Team Pokemon V.S. Team Disaster [Started/Accepting via OoC]

Aeroblast and Dragonbreath struck at the same time, sending Chimera was flung into the air along with Natu, the latter landed infront of Mewtwo as a Zoroark, "Nothing gets past you Mewtwo...I'm actually impressed..." Gram extended his claws and stared menacingly at Mewtwo, "But, I'm going to have to take a sample of your DNA through force!" Gram then swung his claw at Mewtwo, atempting to draw blood...

Chimera recovered from the attack and sighed, clutching his chest where the attack connected, "Why do you always try and destroy me? Besides, you could've hurt Gram..." Chimera looked over at his apprentice then back at his attackers, "My best creation to date, dont you think? Now, if you try anything...I'll order Groudon to level this place and blow Cerulean City sky high!"

[Jolta]

"Well," Mewtwo spoke... "why not have a taste of BRICK BREAK!" Mewtwo then forcefully slammed his fist onto 'Zoroark's claws, probably shattering them. "I am the most powerful and no one will replicate me! Not even YOU!"

Samantha heard what Chimera said. "Rayquaza, get ready to fight..." Rayquaza then tensed itself up, ready to battle.

Ashmin crept along quietly. Strainin her ears, she thought she could hear the sound of battle. A bad sign. Kyogre, despite not being connected to MewTwo in anyway, had been right. The pyschic legendary could be in trouble. Anyone fighting for MewTwo as well. She gripped Kyogre's Pokeball tightly, drawing confort knowing who was inside. Infernape's Pokeball nestled next to it, warm at the touch. This reminded her of the strange dream she'd had before waking up. Deliver Infernape to who? No-one she yet knew.

Suddenly, Kyogre's Pokeball shook, bringing her back to the present. Her eyes refocused on the path ahead. Something flashed on the way. She squinted to refocus, and she gasped. She'd caught sight of Austin, lying on the ground, the gleaming knife stuck in his body. She rushed foward. "What The!" She screamed

[i]Well, so much for a gang up, I completely froze![/i] Ethan thought disappointedly, Ethan then noticed a cloud drifting towards, Lugia! Where did he come from?! Ethan then noticed that Samantha had her Tynamo attack the cloud, if she was attacking it, it must be bad. "Static! make the thickest Spiderweb you can and hurl it at that cloud!" As soon as Static heard the command, he enveloped the cloud to the best of his ability in a tight knit ball of webbing, "C'mon Static, you can do it! Huh?" Ethan heard Ashmin's faint scream deeper in the cave, "Samantha, I gotta go."

Cierra was in a cage in Archie's basement. The girl who Tyler thought was Cierra was Archie's..... sex toy. "Get outta here you little kid! I still have to pay her!" Archie yelled. Tyler ran out and fell into a pitfall. At the bottom was Cierra. She looked really scared. "T-They took Articuno!" Cierra said.

Austin gleamed up at Ashmin. He slowly pulled the knife out of his chest. Blood dripped off onto Ashmin's shoes. "Hey there. I'm Austin." Austin said as he stuck out his hand, which was covered with blood. "You don't to shake that." Austin said. He slid the knife into his pocket. "Cyrus of Team Galactic stabbed me. He said something about killing Samantha Sparks next." Austin said. You would think that he would be dead from being stabbed. But think again. "And this." Austin said pointing to the hole in his chest. "It's nothing. He only broke skin. No organs were harmed. It's like a big paper cut." Austin explained. He pulled out a first aid kid and opened it. "This shirt is useless." Austin pulled off his blood soaked shirt and revealed his abs. He threw the shirt at the wall. He put a bandage over his wound after cleaning it out. He packed the first aid kit up and put it in his backpack. He stood up and put the backpack onto his back. He started walking forward, leaving his shirt. He stopped and turned. "You coming?"

Gram grasped his hand and roared in pain, his nails snapping due to Brick Break. "You...You'll pay for that!" Gram shouted angrily, leaping into the air, "Now taste the wrath of my Night Daze!" and with that, he smacked his arms into the ground, creating a red and purple shockwave.

Chimera frowned underneath his hood, "I don't think you understand the whole picture, so I'm going to explain. Groudon is directly beneath Cerulean Cave, and will rise up upon my orders and then use Solar Beam on Cerulean City! This can all be avoided if you let me leave here with Mewtwo's sample...You have my word..."

[Jolta]

"Argh!" Mewtwo was attacked. "Not that..." Mewtwo was temporarily blinded by the powerful attack.

"Well then, looks like I'm gonna get to the bottom of this! C'mon out Jolta, use Dig!"
With that, Samantha sent out a Jolteon to create a giant hole on the floor, digging down... Rayquaza followed.

"My nanobots are gone, that kiddo is gone, and my sis is gone... Looks like its just you, me, Mewtwo and Lugia, Chimera," Mia said. Now, [i]my[/i] Hydreigon, strike at Mewtwo!"
With that, Mia sent out her own Hydreigon to attack Mewtwo. However, Lugia tackled the Hydreigon with a powerful Shadow Rush, knocking him away.

"Well," Lugia spoke, "you will never get the powers of the strongest Pokemon, e-" he was interrupted by a mysterious blue figure whizzing around. It could not be identified. However, it went deep into the hole caused by Samantha, then came out soon, Transforming into a Shiny Groudon.

"Huh? The real Groudon is red. Could it be, a Shapeshifter?" Lugia and Mewtwo stared in awe. The Shiny Groudon then nodded.

"If this isn't the real Groudon, who is it?" Mia stared in awe. "Well, lets see how you all like this, especially you, Shapeshifter. C'mon out Metagross, use Gravity!"

A Metagross appeared. It spun around, modifying the surrounding Gravity, thus causing Chimera, Hydreigon and Lugia to fall to the ground. The Shiny Groudon felt slightly unstable due to its already-heavy weight being heavier.

"Well, this looks like the perfect time to fly off!" Mia said. "Hydreigo- huh?"
"Don't you know what this move does?" Lugia smirked.

Zanza sighed as he flew away from the chaos at Sendoff Spring. Another ruined mission. Another non-existent paycheck. He decided to call Azuki again. He dialed her number. "Yo, I have Jirachi. Where do we meet?" He hung up and decided to go back to his place.

Giovanni paced the helicopter as they flew away. There went Giratina. For now. "James, contact General Meowth! Tell him the news of the operation. Jesse! Land us in Kanto! I don't care where!" "How about Saffron?" one grunt suggested. "Fine. Just land us!" Giovanni ordered.

"Well Latios, its just you and me," Angelo was riding on Latios. "OK... that guy looks familiar... he's the... Trainer for Hire!" Angelo managed to see Zanza. Latios then made a few Dragon noises.

"OK.. OK... lets keep quiet..." Angelo snuck up, and managed to overhear Zanza. With that, Latios fired a close-range Luster Purge at Zanza and his flying Pokemon.

Chimera growled, unable to get up due to the gravity increasing. "You...Failed to listen...Now...You shall pay the penalty! Gram! We're leaving!" Chimera shouted, his form quickly transforming into an Abra's.

Gram managed to cut Mewtwo before being forced to the ground, he then heard Chimera calling to him, "Coming! I've got a sample so...I'm ready to...go..." Gram gasped, struggling to move to his master.

Gram turned into a Natu and teleported away with Chimera, appearing on a nearby cliff face overlooking Cerulean City, where Mother waited with the Red Orb. Mother handed them black coats to cover their bodies, "Mother, command Groudon to rise and use Solar Beam on Cerulean! We'll handle the survivors..." Chimera ordered; the creature bobbed its head to signify it got the message. The Red Orb began to glow a bright crimson, relaying the message to the titan underneath Cerulean Cave...

Ethan ran towards the source of the scream, and came across Ashmin and Austin, "I heard a scream, is everything ok here?" Ethan then noticed that Austin was bandaged and without a shirt, [i]I hope I didn't interrupt a special moment or something[/i]. Ethan then heard Gram's shouting "Gahh! I gotta stay in one place instead of running around trying to figure out what's going on!" Ethan was very confused, "Anyway, is everything ok here? Because I heard a scream."

OoC: It's kinda kind to interrupt a moment between a 17 year old Gym Leader and a 12 year old girl.

Austin saw Ethan ran by. "It's fine. Cyrus stabbed me and this girl found me." Austin patted his pockets. His eyes grew huge. "H-He.... took Zapdos! Come on!" Austin said running past Ethan.

Cyrus was hidden by Mewtwo. He had his Pokemon, Zapdos, and a Master Ball. "With Mewtwo's power. Team Disaster will defeat Team Pokemon. Then Team Galatic will rise to knock Team Disaster down!" Cyrus said to his self. He saw Mewtwo fighting Samantha Sparks. "That b****! I'll kill you too!" Cyrus pulled a gun out of his pocket. And smiled.

[Jolta]

OoC: Mewtwo isn't fighting Samantha, he's fighting for Samantha and Team Pokemon. In addition to that, Samantha's underground, trying to find Groudon.

"Ah, look," Mewtwo spoke, feeling slightly weaker, "Look no more..." Mewtwo then blasted its Signature Move, Psystrike, at Cyrus. It had to walk due to Gravity... "I'll show you..."

"Ah, one of my guardians under your control, I see? We'll see how you like this..." Lugia, still lying on the gropund due to Gravity, fired a leg-level Aeroblast at Cyrus' legs. Since Gravity was in effect, no one could dodge moves, jump, or levitate.

"Well, now its time to work together with the foes," Mia smirked. "Metagross, use Bullet Punch on Cyrus..." with that, Metagross stood up on its fours, then quivered to Cyrus, then struck with a Bullet Punch.

[Supreme Gamesmaster]

Team Disaster had impressed her, Cormona had to admit. But she still thought that if she'd been in charge, she wouldn't have pissed off Mewtwo. There were techniques to doing these things.

The lengths to which she'd had to go to gain entrance to Cerulean Cave had been absurd. Honestly, Team Disaster seemed more concerned with keeping itself out than Team Pokémon, which would explain how Team Pokémon had turned up and ruined Team Disaster's scheming. Honestly. You can't be half-assed about catching legendary Pokémon.

But the power of the Legendaries stunned her! She was used to Phantasm being an unstoppable force of nature, but these Pokémon could throw her around like a rag doll! What was even the point of having other Pokémon with these monstrosities running around? And why -- why -- did Team Disaster feel the need to keep her out of the loop?! Cannon fodder was the first thing they needed to deal with such brutes!

"There is too much here," Phantasm murmured. Cormona wasn't about to run around this nightmarish Pokémon minefield without a monster of her own by her side.

"No kidding."

"Let us withdraw."

"For serious?"

"The Legends are... indecisive. The outcome of this battle will change little. And the impending defeat of Team Disaster will allow you to participate more... actively."

"I'm not so sure I want to anymore. I mean, really. Half the grunts have no idea what they're messing with."

"In that matter, you should do as you wish," Phantasm advised oh-so-helpfully. "Do what your heart desires."

Cormona sat back and pondered this, myriad thoughts flying through her head. Then, at last, she said --

"Phantasm?"

"Yes?"

"How old is the leader of Team Pokémon, again?"

"Fifteen."

"...yeah, this isn't gonna work. Let's go. We have a chain of command to climb."

"Very well. Let us go."

And so the odd duo went out the way they came: floating through the walls.

The ground shook madly underneath Cerulean Cave, as a crimson red bulk forced it's way through the cavern floor. Groudon had arisen, and Cerulean Cave began to collapse around it's body; when the beast finally left the ground, it was towering over Cerulean City. Chimera watched from afar, his apprentice behind him, "Watch Gram! As through this act, my goals, my desires, become known to this world!" Chimera shouted, the atmosphere around him reeked of insanity. Groudon reared it's head and began charging a Solar Beam, one that would destroy Cerulean City in one single blast...

Persephone sat inside Chimera's fortress drinking tea, surrounded by a circle of Pokemon Plushies; the young girl fell silent during her conversation with 'Mr Worthington' and turned to look out the window. "It has...Begun..." she whispered, her eyes dull and void.

And the duo exited Cerulean Cave with little incid

"Excuse me."

"Y-yes?"

"Was that Groudon just now?"

"Yes..."

"Huh. And it's charging up a big Solar Beam, aimed at Cerulean City."

"...it seems so."

"Huh."

There was a long silence as the duo absorbed the events unfolding before them. Unable to bear the silence, Cormona spoke:

"...Why do they wanna destroy Cerulean, exactly? I mean, it doesn't exactly help with the politics of everything. Seems much more sensible to just, like, throw a bunch of rocks around it and keep everyone fenced in. Then you could still use the Cerulean economy and maintain power over more people in a better-defended area, right?" Cormona was mostly rambling to relieve her fear.

"Team Disaster is... less than competent in the political field. It is my belief that most of its leaders are... unstable."

"Huh. ...f***."

"Do we escape?" Phantasm asked, utterly serene despite the whirlwind of panic raging in her spectral bosom.

"Hell yes. I want no part of this monstrosity. May as well get the people out of Cerulean while I'm at it, hedge my bets."

Her new mission was by no means altruistic.

[Jolta]

Rayquaza and Samantha emerged from the whole Groudon came out by. "Rayquaza, sorry, but..."
"Yes, Samantha," Rayquaza dashed at a high speed, then fired an Incinerate at Groudon's SolarBeam, negating it.
"Well, Fire-Type attacks like Incinerate are strong against Grass-Type Attacks like SolarBeam. Guess you were too insane to think about that, eh?"

All of a Sudden, Gravity's effect wore off, allowing Lugia and Mewtwo to leviate high enough to aid Rayquaza.
"We must defeat this behemoth to free him from Chimera's control. Now, Aeroblast!" Luga spoke via telepathy as he blasted a powerful attack at Groudon.
"Psystrike!" Mewtwo aimed for Groudon with its Signature Move.

"Chimera's the enemy of both teams, I should help out as well," Mia rose as she rode on her Dragonite. "Dragonite, Dragon Claw on Groudon!"

The humongous, faker, Shiny Groudon was still there. Shiny Groudon charged at the real Groudon with a powerful SolarBeam...

Groudon roared in fury as his attack failed before being struck by Aeroblast, he barely had enough time to smack away Dragonite before being struck by Psywave. The legendary roared in a mixture of pain and rage; Groudon quickly turned to the direction of Cerulean and fired the next best thing: Hyper Beam, at the city. The Solar Beam from the fake Groudon took it's toll, and the real Groudon collapsed in a heap, its wounds too much for it to bear...

...The Hyper Beam struck the west side of Cerulean, causing a massive explosion that engulfed half of the City; Chimera laughed in delight, his plan had worked, despite the defeat of Groudon!

Chimera turned back to face mother, "Its job is done," Chimera said, his Mother gargling in delight, "you can destroy the Red Orb now..." and with that, the Red Orb was tossed over the cliff face...

"Well, I guess its back to Headquarters," Mia flew away, not pursuing anything. That's her.
"Oh gawd no. Huh?" Samantha was stunned The fake, Shiny Groudon had transformed into a tiny blue light. The light zoomed to the city at the speed of light and glowed even brighter, bright enough for all to see.
"It is fixing the city..." Lugia thought.

"All's well that ends well. Rayquaza, lets go!"
Rayquaza flew up high as Lugia followed.

"I must head home..." Lugia dived into the water, only to emerge during the Johto Arc.

Mewtwo, on the other hand, got ready. "Lets see..." he used a powerful Psychic to lift Cyrus into the air, then struck with a Brick Break on the Weavile.

"Well, I guess its back to Headquarters," Mia flew away, not pursuing anything. That's her.
"Oh gawd no. Huh?" Samantha was stunned The fake, Shiny Groudon had transformed into a tiny blue light. The light zoomed to the city at the speed of light and glowed even brighter, bright enough for all to see.
"It is fixing the city..." Lugia thought.

"All's well that ends well. Rayquaza, lets go!"
Rayquaza flew up high as Lugia followed.

"I must head home..." Lugia dived into the water, only to emerge during the Johto Arc.

Mewtwo, on the other hand, got ready. "Lets see..." he used a powerful Psychic to lift Cyrus into the air, then struck with a Brick Break on the Weavile.

Chimera roared in rage, his plan to make the world aware of his goals had failed. "Gram! We're going back to the fortress!" Chimera shouted angrily, transforming into an Abra and dissapearing; Gram looked over at Mother and said, "He'll probably want you to collect trainers for testing, so..." Gram fell silent, turned into Natu and teleported away. They both appeared in a black, ferocious looking citadel, that stuck out in a flat landscape in the middle of nowhere. Persephone ran over to the two, back in their cloaked forms, and bowed, "Sir, Prince, how was your mission?"

Chimera scowled underneath his hood and walked away, quickly calling out to Persephone, "I want you to go into Team Pokemon's HQ and take a sample of their commanders, this isn't optional!" he left before Persephone could protest. Gram looked down at Persephone, "You don't have to do it, I can-" Gram was cut off by Persephone, "No, I'll be able to do it...But you can take the samples back as I collect them..."

Gram frowned underneath his hood, but nodded anyway, before heading off himself. "I'll be back in a few hours, I have to run a few errands..." Gram called out, before teleporting out of there as a Natu; he reappeared in Cerulean City, quickly transforming into a mix between Groudon and Rayquaza. "I need to talk with Samantha..." he said to himself, flying off to catch up with Samantha.

[Jolta]

"Huh?" Samantha, as she flew on her shiny Rayquaza, turned back and saw the monstrous hybrid. "Well, can't possibly catch up with us. What is that?"
Samantha took out a Pokedex. "Huh?" Samantha was stunned.

"Rayquoudon, the Heaven-and-Earth Pokemon. Rayquoudon is believed to be a synthetic Pokemon invented by a former Team Disaster member. Its DNA is the Fusion of Groudon and Rayquaza."

"Odd, very suspicious. I could've figured that out without the help of a Pokedex. Its obvious who that is. Rayquaza, tailback Twister..."

Rayquaza, with its tail facing the fusion, created a twister.

Meanwhile, a mysterious, cloaked figure riding on a Hydreigon was near Team Pokemon's HQ. The figure put on a scouter. "Hmmm... patrolling is tough, especially since I lead Unova's base, not this region's..." a feminine voice spoke.

[VGVentus]

Gram barely dodged the attack and quickly shouted out to Samantha, "Cease fire! I'm here to tell you something important..." Gram then flew above Rayquaza and came down onto it's head as a human. He was armoured in grey plating, covering all his features except his deep blue hair and his eyes, which were hidden by a yellow visor, "...it's to do with Chimera, my master, could you spare a minute?" Gram asked, his hand gripped on Rayquaza's horns.

[Damiano Tosē]

Eddy Nash stepped out of headquarters, looking up at the sky and sighing to himself. He was bored.

He walked to the back of his headquarters and looked at the open meadow. It looked beautiful, a perfect place for him to train. He took out his pokeballs and smirked. He knew every one of his pokemon were loyal to him. "Step onto the battefield, Haxorus." He turned his back and threw the pokeball out in the air. An all-white beam came out of the pokeball and out came a dragon pokemon covered in hard armor. "Haxorus!!!" The pokemon said as he looked at his master.

"Haxorus, Hyper Beam." Haxorus paid attention to his master's command. Haxorus' mouth was then filled with extremely powerful energy as he tilted his upper body back. Opening his mouth, Haxorus released a beam of powerful energy as the beam soared into the sky. Eddy smirked at his pokemon. He was impressed."Good. Now rest." He quietly said as he threw touched the middle button which opened the pokeball and beamed the pokemon back in.
He sighed, ".....Such as bore." He said as he walked back to the front of the headquarters.

[Pichu]

The Mewtwo attacked Cyrus. Sadly it was Cyrus's Ditto again. Cyrus was running through the caves. He came to a shirtless Austin. "Die!" Cyrus said throwing out five Pokeballs. Out popped his Houndoom, Crobat, Gyarados, Honchkrow, and his Weavile. Ditto emerged from behing Cyrus. Cyrus ordered his Pokemon to attack. They did so. In no time, Austin blacked out.

Austin awoke in a small dark room. There was a lamp above him and he was tied to a chair. "What the Hell, Cyrus!?" Austin yelled. The out of the darkness, Cyrus appeared. "Hello." he said. "Creeper." Austin said. Cyrus smacked him across the face. "Shut the Hell up kid!" Cyrus yelled. "I'm going to kill you. Right here. Right now." he continued. Cyrus held up a knife. He raised it into the air when Austin spoke. "Cyrus. Wait. What if I help you?" he said. Cyrus lowered the knife. "What?" "Yes. If you don't kill me, I join Team Disaster and help beat Team Pokemon. Remember, I have Zapdos." Austin explained. Cyrus dropped the kinfe. "Good idea. But if this is a trick, I'll kill you." Cyrus said untieing Austin. Cyrus gave Zapdos back to Austin and also gave him a Team Disaster uniform. "Thank you." Austin said.

[Supreme Gamesmaster]

"See?"

The mayor turned to find Cormona reclining in her chair, her unreadable smirk plastered as always over her face.

"Huge catastrophe, right? Good thing you listened to me and evacuated Cerulean, huh? I would hate to be the mayor that didn't take my advice."

Cormona had taken the brute force approach to a meeting with the mayor of Cerulean City: having Phantasm drop her in the office and then using Dream's powers to back up her evidence. Thankfully, the mayor was trusting enough to believe Cormona and evacuate Cerulean -- before Groudon loosed a Hyper Beam on the city.

The mayor took his seat only warily. The girl had made it quite clear -- she was no saint. She had him wrapped around her little finger now.

"Why couldn't our Psychic-Types predict this?" he demanded.

"Mewtwo," Cormona replied. "Half the Legendary Pokémon in the world were duking it out over at Cerulean Cave -- it's only natural that the local champion should wake up and join in. We could show you the proof because we were actually there before we came. It wasn't a matter of clairvoyance through Mewtwo's psychic resonance -- just spirit photography from Phantasm's memories."

Ulp.

The mayor knew only two things about his new situation. He had known the first thing from the moment the Gardevoir had started its playback mechanism: the situation at the cave spelled utter disaster for Cerulean City. The danger from being near such a divine cornucopia to the populace of Cerulean was simply too great to ignore.

"You are certainly making our dilemma very clear," he said quietly.

"It's best not to understate such things," the girl replied. She should still be a student -- but this was evidently not her vocation.

"But I'm not a pundit," the should-be student continued theatrically. "I'm no entertainer, just using artistic techniques to demonstrate the peril of a situation. I have a plan."

"Fire away." He would take anything at this point.

"The first step is to reorganize Cerulean," she began. "That little blue light is actually making things really inconvenient for us. We need to get the hell away from Cerulean Cave. It's not something the people will wanna hear. So here's the plan.

"There are two terrorist organizations I happen to know of. They use the old 'Team' naming system -- Rocket, Aqua, Magma, Galactic, et cetera ad nauseam. They're called 'Team Pokémon' and 'Team Disaster.' No, seriously," she added in reply to a skeptical cocked eyebrow from the mayor. "They actually call themselves that, and they seem to be doing a half-decent job. But anyway, the idea is to find some way to lure them in again. Draw them to the city. I have connections with Team Disaster, anyway, and Team Pokémon's mission statement is 'kill Team Disaster.' That's my end.

"Anyway, here's the trick. You evacuate again, thanks to your amazing instincts. This will be the second time. Team Disaster will win, and the city will be damaged. Badly. But I'll keep 'em on a leash -- one confirmed legendary sighting and they'll be off chasing a wild goose. I can feed them that. They'll be off. Team Pokémon will follow. And then the people of Cerulean will need to rebuild.

"You've already established your supernatural instincts. The people trust you as someone who can carry them through a crisis. You can mention that you have intel on Team Disaster or whatever you want. Just say that Cerulean Cave is a danger zone -- which it is -- and have the people rebuild farther away. Boom! Problem solved, and you're a shoe-in for reelection besides.

"But there's also an aspect of prevention in all of this. Team Pokémon and Team Disaster are both dangerous organizations responsible for stirring up legendary Pokémon and all sorts of mayhem. After an event like that, you'll be able to convince the administrations of other cities that those two teams are dangerous. With the combined might of the Kanto Region cracking down on these guys, they can't hope to survive. What do you say?"

She talked a mean game. But the question remained.

"Who are you?"

"I was an ordinary student until a few months ago, when a fight between Teams Pokémon and Disaster destroyed my university."

"Aha." Well, that would explain things. "Your plan...

"It is sound, but I need proof. Prove to me these... 'connections' you have. Show that you can control the outcome of a fight between these teams. Then... we will consider a partnership." It was highly irregular to bargain with such a young woman, much less one who refused to confirm her identity beyond a cursory 'Cormona Reich," but he had little choice but to call her bluff. If he was wrong, it seemed, she could do far worse damage to his city. Pascal's Wager and whatnot.

"This I can do," she assured him. "Team Disaster will raid, oh, Black City in a fortnight, out for Reshiram. Team Pokémon will intercept them and win fairly easily, and they'll retreat rather than risk overextending. I'll put Black City in on this plan, too; we can just have them run around the different regions until they have nowhere else to run. Sound good?

"And if I don't deliver, well, I wasn't stupid enough to come in here without a backup plan or five. I'll come back here on the fortnight with a proposition for a backup plan and a willingness to hear out some other ideas. You in?"

"..."

Of course he was. What other options did he have? The possibility of a second catastrophe, here or anywhere else, was so dire that he had to take any help he could get. Besides, when dealing with someone so influential, the girl had no room for error or betrayal.

"Excellent. Well, see you soon, mister mayor."

The room blacked out for a moment -- the Mismagius's doing, no doubt. When he could see again, his mysterious guests were gone. Not an enormously impressive trick, but a practical escape from a potentially hostile compound. The law, it seemed, was not generally her friend.

The girl had a future in politics, the mayor thought, if she ever wanted to pursue it. She knew where she was, where he was, and how to make use of most anything that came her way. No doubt she, like he, had assembled myriad backup plans within that plan should anything go awry. She knew the importance of a flexible plan as well as he did.

It ought to be interesting indeed to work with her.
