~NOiSE~
It'd be cool if we could some different on the radio now and then. Unfortunately, the current generation seems to have perpetual A.D.D., not being able to focus long enough to appreciate some of the finer things that music has to offer. I'm not saying that all mainstream music is bad, that's definitely not the case. But it seems like most bands that are popular follow the same formula over and over to please the critics and make money, not to make interesting music. Not that making money is a bad thing, but music has suffered because many bands focus on that more than the quality of the music they play. Why can't things be the way they were back in the day when Pink Floyd, Kansas and Styx were huge? Bands rarely venture out like those bands did, and the music industry isn't quite the same because of it. I will rejoice the day I hear bands like these on the radio: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gnHkXUkkabw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OIM5M6FmnmY Well, that's my schpeal for the day. Cool story, huh?
Umbra
The word you're looking for is "Autotune". It can even turn people like Paul Vasquez whilst stoned out of his mind into acceptable pop singers. FeralSnake
I miss the days when MTV used to actually play music like Black Sabbath, ACDC,Led Zeppelin, and Aerosmith. Even rock music nowadays isn't very good, and some old bands that are still around are sounding like s*** most the time (FE: Metallica, Megadeth, etc.) I understand you exactly man, and I miss those days. .Starrk
Can I ask why all male country singers sound almost exactly the same?
Catman25
^ And female country singers for that matter.
Gospel.
If you know your gonna make tons of money on an album no matter how good, you lose the motiviation required to make good music so you use material from other popular musicians. I don't buy newer Albums anymore, even of bands like Metallica (Which is my favorite) and Megadeth, I just buy the individual good songs that they release. The new Rock bands need to follow in the footsteps of the older ones. It'll be the day when a good punk rock band actually appears, as I don't think we've gotten one since The Misfits. It also makes me angry when you can search a song in Youtube, and the cover by a bad band has more views (FE: Search "Bad Company" in YouTube, it will be pretty hard to find the original by BAD COMPANY)
Nu.
Ehhhh... I agree about the state of the music industry, and most of the prejudice that it creates majorly pisses me off, but sometimes I'm glad that not many can truely appreciate certain styles of music, because it means that you can appreciate it on a personal level. /endofrant :
