I didn't have Silver, I had Gold, but I remember first getting the game used and finding a Level 30 Celebi in my Boxes.

I was like:

But they were mostly through rare candies xD

I do have around 7 lvl 80s now tho (altogether, despite 6 of them being in Black version xD)

I literally fought the Elite 4 a 100 times to get my party up in the 80s.

This was in Sapphire. I had no other places to train my party.

Diamond and Pearl was really the start of the game providing better replay value by having growing opponents post-Elite 4.

I think it is actually, I heard the Black / White postgame had REGULAR trainers with pokemon in the high eighties and stuff :'o

The highest-level trainer I met was this guy you can challenge once a day that has pokemon in the 70s


And the elite 4 also has pokemon in the 70s, the second time you face them


And the trainers post-game usually have lvl 60-70 pokemon

And there's patches of grass with lvl 60-ish pokemon

I slowly stop playing the games after the main game. Except for the Gen III Gamecube games in which there is a large post story. There's entire other story in the Colosseum post game.

There's a pretty nice post-story after Black/White

Like, 3 new towns that you never went to before

kept me entertained enough to get my pokemon to the 80s, at least.

And the P/D/Pl post story added a new island and the HG/SS post story adds another entire region.
