Recommended Posts

Welcome!

This is my first Official Contest, so I want to bring up and old topic.

In the last few years, all of the good old Archtypes have been fading. I was looking through my old decks and cards the other day and reminised about "the old days". That's when I realized that these Archtypes need to be broght back into the spotlight! So I will host a contest to do so.

[spoiler=!READ!]

You will be making a support card (Spell/Trap or a Max. Level 4 non-Tuner effect monster) for an old Archtype. There will be 10 contestants in a 3 round competition followed by a Final round with the Top 3. The contest will begin after all 10 spots are filled, then I will chose the first Archtype. After each everyone has posted there entry, I will post the results. In the first round the bottom 3 will be eliminated and in the second & third round the bottom 2. When rating the cards for this contest I will mainly be focusing on how Supportive they are to the Archtypes.

[spoiler=Rules]

20 point Entry Fee.

NO Spamming, Flamming,Trolling and so on.

[spoiler=Info]

Inpachis

Due Date: 13/12/2010

REMEMBER: Spell, Trap or Level 4 or lower NON-TUNER Effet Monster

[spoiler=The Results]

Whoever would like more detailed results, PM me ^_^

FTW: 8.7/10 - I Like! It's original with a good balance. Not very specifically supportive to Inpachis, but good indeed.

Hila: 8/10 - A bit too OP'd, but rather nice. Very supportive to Inpachis.

MysteryBanjoMan: 7/10 - It's really well done, but also OP'd. It's got too many really useful effects for a Level 1, but really nice.

Naturia Melon: 7.4/10 - I do love Gemini's, but making one is a challenge. Due to there double summons, their effects need to be really good. This is greatly helpful to Inpachis, but maybe add one more effect? Nice effort.

Spoon: 8.2/10 - It's really well made, and definately a great Inpachi support. Maybe a tad bit useless considering the small amount of Inpachi monsters, but good, good.

War Chess: 7.7/10 - Very Inpachi supportive, but I'm missing the high DEF of the Inp. monsters. But the effect is no doubt helpful.

Blind Monkey: 9.4/10 - Love it! First of all I love the fact that it carries on the Inpachi story because it's paper. I adore the effect and the template as well. It's a great support.

Sanphred: 10/10! - Wonderful! This is the kind of support cards I'm looking for! It's greatly made, very supportive and well balanced. Well done.

[spoiler=Task 2]

The second Archtype is....Dark World!

Due Date: 16/12/2010

[spoiler=The Results]

If more detailed scores are wanted, PM me :)

BlindMonkey: 8.7/10 - Great support! It works really well with Dark World cards and is fairly balanced with great OCG. Maybe a bit UP'd, but I love everything (else) about it! Well done.

FTW: 8.2/10 - Great card with typical Dark World effet and good OCG. (that's meant in a good way ^_^) At first I thought it was OP'd, but then the 2 card draw part showed up and smoothened it out a bit. Good job.

Hila: 7.4/10 - Nice card with good effect. A few OCG errors, but nice balance. May be somewhat OP'd, but a good support.

N. Melon: 6.4/10 - A fairly nice support, but UP'd with some OCG errors. It's effect may only last 1 turn, but it's an OK card.

Sanphred: 7.0/10 - It's a nice support and an OK card in general, but it's a bit UP'd. Also has a few OCG errors, but it's a fairly nice addition to Dark World.

Spoon: 9.4/10 - Great job! A wonderful support and well made. I can only see 2 OCG errors, but it has great balance. Well done.

War Chess: 8.5/10 - Very well done. A great support card and well balanced, but maybe a tiny bit UP'd. Good OCG and well made. Good job.

[spoiler=Task 3 - Semi-Final]

The Archtype for the Semi-Final is...The Goblin Forces!

[spoiler=Links]

Attack Force

Elite Attack Force

Toon Attack Force

Black Ops

Recon Squad

Decoy Squad

NEW RULE!

Only Spell, Trap and non-Tuner effect monster level 2 or lower are permitted!

Due Date: 19/12/2010

[spoiler=The Results]

NOTE: I should have mentioned when I posted this task that the name "Goblin Forces" could be used as the common word for this Archtype, so this will be ignored when rating. Though you all have handled it very well :)

If more detailed scores are wanted, PM me :)

FTW: NOT ENTERED

War Chess: 7/10 - A good support, but too small effect for a field spell, especially with this Archtype. There are few OCG errors and it's slightly well balanced. The pic is great, but I expected a bit more from the card.

BlindMonkey: 8/10 - Well made card as always, but it lacks the support I'm looking for in this Archtype. The pic, name, OCG etc. is great, but it's still missing that little effect involving their defense issue. But for a card made on such short notice it's damn well made!

Spoon: 9.2/10 - What can I say? You've just got a talent for this. Again you've delivered a splendid card with no visible OCG errors in my sight and a great balance. Good support, guess the only thing that pulled down was the pic, which wasn't so bad. ^^ Well done.

Hila: 10/10 - What can I say? You've just got a talent for this. Wonderful card as always with perfect OCG and balace. Great support and awesome pic. A well deserved 10.

[spoiler=Task 4 - The Finals!]

The final Archtype is ofc one of the biggest and oldest....DARK MAGICIANS!

[spoiler=Info]

Information on The Dark Magicians

NOTE: This only includes cards that support or are directly related to the Main Magicians, the founders: Dark M., Dark M. Girl, Dark M. of Chaos etc. NOT the Spell Counter related ones: Breaker the Magical Warrior etc.

NEW RULE!

Only Spell and Trap Cards are permitted!

Due Date: 28/12/2010 - Take your time.

[spoiler=The Final Results]

[spoiler=Hila Equitatus Inflectus]

302788.jpg

Name: 4.5/5 - Very nice, but in my opinion the "of Empowerment" was a bit too much, but others may differ.

Pic: 5/5 - I love it because it is the Dark Magic Seal/Circle that is used in almost all D.M. monsters, nicely chosen.

Effect: 7/10 - It's good. I like that it has several effects, but maybe too many. It seems like it's just a bunche of random effects put together, but are ofc helpful to the Archtype even though you left out some cards. Skilled Dark Magician has "Dark Magician" in both it's name and card text. And there were a few thing I needed to read several times before I understood them.

[spoiler=OCG: 7.5/10]

As long as this card is face up on the field, Once per turn, if a monster with "Dark Magician" in it's card name or text where to be destroyed as a result of battle or by a card effect, it is not. During your Standby Phase, you must Tribute one 1 monster with "Dark Magician" in it's card name or text. If you cannot, destroy this card. The following effect applies to the monster you tributedThis card gains 1 of the following effects depending on the Tributed monster:

● Dark Magician: Until the End Phase Increase the ATK of all Spellcaster-Type monsters on the field by 300 until the End Phase. and When a Spellcaster-Type monster on your side of the field you control attacks with an ATK that is higher than the DEF of a Defense Position monster, inflict the difference as Battle Damage to your opponent's Life Points.

● Dark Magician Girl: Select 1 face-up monster with "Dark Magician" in it's card name or text. Inflict damage to your opponents Life Points equal to the orignal ATK or DEF of the selected monster. During this turn only the selected monster can declare an attack.

● Dark Eradicator Warlock: Reveal your hand. Then inflict 1000 points of damage to your opponents Life Points for each Spell and Trap card in your Hand.

● Dark Magician Knight: Destroy up to 3 cards on the field. Then send the top 2 cards of your Deck to the Graveyard.

● Dark Sage: Add 2 Spell Cards from your Deck to your Hand. Then remove the top 2 cards of your Deck from play.

During your End Phases increase your Life Points by 100 for each face up Spellcaster-Type monster on the field.

Support: 7/10 - It gives good support to the Archtype, but is unlikely to be used to it's full potential considering you will not have that many D.M. monsters on the field to keep it in play.

Overall: 31/40 - 6.2/10

[spoiler=BlindMonkey]

testroom.jpg

Name: 4/5 - It's a fitting name, but to make it even more fitting to the Archtype, I'd like it if you had Dark Magical Test Room. But it's a fitting and well chosen name.

Pic: 4.5/5 - It's alright, great quality and all that stuff and I even see several Spellcaster-like figures at the bottom that look like Dark Magicians. Nicely chosen.

Effect: 8/10 - Very nice. A helpful card to the Archtype and well made. Nicely balanced since it relies on chance, but I think the pic was a little off when it comes to the effect.

[spoiler=OCG: 8.5/10

After you activate this cardactivation, return all cards with "Dark Magician" in their name from your Graveyard or and Removed from Play Zone to the your Deck. and then Draw cards up equal to the number of monsters returned to the your Deck by this effect. Either Both players can Normal Summon Level 5 or higher "Dark Magician" monsters without a Tribute. If this effect is activated, destroy that monster during the End Phase. You can remove this face-up card from play to Special Summon 1 "Ethereal Test Token" (Thunder-Type/DARK/Level 1/ATK ?/DEF ?). The original ATK and DEF of that Token are equal to the number of "Dark Magician" monsters destroyed by this card's effect x1000.

Support: 8/10 - The summoning help is a great support for this archtype considering all the high level monsters. Also the returning effect is ofc a great help, but there could have been more support.

Overall: 33/40 - 6.6/10

[spoiler=Spoon]

breaking.jpg

Name: 4/5 - It fits the pic, but not the best name I've come across for this Archtype. Ofc all D.M. cards don't need to have "Dark Magic" in them, but a little something that shows what cards it supports would be a nice addition.

Pic: 5/5 - I really like. The pic really fits for this cards effect and is it just me or does that look a lot like D.M. Girl? (or at least Mana from the final season of the first series) But, I still can't figure out what that little pink light thingy that looks like a mini-Majestic Dragon at the bottom of the pic is, I really like it ^_^.

Effect: 10/10 - It's a wonderful card to have in a D.M. deck and is well balanced. I use a D.M. Deck and I want this card in it! It's a great life-saver to have and with the right Spell Cards, this can get you back on track!

[spoiler=OCG: 9.5/10

Activate only if your Life Points become 0. If you control a face-up "Dark Magician" or "Dark Magician Girl", you can activate this card from your hand. Destroy all cards you control except "Dark Magician" and "Dark Magician Girl", then, if you control a "Dark Magician" and no "Dark Magician Girl", Special Summon 1 "Dark Magician Girl" from your hand, Deck or Graveyard. If you control a "Dark Magician Girl" and no "Dark Magician", Special Summon 1 "Dark Magician" from your hand, Deck or Graveyard. (I think you can just write "and vice-versa. At least that's what Curse of Fiend uses, but then agiain it's a really old card.) If you control neither of them, Special Summon both from your hand, Deck or Graveyard. The Summon of those monsters cannot be negated. As long as this card remains face-up on the field, you cannot Summon or Set other monsters, you cannot activate Spell Cards from your hand, you cannot activate Trap Cards and you cannot lose the Duel by having 0 Life Points. Once per turn, during your Main Phase, you can activate 1 Spell Card from your Graveyard. If you do, remove that card from play (I'm pretty sure what you're trying to say is that it is removed from play after activation, but what about continuous?) If a "Dark Magician" or "Dark Magician Girl" you control is removed from the field, destroy this card.

Support: 6.5/10 - I love it because it's a life-saver and all, but is it really that good a support? It helps the user alot and can direct the duel to his/her favor, but it doesn't really support this archtype in particular. Could of had more support, but a darn well made, awesome card!

Overall: 35/40 - 7/10
