The Three-Faced God

Umbra

Recommended Posts

Basically, a boss that keeps reviving itself, becoming stronger as it does so. When all three faces hit the field, the god's full power can be unleashed.

The Three-Faced God
DIVINE
Fairy
8 / 0 / 0
This card cannot be Summoned except by its own effect. If you control no monsters except "The Three-Faced God", you can Special Summon this card from your hand or Graveyard. You can only Special Summon 1 "The Three-Faced God" per turn. Control of this card cannot change. If you control a monster other than "The Three-Faced God", destroy this card. When this card is Summoned, it gains 1 of the following effects, depending on the number of "The Three-Faced God" you control:
• 1: This card cannot be destroyed by battle. Any Battle Damage you would take from battles involving this card becomes 0.
• 2: Once per turn, you can inflict 1000 damage to your opponent. If you used this effect during your last turn, inflict 600 damage instead.
• 3: This card's ATK/DEF becomes 4000. You can remove from play 2 "The Three-Faced God" you control to remove from play all cards on the field. All cards removed from play are returned to the same position during the End Phase.

(I'm not sure whether the monster counts as being under you control while it is being Summoned; this effect assumes that it does.)

Blessing of the Three-Faced God
Quick-Play Spell
Reveal 1 "The Three-Faced God" in your hand until the End Phase, and select 1 monster you control. Until the End Phase, if the selected monster destroys a monster by battle, inflict damage to your opponent equal to the destroyed monster's ATK. The revealed monster cannot be Summoned until your next End Phase.

Curse of the Three-Faced God
Quick-Play Spell
Reveal 1 "The Three-Faced God" in your hand until the End Phase, and select 1 monster your opponent controls. The selected monster's ATK becomes 0 until the End Phase. Any Battle Damage your opponent takes from battles involving the selected monster is increased by 500. The revealed monster cannot be Summoned until your next End Phase.

Will of the Three-Faced God
Normal Spell
Activate only while you control exactly 3 "The Three-Faced God". Return all cards on the field to their owner's hand. You cannot Summon "The Three-Faced God" this turn.

Hopeless Fanatic
LIGHT
Fairy
4 / 0 / 0
If you have at least 1 "The Three-Faced God" revealed in your hand, this card's ATK becomes 2400.

Dedicated Preacher
LIGHT
Fairy
4 / 700 / 900
Once per turn, you can add 1 "The Three-Faced God" Spell Card in your Graveyard to your hand.

Son of the Three-Faced God
LIGHT
Fairy
6 / 900 / 900
This card gains 1000 ATK for each "The Three-Faced God" in your Graveyard. If this card was Tribute Summoned, you can Tribute this card to Special Summon 1 "The Three-Faced God" from your Deck or that is removed from play.

Nameless Sacrifice
LIGHT
Fairy
2 / 1000 / 1000
You can Tribute this card to add 1 "The Three-Faced God" card in your Deck to your hand.

Dimensional Ascendant
LIGHT
Fairy
4 / 800 / 2200
Any Battle Damage this defending card inflicts is doubled. When this card inflicts Battle Damage to your opponent, remove it from play and add 1 "The Three-Faced God" card that is removed from play to your hand.

Dark Messiah of the False Gods
DARK
Fairy
8 / 0 / 0
If you control no monsters, you can Normal Summon this card without Tribute. This card's name is treated as "The Three-Faced God" while it is face-up on the field. If you control at least 1 other monster, this card cannot be destroyed by battle, and any Battle Damage you take from battles involving this card becomes 500.

Three-Faced Greed
Continuous Spell
Return 3 "The Three-Faced God" you control to your Deck. During each of your Draw Phases, draw 2 cards instead of 1. If this card is removed from the field, add 1 "The Three-Faced God" in your Deck to your hand.

Flight of the Dead Gods
Quick-Play Spell
Until the End Phase, if you would take Battle Damage, you can add 1 "The Three-Faced God" that is removed from play to your hand instead.

What do you think? Underpowered? Overpowered? Just confusing?

[spoiler=Unrelated Bonus Card]
Shattered Reality
Continuous Spell
When this card is activated, place 10 Reality Counters on it. Once per turn, at the end of their Main Phase 1, either player can move 1 Reality Counter from this card to another card they control to remove from play all cards on the field (except this card) until the End Phase. This card gains the following effects, depending on the number of Reality Counters on it:
1+: This card cannot be removed from the field. When a card with Reality Counters on it is removed from the field, inflict 800 damage to its controller.
3+: Halve the ATK of all monsters on the field.
5+: After a monster battles, its position is switched.
7+: During each player's Standby Phase, decrease the ATK of all monsters by 200.
9+: A player can Tribute 2 monsters they control to draw 1 card.
10: If a monster is removed from the field, its original owner can discard 1 card to add that monster to their hand.

I like the "Strange Idea" umbra
the written cards seem pretty good to me although that in my opinion, The Three-Faced God might be a bit Overpowered? because of

It's an innovative strategy but not that efficient, as it requires certain dedication and nowadays it's rather easy to render things unusable by RFPing them or returning them to the deck. Compulsory Evacuation Device is this guy's best friend, as is Trade-In. Also battle protection cards are necessary for the two Gods that will not be protected from battle. The problem with these guys is that, even though they are easy and fast to get out, they need a lot of protection, and are comparatively slow and underwhelming for their defenses.

The first effect is alright, decent enough as a wall. The second effect is quite good, although I believe it's not worth the hassle. The third effect I'm not really sure what to think of it, it's essentially 4000 damage but you won't have much to show for it afterwards, since your other 2 gods are gone, probably for good. Unless you run BftDD, which is a good idea.

Essentially your idea is fine, it just runs into the general problem that a lot of decks focusing on a boss card suffer from, it's way too easy to deal with a single card, and even when run at 3 it's not hard to get rid of it. Just a stray Crow could really ruin your day, as could a lot of other cards. And so far it doesn't seem like a deck based on this would have many alternate plays to make - the support is well-made and all but it doesn't change the situation. What you probably need for this to work is a few decent ways to recycle the Gods reliably, especially if they end up RFP, and some protection.

And by the way yes, the moment you Summon your monster successfully (aka summon not negated) it is treated as if it is on the field and under its owner's control, so you should have no problem with that.

Notice that all effects are permanent, no matter how many Gods are on the field; it only counts them at the time of summoning. After using the effect, it still has 4000 ATK/DEF.

RFP is the weakness, yes, but that was intended. As you said, BfaDD works great in here. I suppose I might add some support to help against that weakness, but I won't nullify it.

Son should be:

"If this card was Tribute Summoned, you can Tribute this card you control to Special Summon 1 "The Three-Faced God" you own from your Deck or that is removed from play." Otherwise you could theoretically tribute this card your opponent T-Summoned to SS 1 of their removed 3-faced to your side. Rulings are a little murky, best be safe.

I like the additions, they focus on a more cycle type of play that is a bit harder to disrupt effectively, which is necessary since a deck would rely almost exclusively on this card to win. Now you just need a good d-p card that aids in the whole recycling - back to deck process to speed things up a little.

I guess that if the other 2 gods are destroyed you will be in a tight situation....not very combineable with a good deck but I like how it works together

That is sorta the point. It's not supposed to be splashable into just any deck.

Thanks for your input, though.
