Thoughts on Legal Winged Dragon of Ra

Well, I forgot how to put a picture in here since I haven't been on in like a year. I just got the new Winged Dragon in the mail, and it kinda sucks in my opinion. Just because it can be targeted by Spell, Traps, and Monster effects which I think is gay. Heres the actual card:

 

 

So what do you guys think of it?

It sucks. Not only can it be targeted, but it got nerf'd. A LOT. It wasn't great to start with, but now it is trash. They took away its ATK and DEF absorbtion. And, it can't be Special Summoned.

 

The only use this would ever see is in n00b decks, and decks for teh lulz

 

Also, what is the point of paying 1000 LP if you only have 100? Sure, you can gain it back, but what is the point?

OT: It seems that Konami decided to go above and beyond their normal nerfing ways to deal with this, even though (IMO) there was no reason to nerf most of it. Drop a "Once per turn" clause on the destroy monsters effect, and the rest works itself out.

it's terrible, it can't be SS, it can be targeted, oh and where's the ATK point gain for the tributes. And the only way it can get ATK and DEF is with paying life points so you have 100 left. Also paying 1000 life points to destroy 1 monster on the field, that's meh (you might as well use that for it's other life point effect), overall, although i think it sucks

It's terrible, because Konami made it terrible. This is probably one of the worse cases of nerfing a much-anticipated card in Konami's history, no? Really, why did they have to do it with this card in particular? It's like they wanted to irritate all the Battle City fans and bait the noobs out of their money (to be fair, they do that anyway with the whole game).

Also, is the "pay all but 100" a forced effect? Meaning you have to do that as soon as its played?

The "pay 1000" effect is garbage, because it only targets monsters >___>

As we all know, this god card was the most powerful in the series. So powerful that the RL card must be nothing short of trash with awesome art.

 

1- Can't be Special Summoned. Congratulations, you killed Ra's whole gimmic.

 

2- Absence of Tributed monsters ATK= ATK. Okay, so that part was too powerful and abusable, easily being a 3 Tribute 6000+. But not even 1/2 the ATK? Horrible to give it nothing. What a waste of 3 Tributes.

 

3- Can be targeted, while Obelisk cannot. So...why's this again? Afraid of being consistent?

 

4- Pay all LP but 100 for ATK. Okay, fine. But because of number 2, this is too weak and risky.

 

5- Pay 1000 to nuke a monster. Okay, this is perfectly fine. But it makes you balance these effects: A) Have Ra nuke monsters easily, but be a 0/0 Three Tributer. B) Use other effects to regain LP, else this effect is meaningless.

My version works 2 ways, by the way.

If you Normal Summon it, it has target immunity and the "pay 1000 = destroy" effect, but it cant attack if you use the destroy part.

If you Special Summon it, then it can be targeted by stuff, but it has the LP = ATK effect, and does piercing damage.

Add to it, an origional ATK/DEF of 0 means you can grab it with Sangan.

You people do realize it says "you can" not you have to. So instead of ditching all of those LP you can keep all of your LP and use it's nuking effect.

What I think of this card is that it should get an errata:

"When this card is created, it gets more Forum Topics than any other card ever"

 

Not much to say here.. can be used for an OTK (field wipe + this + Enchanted Javelin = profit?), otherwise.. I don't know .. It would be acceptable if it had the "can't target" effect Obelisk has

No. Just no. Paying 1000 to kill 1 monster? That's up to 5000 just to kill their field once. And you have a 0/0 monster. Not worth it at all.

Not that mega sucky. Well kinda but there is 1 good situation. You have him out, they have 2 monster 5 spells/traps 600LP. You get your giant trunade and return all. You pay 1000 twice to kill both, direct for kill. Wait THIS CARD SUCKS!

Sacrifice 3 monsters. Pay 5000 lifepoints. Destroy 5 monsters on your opponents side of the field. Or, you know, just pay all but 100 lifepoints so your opponent can win next turn with like a des koala or something. Hell, you don't even have to do anything. Just sacrifice the damn monsters and attack for 0. I mean, why not? There isn't any divine beast support out there. Just summon it in front of a noob and burn it with fire. Watch them cry, and laugh at their misery. Invoke pain. And when you're done, pull out another one and trade it for their best cards. That's all this card is anyways. In fact, when this card is normal summoned, just activate one of these two effects -

 

*Burn it with fire

*Trade it

 

 

Seriously though. I really dislike. God knows what Konami will do with the slifer they'll make next year.
