Rumors of a new tournament were true, although it was still unknown whether or not it will feature non-prison duelist, but most of the criminals didn't care either way. It was 8 in the morning and after the wake-up call issued over the entire prison's monitors, another announcement was made, but this was made by the Head Warden himself. "Hello citizens." the Head Warden would always adress the prisoners as citizens, refering to Mass Eclipse as their 'city', "I know a bunch of you were gossiping about the new tournament, so I thought I'd just make it clearer myself. Yes it's true, and it's going to be hosting both men and women prisoners. Yeah, another first, and as for the prise, heh heh. You'll find out at the end." there was a certain menance to the Warden's voice now, "But don't worry, it is VERY much worth the fight." And after the Warden's signature coughing/laugh there was a sound of a click, then a recording of a metalic voice spoke over the monitors. "Rules of Mass Eclipse. I. Prisoners are forbidden to make any communication with the outside world, without proper authorization. II. Upon curfew, prisoners are required to be in their detention areas or cells. III. Physical contact with the opposite gender is prohibited. IV. You must obey The Celestial Impetus officers. V. Any prisoner found out of Duel Tokens is to be executed. VI. Prisoners selected for a tournament are required to participate in it. VII. Escaping is impossible, do not waste your time trying to. Failure to comply with these rules will result in execution or solitary confinement for a number of days issued by the warden." When the recording finished everyone went back to doing whatever they were doing. Little did any of them know, that fate's wheel was beginning to turn...
Big Bad Pennar
Nos Feraku was sitting in her cell near a wall, bored and twindling her thumbs, the darkness of the cell made it impossible to see to most humans, but not to her, after all, she used to live in a dark, underground city filled with freaks. She heard footsteps around her cell, so she climbed up the walls of the cell and climbed onto the ceiling, out of sight of any person who would happen to open the door to her cell. She laid in wait, stifling her breathing so that nothing was heard from her cell, making it seem empty to the rookie jailer....
Jake the Sage
4 Days Ago When the rumors that a new tournament was going to occur in Mass Eclipse, Lanz wasn't at all interested. In fact most rumors didn't mean anything to him since he was now more or less a 'ghost' within the massive prision city, his name becoming infamous. It'd been a couple months since he had broken out of his cell and made a mad dash to escape . . . however he never made it out of the city though the CIs probably thought he did- he had left a rope hanging on the outer wall to make it appear as if he had escaped. Now all he was doing was passing his time, waiting for a change to escape. And all that while his name grew more infamous with each failure to bring him back . . . "That d*mn warden'd do anything just to get more approval ratings from those beuracratic friends of his," he found himself thinking as his hands nimbly wrapped a copper wire around another snipped one, which feed into the entire survalence system of Mass Eclipse, and then put the wireless system into the fusebox before shutting it tight. Leaping off the roof Lanz made extra careful, as much as he always did, to make sure he was not followed back to his 'apartment' . . . which was nothing more than a small 4 foot by 4 foot empty space in Mass Ecslipe's designing; luckily for him it is out of sight and, obviously, out of mind. Present Day "So now what?" he asked himself setting his backpack down and laying on the futon he used for a bed after another day of sneaking about and doing the usual. Putting his hands back he looked up at the stars from the small 'window' and glanced over at his PDA, "I could surf the web and get in contact with old man Biltz . . . but I cannot for the life of me think of anyhting I need . . ." With a sigh he dragged it over with his right foot and then pulled it onto his chest before flipping it open. With a few key clicks he had sneaked past the Mass Escilpse's firewall and was surfing the net when something in the back of his mind caused a twing of pain. Holding his hand over his head Lanz's fingers moved as if possessed, closing the web search and pulling up the security footage that was trained on the Warden himself. Laughing, more of a low chuckle, Lanz watched the Warden give a very boring speech about the upcoming tournament. When the words '. . . as for the prise . . . it is VERY much worth the fight . . .' Lanz's eyebrows lowered. Slamming the screen shut before the traditional "reading of the rules" blarred off he called out to the sky in a very different, more menacing tone, "Alright fatman, I accept . . ." The True Ace Attorney
In the library, as the announcement rang throughout the aisles of books, Olivia held a book closed, with her finger within it so she continue afterwards of course, as she listened to the standard wake up call and the additional tournament announcement. As it faded away, she reopened the book at the same page and began reading and at the same time began her search for her favourite chair in the furthest corner. Sitting in the chair, she began to read silently. As the pages in the book turned, so did the pages of her silent trail of thought. Another tournament? It wasn't exactly a major change from the norm though the inclusion of mixing genders was. This damned prison rarely let the genders mix. Aside from that the only odd thing about it was the malevolent tone in the warden's voice, though to be fair he rarely wasn't malevolent. The way he described the prize left a... buzzing noise in Olivia's ears. There was rarely anything to be joyous about down here so a prize that was "very much worth the fight" made it seem more like not getting the prize was, putting it delicately, unfavourable. Continuing with her reading, Olivia sat silently, constantly being worried about the "prize" of the tournament, as though it were a persistent fly. ThatPhantomGuy
The rookie officer looked at his datapad and then at the Hole. He reached a hand into his back pocket and slipped on a pair of night vision visors, as he once again looked through the small window for a sign of a prisoner, but there was none. The officer quickly checked his datapad once again, then pressed a few buttons on the door, openning it. He cautiously stepped inside and began to look for clues, he obviously knew that a prisoner was stationed in here.
encapturer
"Hmph, looks like they finally decided to set that tournament thing up." Nera Tenei lay in her bed, grumbling to herself as she often did in the mornings when the rules are announced. This time, there was a tournament, but she didn't care about that unless she was selected to participate. Not to say that she never played Duel Monsters; she often has friendly duels with some people she met after being thrown in here two months ago. And of course, she would occasionally get roped into a duel where DP was on the line; fortunately, she won more often than not. It helped that her deck was pretty good; when making her deck the cards she uses now were mixed in within all of the commonly used cards - as if someone put them there specifically for her. Why else would there be enough cards to fuel three different giant robot themed decks? Instead of wondering where the cards came from, Nera just took and utilized them. Right now, she needed to prepare to leave her cell and venture into Mass Eclipse proper. Every morning she would wake up and get washed up - especially because she could be mistaken zombie in the mornings, and needs the time to at least make herself look presentable in public. After that, she would get dressed and pocket her three decks. While the decks she dubbed Original Generation and Lord of the Wind fit easily into her heroic piloted robot theme, her Endless Frontier deck did not, even though it is related. Still, the deck was rather unorthodox, so Nera used it just as often as the others. Once she was ready to leave, she would normally head down to the library and pick up a newspaper to keep up with the goings on in the real world. Normally. Today, she was greeted by two rather imposing men wearing uniforms that clearly identified them as Mass Eclipse security. "What do you want?" Nera managed to say, despite her fear of what they were planning to do with her. One of the guards simply restrained her, while the other placed a Vision Impairing Device on her head - really just a fancy blindfold. Before she could get her bearings, she heard a voice. "Come with us."
Nera lost track of time as she was being transported somewhere. She tried to keep her internal compass straight, but was thrown off once she was placed into a vehicle of some sort. As such, once she got out, she had no idea where she was. The guards that were with her continued to escort her by foot, entering a building and passing through some doors. After what felt like an eternity the Vision Impairing Device was removed from her, where she found herself face to face to a fancy door. Turning around she spotted the same two guards that took her from her cell, standing almost uncomfortably close to her and blocking any options of escape besides going through the fancy door. "Astral Phoenix will see you now," one of the guards said - though she could not tell which one. With no other options, Nera sighed, and pushed through the door into the office of the leader of Celestial Impetus, Astral Phoenix.
Big Bad Pennar
Nos Feraku looked at the rookie officer as he came in and bared fangs. It was about time she had some company, but she, being very mischievious at times, always loved to cause a lot of trouble and she craved for some real food, unlike the porridge-like stuff they were giving her, she crawled from the wall, like a gecko, and crawled out the door, she wanted to get something to eat, So she retained her normal form and looked for something to eat. She wanted something special to eat, something a bit more wholesome, but she was the complete opposite of the typical human, wherest the hole would make normal people without any night-vision goggles insane from the lack of vision, she suddenly started having some hallucinations from being out into the artificial light of Mass Eclipse. She wanted to get her food and get back in her cell as soon as possible.
Super Chaos Sonic
Lan sat in his cell looking at the neighboring wall on the other side of his cell. He kept thinking about the day he got into Mass Eclipse and the so called friend that betrayed him. He sighed and ran his fingers through his light orange hair and wished this was all just a bad dream. He then thought about the upcoming tournament that the officers kept talking about. This tournament...if I win this maybe the way for me to get the hell outta here. Lan thought to himself. Maybe even clear my name and get that back stabber of a friend in here. He finally stood up in his cell and finally said,"I'm ready. I'll do whatever it takes to win...me and my best deck will cut the competiton down to size...hopefully."
ThatPhantomGuy
[Location Mass Eclipse, Astral Phoenix's ME Quarters] "Officers, you may leave. She won't cause any trouble." a kindly voice said from an monitor at the top of the elegant door. The two gaurds hesitated at first, but then quietly turned and walked down the hallway, keeping a careful eye on Nera. Everything was silent in the hallway, the lights overhead bounced off of the white walls making things almost too bright. Soon the door in front of Nera slid smoothly open, revealing the lavish interrior of the enormous room. There were two large bookshelves, or rather, mini libraries on both sides of the room, and a two chairs one behind a large white desk, and the other in front of it. Both were shaped almost like a drop of water, apparently made of some sort of clear metal. The chair behind the desk however was occupied, sitting in it was none other than the infamous leader of The Celestial Impetus. Astral Phoenix. "My apologies for the officers, those two are not very friendly I'm afraid," he said with slight smile as he stood up from the chair, although Astral's overall expression was unreadable, "Please come in, have a seat. I've been meaning to talk to you for sometime now Ms. Tenei, or is it Mrs. Tenei?" Once again Astral smiled, but still was unreadable. Astral knew exactly why Nera was placed in Mass Eclipse, but he had to make sure no one else knew.
Big Bad Pennar
Nos Feraku looked around as she ran, looking at the various buildings as she did, she eventually stopped running because she got exhausted. then she said to herself "Hey wait a minute, why not just fly and look for the mess hall from the air?". She giggled as huge, black, eagle-like wings grew out of her back rapidly, in addition to the wings, 12 very large tailfeathers grew from her tailbone, she winced in pain, but she was used to turning into other things, after all, she was what was known in her original country as a Nue. She flew around, trying to look for the mess hall.
encapturer
"Ms. Tenei is fine," Nera said, taking a seat as instructed. It wasn't cushioned, but the seat felt like it was built for comfort. A far cry from the thin sheets of cloth Mass Eclipse call beds. Even though the prisoners are given a great deal of freedom, she was still in a prison after all. Realizing that fact made it hard for her to relax at all. "So what did you want from me?" Nera suddenly asked. She was trying her best to be polite, after all, she could be killed at any time. "I have kept my word... I didn't even try to contact the outside world since I was brought here. You can check my records if you want." Indeed, contacting someone on the outside is considered illegal, but for whatever reason, it was particularly emphasized for her. She spilled everything she knew to Celestial Impetus when she was captured, and yet, she was thrown in here. Nera crossed her arms as she waited for Astral's response. Sure, she was still wary, since she still has no idea where she is, and there are CI officers probably all over the place if she makes a false move. And yet, even in these conditions something was stirring in the back of her head as Astral spoke...
ThatPhantomGuy
"Ah, ha ha ha!" Astral laughed, sitting down as soon as Nera did, "I can sense you're quite at unease Ms. Tenei. But don't worry, you being here has nothing to do with your stay at Mass Elcipse." he said openning a file on a thin screen on his desk, apparently it was Nera's record, "Even though you have a spotless record here, the reason I requested your presence is to help me solve what you actually found on the file you were arrested for." Astral as sat across from her, he interlaced his fingers and stayed silent gazing at Nera, not glaring though, for what felt like an hour. He let out a small sigh, whether Astral was frustrated or dissapointed or something else entirely was unclear, then stood up and walked towards one of his 'mini libraries' to the left of him. Astral took a bottle of grape juice plus two elegant vial-like glasses that were sitting on one shelf and poured the the drink into both glasses. "I know this is hard, considering you're in a prison like this, but please try relax." he said while pouring the grape juice, "I promise you have nothing to fear here." Astral offered one of the glasses to Nera, with a smile. But it was different from his first smile, this one was generally heartfelt.
Jake the Sage
Later that Day As the clocks hit the curfew for prisioners Lanz watched from his hidding spot while the rest were herded into their cells. If he was a more sensable man, or caring, he wouldn't be smiling at the sight while recalling to himself, "Glad I'm not down there." The final ring of Mass Eclipse's curfew call he stood up and looked down from the rooftop at the wandering CIs. Grinning he silently hopped from spot to spot, only pausing to avoid being spotted, and slinked behind at least three guards on his way to the destination. "If I'm going to win this thing I might get a little insurance," he whispered to himself as he ducked to the side of a wall, barely escaping the spotlight which roamed a bit faster than he expected. His heart was beating merely from the exercise caused by running around, since he no longer worried about getting caught, and he peered out to see if the spotlight was gone- it was. Rushing out quickly however Lanz had ran into a CI guard and stopped as the officer gapped at the cloaked figure; Lanz had dawned this to add to the 'ghost of Mass Eclipse' monicer he had been given. "S-Sto-" was the only thing the guard had managed to say, as by then Lanz had covered the man's mouth and was holding him tightly. Glaring at the man, who was looking at him out of the corner of his eyes, he drew what the guard thought was a weapon and jabbed it into his neck. Pressing down on the object the guard's eyes rolled into the back of his eyes and was unconcious . . . not dead . . . and Lanz quickly dragged him to a wall before positioning the guard, making it look as if he had fallen asleep. Capping the serynge Lanz muttered to both himself and the guard, "Looks like you've had a fateful encounter with the 'ghost of mass eclipse' . . . luckily you're too out in the open to dispose of, but at least you wont remember anything other than a shadow you couldn't catch . . ." Putting the serynge, which of course had held the experimental amnesiac drug, back into his back pack he then ran off into the safety of the shadows, continuing onward to Mass Eclipse's Duel Runner Impound Lot. Big Bad Pennar
Nos Feraku glared around in the area, she finally found the mess hall and ate some soup and was ready to return to her cell, but she also saw a shadow running towards the duel runner impound lot. in roughly a half a second, she decided that she would just bring back some company to her cell. Dodging the spotlights very fast and very easily, she flew towards the shadow that ran toward the impound lot very fast, turning all 12 of her very long tailfeathers into a brilliant scarlet, she spread her arms out very wide to try to grab the very person with a very tight grip. encapturer
"If you know the circumstances surrounding my arrest, then I'm sure you know of my feelings about Mass Eclipse itself." Nera was sure that whatever records Astral had also spoke of her 'motive', one that she will not hesitate to make clear if there is any doubt. As she said in court: she hated Mass Eclipse and wanted it shut down. But she was here now, and there was nothing she could do. Sure, she drew up ideas and formulated plans, but by acting alone she could never bring down something backed by Celestial Impetus. She was getting desperate for assistance, even deciding to look into the rumors of someone called 'The Ghost of Mass Eclipse', before being summoned by the leader of Celestial Impetus. Even so, perhaps that leader had a point. Nera probably could get more done if she wasn't so uptight and tense, especially if she was in no position to... well... do anything besides answer Astral Phoenix's questions. As such, after staring at the drink she was being offered, she took it, thanking Astral. Her body visibly relaxed as she took a sip of the grape juice, after all, she was imprisoned for three months already, eating the mush they call food. And the man was not known to be cruel at least, so Nera decided to accept his hospitality. "So, Mr. Phoenix, you have some questions for me?" She asked, raising an eyebrow. "I already divulged everything I knew back when I was caught, but you already went through the trouble of bringing me here, so ask away." As she spoke, she went through her memories to try to recall exactly what would require a face to face meeting, but she was drawing blanks. The True Ace Attorney
After reading the same book for several hours, Olivia became tired. It was to be expected, however, as reading several books often aroused boredom whenever another opened, with the expectancy to be read. Sighing, she gently closed the book, noting the page number in her mind, and slid back onto the shelf it came from. As she left the library, she stole a quick look at the computer section and gave a it a look of longing. Due to the nature of her crime along with her technological aptitude, she had been completely banned from all computerized equipment. This generally made it quite stressful for her. She had no problems whatsoever with other people and socialising but, probably after several years of intensive web surfing, she seemed to have developed a sort of "need" for computers. She was already uncomfortable as it was, without having a computer to look at, but seeing someone else use a computer filled her with a kind of sorrow. Shaking her head of such silliness, she left the library and began to head back to her cell. As she wandered slowly, her stomach gave a terrible growl. Honestly, it was to be expected. Olivia had generally kept herself occupied in the library and rarely left it other than to return to her cell. Food wasn't something high on her priorities, especially when the food of this place was taken into consideration. a greyish slop that only contained the necessities. Once Olivia walked into her cell she climbed onto the mattress that lay in the corner and sit with her back against both walls. She stared vacantly outwards, waiting for something to happen and pondering over how best to win the upcoming tournament.
ThatPhantomGuy
When she said; 'my feelings for Mass Eclipse' it struck something in Astral, which was completely visible. He recalled her final statement before leaving the courtroom, Nera was calm and collected, but she made crystal clear that Mass Eclipse was a hell. This was only another reason to add to his long list of questions. After she drank the juice she seemed to have relaxed, but he didn't know what to think of 'Mr. Phoenix', Astral never had anyone call him that before. "I understand that you've given all you knew for the record." Astral answered, sitting back into his chair, "But I know you haven't told the officers everything you found in that file. I know a person like you would not keep secrets against the Impetus after being caught." his expression grew somewhat serrious, although he wasn't angry. "I'm starting to think either you found something that you forgot, or it's locked away in your memory."
encapturer
"Hah, your guys didn't give me much time to let it sink in, after all," Nera replied, letting off a chuckle. If he was desperate for the information, then perhaps she did find something important. Perhaps she could use Astral in her plans to shut down Mass Eclipse. "Anyway, if I remember something, I'll be sure to tell you, Mr. Phoenix..." Her voice seemed to trail off after she said the name. "Phoenix..." Nera repeated once. Then again. Then again. Each time sounded like she would say something else, yet nothing else left her mouth. Then, suddenly she found herself speaking about a rumor that she had long forgotten. "You... you never were attacked by someone named Pure, have you?" She knew the absurdity of her question, but she had to be sure...
Jake the Sage
As Lanz walked quietly down the corridors of Mass Eclipse he breathed slowly, making sure he was always looking ahead for any visable dangers, and had both hands in his pockets. By three months after his 'escape' Lanz had memorized each of the security measures of the city up to total lockdown, oddly the first one he learned, and yet knew the fatman would be constantly adding and taking out methods to mek it even more impossible to escape than it had been when he first got out. "Just a few more feet and I'll be able to check and see if there is any more parts for my duel runner," he thought while his gaze wandered out into the streets of Mass Eclipse. He could see the normal prisioners wandering about as usual not knowing that the man whom everbody thought had escaped was walking just out of sight. Then Lanz's head picked up once he heard the sound of flapping wings . . . big wings by how loud the noise was; too loud to be far away. Turning behind him, where the sound originated, his eyes grew wide with suprise to see a woman leaping at him with arms fully extended. In a split second his eyes narrowed as he rolled onto his back, his right leg kicking up as well, once the woman got close enough. Flinging her into the streets Lanz rolled to his front and looked up to his attacker, "Who the f*ck was that?! Nobodies ever managed to track me down . . . a new CI for the fatman possibly?" "We should kill her . . . make sure she never tells anyone we're still within Mass Eclipse!" a part of his brain told him, the familiar pain in his forehead intensifying. Standing to his feet Lanz swayed as he felt his head getting clouded. Finally with a sigh he put his hand down and glared at the woman, who by now had to be getting back up, but didn't move into the street. As he locked eyes with her he mouthed, "Do not follow me or else" With that he turned and dashed back to his hideout, figuring it was too risky to continue onto the Duel Runner Impound Lot . . . Big Bad Pennar
Nos Feraku got up and flew after Lanz very fast. She did not use her eyes to track him down, but as Lanz ran, he was making noise, and lots of noise. She very easily tackled Lanz, and laid over his chest, her body weight easily pinning him down and said "Stop, you make way too much noise, and i mean way too much noise". Her tailfeathers and wings started to shrink until they were not seen anymore, her scar very visible to Lanz. "Let me take you back to my cell... You're a lot less likely to get caught in there", she could easily notice that Lanz has no duel tokens because she did not hear any low sounding chinging as Lanz was running... Jake the Sage
The woman had, despite his warning, tracked him down easily and tackled him to the ground. Hitting his head pretty hard Lanz's eyes closed shut in pain as his ears rang out and once he the pain went away he finally managed to look up. She was sitting ontop of him, somehow she weighed enough to keep him from throwing her off of him, and she leaned down to speak more softly to him about how easy it was to track him, "Odd . . . generally I wouldn't be complaining about having a girl ontop of me," he thought to himself whilst a small grin appeared on his face. His change in expression when unnoticed as the woman made her tailfeathers and other odd apendages slowly shrink until they couldn't be seen. '"Let me take you back to my cell' she said lowering herself just enough to Lanz's face. Getting a sly smile he leaned up, no more than a couple inches away from her own face, and replied, "Sorry . . . but I think this 'relationship' is moving a bit too fast for my taste." Leaning his head back Lanz quickly thrusted it forward, knocking the woman square in the face hard enough to also push her. With some of her weight off of his chest Lanz managed to lift her off and knock her off of him so he could stand. Panting he looked down at her with menacing eyes, pulling out a dagger, and held it facing her, "Now leave or start explaining yourself woman."
Super Chaos Sonic
Lan peeked out from his cell and looked around. He then took out his deck that he nicknamed, 'Birth By Sleep' and then put it away. He sighed and said,"First time I'm going out of my cell like this. I know I'll probably get in trouble....but I need to find out some information about this tournament." He then sneaked away from his cell and crept off to find out some info for the tourney. He saw a few prisoners walk past him, but he continued on, avoiding confrontation when necessary. Finally, he reached the library, with no info whatsoever. "Dang...not a single piece of information to at least tell me about this freakin' tourney." Lan sighed, not knowing someone else was in the library, watching as he walked in. Big Bad Pennar
Nos Feraku looked at the dagger and said "Oh puhlease, like that little trinket will hurt me?" but as she heard as what Lanz said, she then said back "Since I need to explain myself, I am known as Nos Feraku, and trust me, i'm none of those fat cops that eat doughnuts for Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner. You see, They isolated me from the other inmates for a reason", She said this as she turned into an exact duplicate of Lanz, Gender and all, Except her Red eyes. "You see, I am what one would call a Nue...", at which she also added "I simply got too lonely from simply sitting in my very own cell, you see, since i'm what one would call a gender switcher, so I got thrown in a hole." Jake the Sage
"Possibly . . . you never know," Lanz said before he raised an eyebrow when the woman standing in front of him transformed into a seamless clone of himself. Looking at the imposter, taking in every detail, he was amazed at how accurately she had made herself look and sound like him. What intrigued him even more was that she said she was a gender changer and had been held in a cell without any contact to the outside; this obviously meant she ahd escaped. Crossing his arms now, the blade still in his right hand, Lanz thought for a minute as she finished speaking, "At least she isn't an enemy . . . outright at least." Looking about Lanz figured that if she had escaped then it wouldn't be too long for the CIs to discover this and begin tracking her down. And because of the powers he/she had it would mean a complete lockdown of Mass Eclipse. Now he had two options, manage to loose her or bring her back with him to his hideout . . . or possibly directing her to another place she could hide.
