Yusei and Aki's Christmas Miracle

Part 1: The Fateful Meeting

It was snowing gently in the streets of New Domino City. Christmas time was here again and the streets were flooding with Christmas spirit. Among all of them, one was not in the Christmas mood. It was Aki.

"Stupid holiday. What's everyone getting so excited about?" Aki mumbled. She noticed a Santa cut out staring at her and she knocked it down. As she walked, she scared children caroling and made everyone around her nervous.

"What's their deal? It's not like I'm doing anything." Aki thought. She kept her face hidden behind her coat's collar and huffed at everything she saw that was Christmas related.

"Man. She is scary." a man whispered.

"Yeah. Look at her. What's her issue?" a woman said. Aki glared at her and the woman froze up with fright. Aki groaned and kept walking. Eventually, she took the hood on her jacket and covered her head with it. It stretched down and hid her eyes.

"I'm out of here." Aki thought. But as she walked, she didn't count on what was about to happen. Yusei was leaving a card shop with Luka at his side. Their duel disks rested on their arms.

"Well, so much for that place." Yusei said. Luka sighed and crossed his arms behind his head.

"Yeah. I know. All the good stuff is already gone by now." Luka sighed. Yusei and Luka walked down the sidewalk until Yusei's shoulder bumped into Aki. Unlike Yusei, Aki didn't stop until Yusei's hand was on her shoulder.

"Hey. Wait a second. Don't you have something you want to say?" Yusei asked.

"Yeah! Like an apology or something? Geez!" Luka shouted. Aki glanced back and growled. But she suddenly gasped when she saw Yusei's face from under her hood.

"Wait. I know you. From the Fortune Cup." Aki said. Aki pulled her hood back, exposing her face.

"Whoa. Hold on. You're...You're...Aki! Aki Izayoi! Yeah. Now I remember." Luka stuttered. Yusei and Aki stared at each other's face without a word.

"Aki? What are you doing out here?" Yusei asked. Aki stuttered before looking away.

"What's it matter to you? I still hate you." Aki said. Yusei suddenly felt confused.

"Wait. For what?" Yusei said. Aki glanced back at him.

"For what happened back at the Fortune Cup. I don't take kindly to those who beat me." Aki said. Yusei wasn't sure about that. He remembered seeing Aki's crying face after he beat her. But before he could say or do anything, Divine guided her off the field as she was being foul mouthed at constantly by the audience.

"So what? That still doesn't explain squat." Luka said. Aki growled and stared down at Luka. Luka stuttered and backed away slowly.

"Uhh...right! Never mind then." Ruka said. Yusei stared firmly at Aki's face.

"Don't lie Aki. I saw your face. You were crying out there and called out to me for help." Yusei said. Aki groaned.

"We both know it Aki. You just don't want to say anything." Yusei said. Aki growled.

"Yeah? So what if I am? At least I don't have a pretty little birth mark on my face!" Aki shouted. Yusei and Luka glanced at Yusei's criminal marker and Luka growled.

"Hey! You shut it! Yusei's the coolest! Criminal mark or not, he still beat you!" Luka shouted. Yusei put his arm out in front of Luka.

"But...Yusei!" Luka shouted.

"Forget it Luka. Let's just go." Yusei said. The two continued off with Aki leaving with a huff.

"Stupid Yusei. Why did I ever meet such a guy like him?" Aki said. Aki entered the park and sat down on a bench. Snow fell off a tree branch above her and dropped onto her head. She growled and wiped it off.

"This whole town is full of imbeciles." Aki growled. But just then, some snotty appearing bikers approached Aki looking angrily at her. The leader approached her.

"Hey. Look honey. You got some issue you'd like to discuss?" he said. Aki huffed and looked away.

"Beat it punk." Aki muttered. The leader approached Aki and stared closely at her face.

"What was that? You asking for trouble or something?" he said. Aki just huffed. The bikers chuckled and grabbed Aki by her coat's neck. They pulled her off the bench and threw her into the snow.

"Well, sounds like you need a little discipline training! And we're gonna make you act more nice to us! Ya got it?" he shouted. Aki groaned and looked back at them, only to have her face pushed into the snow. The bikers laughed.

"What's wrong? Not so tough now! Are ya?" one shouted. From the nearby sidewalk, Yusei heard the commotion and saw Aki struggling. Luka noticed shortly after.

"Hey! What are those guys doing?" Luka shouted. The two rushed over as Aki was being held down.

"Now what you got to say? Huh?" the leader shouted. He noticed Yusei and Luka's shadows standing in front of them.

"Heh? What are you looking at?" he said. Suddenly, Yusei made a snowball and threw it at the guy's face. As he brushed the snow off, Yusei shoved him off Aki and he tumbled down.

"Hey! You got some problem punk?" one of them shouted.

"Yeah, I've got a problem. That's not how you're supposed to treat people, especially ladies." Yusei said. Luka stood firmly at Yusei's side.

"So what if we're not being courteous? She's getting what she deserves for not being very friendly herself." the leader said. But Yusei's firm face didn't change.

"Well how about this? You can leave her alone and get lost or we can do this the harder way." Yusei said. When he asked what "the harder way" was, Yusei challenged him to a duel. If he won, they would back off Aki. But if he lost, they could give him the same treatment they were giving Aki.

"Hmm. You just got yourself a duel stranger. I don't lose and I'm not about to let some little worm like you ruin my fun." the leader said. Luka groaned as he prepared a duel disk. Yusei activated his and the two dueled. And in ten minutes, Yusei and Nitro Warrior drained him of all his lifepoints and Yusei didn't take one point of damage.

"No way! The boss lost?" one of them shouted. The leader collapsed and looked up at Yusei stuttering.

"Now get lost! Or do I need to make you all leave?" Yusei shouted. The gang suddenly went running away, with their leader bringing up the rear.

"Yeah! You better run!" Luka shouted. Yusei approached Aki and helped her up. She dusted herself off.

"Thanks, I suppose." Aki said. Yusei asked her what the deal was with her anger before and she sighed.

"If you're going to keep asking that, it's because I'm not a big Christmas fan. Never have been." Aki said. Yusei and Luka glanced at each other.

"Really? You...You don't like the holidays?" Luka said.

"When you're the Black Rose Witch, what do you like?" Aki said. Yusei put his hand on her shoulder and she looked at him.

"Who said you were a witch? You're a great duelist who just seems to have trouble being with others." Yusei said. Aki asked where he was going with this.

"Hmm. I think I know." Luka said.

"Why not come stay with us for the holidays? I'm sure me and my friends can warm that "witch" heart of yours." Yusei said. Aki gasped and looked away blushing.

"For real? There's no way I would..." Aki said. Yusei took her hand and she blushed more.

"Come on. I think you deserve a little cheer too." Yusei said. Together, the three of them walked on as it started to snow.
