her face down cards stood revealing the spell. Suddenly in one of her slots a puppet in a maid's costume appeared. "Once per turn this card will place a Puppet Maiden token on my side of the field, and as long a I have a token on the field you can't attack any other monster."

"Discarded Puppet take out his Dance Princess." Discarded Puppet hopped up and began a charge for the Dance Princess. When close enough the small puppet jumped and slashed at the Princess. "I will play a face down and end my turn."

Elliot watched as his life points were depleted even further. "Ugh...." Elliot uttered as he was attacked directly by Poison Puppet.

Elliot's Dance Princess was then taken out by Discarded Puppet. Elliot now only had three more monsters on his field to stall before he starts to loose big chunks in his life points. In his mind, Elliot's doubt in his new deck grew even more. But it was strange though. Elliot is usually a positive person, but somehow he's not acting like his normal self. The normal Elliot would never doubt his cards and even if they were new cards, he would still believe in them as if he has been using them for years. "(I-I don't think I can continue.... Why....? No.... I have to continue.... r-right?)" Elliot thought to himself as he looked at his cards. His body also began to shook a bit, as if he was in the middle of someplace very cold.

"M-My turn." Elliot said hesitantly as he drew his card. His body was still slightly shaking. "I'll activate Moray of Greed to send two WATER monsters in my hand back into my deck and draw three cards." Elliot said as he sent his two monsters in his hand to his deck to draw three new cards. "Next I-I'll play a face-down and end my turn." Elliot said hesitantly.

[I]I wonder what is wrong with Elliot. He is convulsing with the shivers....[/i] Violet chose not to say anything figuring that maybe he was nervous. Shaking was a sign of nervousness, or so her book said. With the shake of her head she drew her card and another Maiden token was placed on her field. "I play The Puppet Maker(800/1700) in attack mode, and then equip the spell card 'Spare Parts' to my monster increasing his attack by 500 (1300/1700)."

"Discard Puppet rid the field of his Stratigest-" Her monster attacked quickly destroying Elliot's card.

"-And now my Puppet Maker will attack you Scared Spirit. Bringing up the rear will be my Posion Puppet attacing your life points directly." Violet stared at Elliot still confuse on his behavior. He was very confident in the begining but now he was shaking like a leaf. "Elliot!" Violet yelled for the first time since they started dueling, "Straighten yourself up. Do not become feeble and allow whatever is occuring to take hold of you. Because I will not back down." She wondered if he heard her but she simply ended her turn and put the ball in his court.

Strategist was made quick work of by Discarded Puppet, leaving only two monsters left on the field to defend Elliot's life points from taking huge chunks of damage, but that wouldn't last long, not in Elliot's current condition. Puppet Maker then made its attack, destroying Sacred Spirit. All there was left on Elliot's field was Saboteur and a face-down that Elliot has yet to activate. Then, as Poison Puppet attacked elliot's life points directly, Elliot activated his face-down card. "I-I'm activating my face-down. A trap called Flood Warning. With this card, I can send 1 WATER monster in my hand to the graveyard, and all damage I took this turn is deflected back to you, meaning you take 500 points of damage instead of me." Elliot explained as he sent a card to the graveyard and watched as the damage was reflected back towards Violet.

Hearing Violet's voice, Elliot quickly regained a part of himself and looked towards Violet. "(Why do I feel like this.... I feel like.... I feel like I just want to give up already....)" Elliot thought to himself but continued to persist. "I-It's my turn!" Elliot said as he drew a card. "I'm now going to activate the spell Urgent Action which will allow me to special summon a monster from my hand if I have less monsters than you the two tokens. So now I'll summon to the field my General Grunard of the Ice Barrier in attack position (ATK:2800)!" A man wearing blue armor appeared onto the field. Elliot began to regain his will to duel. "I'll activate my Grunard's effect which allows me to summon or set another Ice Barrier monster this turn, and I'm going to set a monster. Now, Grunard, attack Poison Puppet!" Grunard then sent a giant icicle flying towards Poison Puppet.

"Why are you smiling !"the Ra Yellow complained.

"Because I've just draw an quite good hand, well it's not the best I've gained, but it's good enough for me to win,"Lewis explained."First I Summon [url="http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Jirai_Gumo"]Jirai Gumo[/url] in as you know Attack Postion (2200/100). You must be wondering why I am using such a weak monster, it's not that weak with my Face Down [url="http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Skill_Drain"]Skill Drain[/url], at the cost 1000 of my life points all monster effects are negated (Lewis: 1300 Life Points) so I don't have to worry about my monsters Atk being halved from flipping a coin."Lewis explained looking at the card. [i]Oh wait, isn't it life points being cut from flipping a coin, but then again, who would notice it.[/i]

"So what !?"the Ra once again didn't care,"Your monster is so pathetic that it doesn't matter."

"though I had the Field advantage most of the time, I still lost,"the Ra then frowned, at least he talk, but walked out of the room. Even though it was Big Bang Shot was made him lose.

Lewis turned to the girl who was sat on the table."Did you come here to watch the duel ?"Lewis asked.

Violet winced as her attack was redrected towards her. She wasn't expecting that counter, and was glad that it wasn't her Shadow Puppeteer's attack was sent back at her. Then Elliot went to attack her Poison Puppet but she wasn't about to have that-

“Not so fast Elliot, my Puppet token automatically takes the attack therefore saving my Poison Puppet.” The Puppet token jumped in front of Poison Puppet seconds before the attack hit, instantly being destroyed on contact. “Alright then my move.” Violet drew her card and at the same time another puppet token was added to her side of the field. “I will play the field card Puppet Graveyard-“ Violet played the card and the field morphed into a dark, and foggy cemetery; with broken puppets parts all over the place. “This boost all puppet type cards by 500.”

“Puppet Maker(1800/2200) attack his Saboteur.” Violet made quick work of Elliot’s card and unless he had a counter she continued with her attack. “Now my Discarded Puppet(3300/2000) will attack your Grunard-”

“And my adorable little Poison Puppet taking up the rear and attacking you directly.” [i]I hope he can pull something out of the bag. If not next turn will be his last.[/i]

"(Darn it! I forgot about her tokens.)" Elliot thought in his mind. On Violet's turn, she was able to destroy both his Saboteur and his General Grunard.

Elliot fell to his knees. "Ugh.... I.... I can't do this anymore...." Elliot mumbled to himself as he struggle to get up from the ground. "I only have 1 Set Monster left, and I need to fine a way to get rid of that Poison Puppet, or else it would just keep coming at me with its direct attacks." Elliot said to himself. But what more can he do. He has only 1 set monster left, no spells or traps, and no cards in his hand. "I-I guess it's my turn.... I draw...." Elliot said as he drew his next card. "I play a face-down and end my turn...." Elliot said in a weak voice. Elliot might just have lost his will to duel anymore. But what was causing this in him?

From behind a nearby tree, a male figure stood there hidden by the tree. He had a smirk on his face for some reason, and then, the male figure just walked off.

[I]My time with him may have been miniscule but I am positive that Elliot does not behave in such a way during his duels. Something must be terribly wrong with him.[/i] Violet thought once again hesitating with her turn. She was deeply concerned for Elliot, who was now on his knees and looked like he needed a long rest. Maybe it would be better if they ended the duel now...He didn't look well at all. In the end she decided to draw her card. With a slight glance at his face down Violet said, "Elliot I am finishing this duel now. Discarded Puppet, attack his life points directly." Violet watched as her attacks either hit or failed.

Elliot awoke to find himself in a strange icy cave. "Ugh...." Elliot pulled himself off the cold ground and looked around. "What the....? W-Where am I....?" Elliot asked himself as he looked around the cave. The walls were made completely of ice. Elliot knew that this wasn't the Duel Academy, but he didn't know where exactly is he either. "The last thing I remember was dueling against Violet.... VIOLET!!! COREY!!! ANYBODY!!!!" Elliot shouted. However, the only response he could hear was from his own echoes. Elliot began walking through the cave. He made his way towards a small corridor, and then a hall. Walking through the hall, Elliot felt very cold and he also felt negative emotions.

"Ugh.... What the-" Elliot noticed something frozen onto the icy walls. Elliot walked towards the wall for a closer look, and to his surprise, it was a Duel Monster card, and not just any regular Duel Monster card either. It was an Ice Barrier monster from Elliot's deck, frozen into the wall itself. "Is that, Strategist of the Ice Barrier?" Elliot said. His vision was a bit blurry. Elliot then noticed more cards being frozen within the wall. "Why is this happening?" Elliot continued to walk until he finally reached a large room. At the end of the room, there was a massive door.

The door had carvings of two dragons on it. Elliot couldn't make out what dragons were they. Suddenly, the ground beneath him started to glow in an intense icy blue color. The light was so intense that Elliot had to shield his eyes with his left arm. When the light had disappeared, elliot placed his arm down to see a giant dragon floating in front. "Ugh.... B-Brionac?" Elliot asked. It was indeed Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier floating right in front of him. "Elliot.... I am Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier...." Brionac spoked. Hearing the dragon speaking, Elliot's eyes widened.

It was Violet's turn once again, and she was about to end this duel. Elliot continued to struggle, but suddenly, all of his movements stopped. He became limp and lifeless. Then all of a sudden, Elliot fell to the ground, unconscious.

"Yes, I did," Linda said, a bit distractedly. It was a good move for that boy, to take advantage of Big Bang Shot's disadvantage. "I couldn't help but notice you mentioned Skill Drain will stop Jurai's ATK from being halved but, I'm sorry, I think you meant halving your Lifepoints. Jurai does a coin toss when it attacks, and calling it wrong halves your Lifepoints." She smiled, "Just a slip of the tongue, I think."

She shook herself. "I'm sorry, I'm Linda. I think I sort of get drawn into the games I see, and forget my manners when commenting. You played well, from what I saw. Very nicely done."

Discarded Puppet was only seconds away from landing the finishing blow to Elliot, but what happened next caused Violet to yell, "Cease the attack!" Elliot had suddenly collasped with no cause or reason. At least not one Violet could see. She ran towards him, the holograms vanishing since one of the duelest were no longer conscious. "Elliot..." Violet dropped by his side, carefully rolled him over and then lai his head on her lap. "What has ailed you Elliot...." She mumbled. Maybe he was simply sick. He could've caught a cold from somewhere before he came here, and he did say he wasn't feeling right earlier. Testing her theory she placed theback of her hand on his forhead, only to snatch it back. It was ice cold. "Maybe I would serve me well if I were to return him to his room." With a sigh she managed to stand up, one arm arond his waist from behind, and her other hand navigating his limp arm around her neck, and holding it here.

She then remembered Corey was there as well, "Would it be a burden to ask for your assisstance? I am not that confident in ascending the stairs with him." Even though she asked for help, she did not wait for his answer and only continued to Elliot's room.

"Of course not" Corey scurried over to Violet. He helped Violet lift Elliot to his room. Once they got there, Corey ran off to get a wet towel. When he returned, he placed the towel on Elliot's forehead. "I didn't see anything...he just collapsed" Corey said. "Any thoughts?" he looked up, asking Violet, as he placed a blanket on top of Elliot.
"Well, it seems that the first thing to do is let him rest..." he sighed as he grabbed a chair and sat beside the bed.

Violet shook her head watching Corey place Elliot in his bed. "I am unsure as to what may be causing Elliot's ill behavior." She said awkwardlly standing in the middle of the room. Truthfully Violet felt horrible for what happened to Eliot. As soon as she noticed something was wrong with him she should have forfieted the duel to see what was wrong. [I]But I did not and now Elliot has been hurt.[/i] "I must be a most terrible friend." She sighed to her self. Violet remembered when she was sick the maidswuld bring her tea. Maybe some good tea would help him. "I shall return momentarily." She said quickly and ran off to the cafeteria. There were a scarse amount of kids in there now, and the lady from earlier was still there too. "Pardon me ma'am. I wish to aquire some tea." Once again she didn't say anything and handed her a white pack, a cup and pointed off to the side saying, "Milk is over there."

Violet blinked confused looking at the white pack. "Hot....Cocoa?...Ah! Yes I do recall what this is." She grabbed the milk and moved over to the microwave, but from there she was lost. Not once had she prepared anything herself, and so she didn't know how to use the microwave. With no other option she asked one of the kids to work the microwave for her, and he did so but not before giving Violet a weird look. Not that she cared. As soon as the hot cocoa was ready she returned to Elliot's room to find it the exact same way when she left. Violet placed the cup on the bed side table, before getting a chair and placing it beside Corey's.

"H-How can you talk? Arrg, I must be dreaming or something!" Elliot said to himself in frustration. "Elliot, this is a dream.... But just because it is a dream, it doesn't mean what I'm about to tell you isn't real...." Brionac proclaimed. "You have something to tell me? (I must be dreaming if I'm actually having a conversation with a Duel Monster.)" Elliot thought to himself. "Listen carefully.... Elliot, you have lost faith in your cards, and that in turn, made you weak. Weak enough to allow the darkness to influence you...." Brionac explained. "What are you talking about?" Elliot asked in confusion.

"You must understand that there are dark forces at work here at Duel Academy Island.... You along with the other students of Duel Academy are facing something sinister.... There's nothing going on and there's no such things as spirits and such. This is just a dream." Elliot proclaimed.

"I don't have much time.... Heed my advice, and believe in your cards as well as the friends you will make here at Duel Academy.... The darkness is approaching...." With those last words. Brionac disappeared into a stream of icy wind. Elliot stood there, not knowing if what Brionac said could be taken as the truth or not. "I.... I don't know what to believe...." Elliot said.

"Thanks Linda, my name is Lewis."Lewis replied as after a few seconds he realized,"You seemed to know my mistake like you have researched them, since Jirai Gumo is an fairly old card that is commonly forgotten about because of it's weakness."Lewis remembered,"Ignoring that, so if you want to what is you Deck ?"asked Lewis wondering on Linda's reply.[i] I actually think the past duel went for me, but if my Opponent didn't have Big Bang Shot, then the outcome might have been different, unless I would of later drew something useful[/i], Lewis thought.

After Brionac had disappeared, Elliot continued to wander around the room. "Could what Brionac said really be true?" Elliot asked himself as he stopped and sigh. "Nevermind that, how do I wake up from this dream?" Elliot wondered. Elliot then made his way back to where he had woken up in the dream. Walking back, Elliot had a lot to think about. Elliot wondered if what Brionac said was true and he wondered just what kind of dark forces was Brionac talking about. Elliot also wondered what is happening with his physical body right now. Finally, Elliot was able to find the spot where he had first woken up. He didn't know what to do from there. Elliot thought that maybe he would just wake up automatically he walked back here.

Then, Elliot decided to lay back down onto the ground and hope that something would happen. At first, nothing seems to be happening, but then, the ground beneath Elliot started to glow that intense icy blue color again. Elliot sat up looked around himself with confusion. "W-What's happening?!" Elliot asked himself. Elliot then sat up from his bed in his dorm room. Elliot was breathing rather quickly. "I-I'm back in my room?" Elliot asked.

By that time, it was 2AM and Corey had fallen asleep in the chair. When Elliot finally came to, Corey slowly opened his eyes. When he saw Elliot wake up, he rushed in front of him, managing a smile. "Glad you're alright, Elliot" he said weakly. "What happened to you?" Corey asked as he slid his chair closer to Elliot's bed. He looked at Violet. "We've both been really worried about you, especially because you just collapeed for no reason with no mdical symptoms" he explained.

Elliot placed his hand on his head as if he had a headache. Hearing Corey's voice, Elliot's eyes cleared to see Corey. "Corey?" Elliot asked, still a bit dazed. Elliot turned his head to see Violet and then turned back to Corey. "Ugh.... What happened?" Elliot asked hearing Corey's question. "(That dream.... I wonder if I should tell them.... No, it's just a dream, there's no way it could be real....)" Elliot thought to himself. "I don't know. I guess I just lost consciousness. The next thing I remember is waking up in this room and seeing you two. I don't know what happened to me." Elliot responded. Elliot didn't know if the dream can be trusted and so decided to keep it hidden.

Corey was silent the entire time they were in the room, and that was making Violet worry big time. What if he was mad at her for hurting Elliot. [i]If he is upset, then it is safe to say that Elliot would be most un happy with me as well.[/i] Violet thought sighing. Before she knew it she had followed Corey's example and fell asleep.

She awoke to voices and for a split second she wonered why there were voices in her room. However, in the next second it all came back to her and she jumped awake to see Elliot up. "Elliot! Oh I am most please that you are unharmed. I was beside myself with worry." She quickly said leaning forward in her chair. "Furthermore I am dreadfully apologetic if your condition is because of my wrong doings in our earlier duel. Please except my most sincere apologies." She apologized before bowing her head in shame.
