So here it is: the big tourney for the holidays. There will be 16 contestants, half of them eliminated each round. The thing is, not only the challenges will be Christmas-related, everything from the setup to the prizes will be oozing with holiday spirit. Here is all of the various stuff.

[spoiler=rules]All YCM rules apply

*no spamming

*no flaming

*no trolling

*no joke cards

*no using old cards (all cards must be created just for this contest, I hope I can trust you on that. Also, if you catch another contestant using an old card and can prove it, they will be eliminated. However, since being a tattletale is naughty, you will also be eliminated.)

*MOST IMPORTANT RULE: BE JOLLY! Anyone who is caught being a sore loser or a mean winner will be instantly eliminated. Also, the tattletale rule applies here too.

[spoiler=how_this_will_work] In the Christmas Spirit, no one will leave empty-handed. Everyone will get an award, which they can quote into their sig and show off proudly. In the Christmas spirit, instead of people getting eliminated, you get to stay as a "Ghost". You can come back into the competition, but only if your card is REALLY good (like 99 or 100/100 good). You also have a lot more time to get awards, which I will present at the end of the contest. Anyways, other than that, the overall Christmas cheer and the rounds (Which will capture all aspects of Christmas, you can be sure of that), it's a pretty average tournament.

[spoiler=judges_and_contestants] There will be 4 Judges including me. To be a judge, you need to fill out the following application:

Reason you want to be a judge: (I don't know, I'm just trying to make this look more official!)

Your favorite Christmas (or Hanukkah or Kwanzaa) Quote/Song:

and PM me with what you consider your best work. You must be at least level 3 to be a judge.

[spoiler=costs_and_prizes] In the Christmas Spirit, I will keep the cost very simple: 25 points for entry (although donations are appreciated). That's it.

Now on to PRIZES!

1st place gets 75% of the pot and 3 reps.

2nd gets 20% of the pot and 1 rep.

3rd gets 5% of the pot and 2 reps.

1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th all get free admission to my next contest.

Also, aside from the individual awards, there are tons of prizes you can win for doing certain things, like:

Christmas Joy: Friend at least 5 contestants/judges and you get an award and a rep (and a mini-present if one of them is me!).

Ornament Maker: Make a trophy to add on to one of the awards and you get an award, a rep, and 25 points.

The Gift of Giving: Donate at least 50 points PLUS your entry fee and you get an award and a rep.

Surprise Box: Do something nice and unexpected and you get a rep and a surprise present in your PM box.

Santa Claus: The best award of them all, given to the nicest and overall best player/judge. You get an award, a rep, and a Present in your PM box.

Official Humbug: Given to the best judge for being both smart and critical. Gets an award and a +rep.

Ghost of Christmas Present: Given to the creator of the best card in the whole tournament and gets an award and a Present in their PM box.

Ghost of Christmas Future: Given to the most promising 1-3 star card maker in the competition and they get a +rep and 50 points.

as you can see, there are a lot of reps, and YCMaker gave me permission to give them out.

So yeah, that's a lot of chances to get prizes!

The pot is: 1915 points- so far!

[spoiler=rounds]

Round 1:

Of course, to get ready for Christmas, you need to make preparations!

First, you need to get a Christmas Tree, of course! Create a Continuous Spell that can be searched from the Deck and either gives you Life Points or raises your monster's ATK and/or DEF.

Then, you buy presents for everyone! Make a Spell or Trap Card that either takes something from from your monsters and gives it to you or vice versa. It also must only be able to be activated while your tree is in play.

Finally, you need to decorate your tree! Make a card that somehow assists your tree's effect.

Cards due by Christmas or possibly Saturday.

Round 2:

OK, Christmas is over, now you have to clean up and make way for the new year! Make a card that destroys your Tree and activates your next card.

Then, throw a New Years Party! Make a Field/Continuous Spell that involves Turn Count and/or the start and end of your turn.

Finally, make the countdown to midnight! Make a card that starts a countdown, but can only be activated while your Party card is in play.

Round 3:

OK, now that the holidays are out of the way, we can play in the snow!

First, you need the perfect area. Create a Field Spell that helps your next 2 cards. You can be pretty creative here.

Then, build a Snow Fort. Create a Continuous Spell or Trap Card that protects your monsters and/or your Life Points.

Finally, Have a SNOWBALL FIGHT!!! Create a card that can only be activated while your fort's in play and involves tributing/discarding cards to do damage to your opponent.

FINAL ROUND:

OK, so the FINAL ROUND is here! You need to make not 2, not 3, not 4, but 1 card! That's right, all of your work has to go into a single card! This round: tell us what you think is the true meaning of winter/the holidays. Is it all about presents? Or is it more about happiness and joy? It's up to you. The one requirement:

LET'S GET TO CAAARDMAKING!!! I've always wanted to say that.

If you are here to vote, make sure your vote is detailed and maybe has a rubric, and you will get a +rep.

That's about it. Now get to cardmaking!
