Quiksilver
You're probably wondering what I am doing here, since I am not a Graphic Artist and have never posted in the GD section of YCM before. Well, truth be told, I AM a Graphic Artist, I've just been posting in the 37 forum until now. But I've decided to move into this GD Forum, so rejoice. Or curse. Your choice. Anyways, here is one of my sigs. Without Text With Text CnC, Please. Legend Zero
Where is the light coming from? It looks like somewhere under the left side arm...
Quiksilver
I think so. I'm pretty sure I positioned the light source underneath and to the left of Jirachi, as that is where the lighter section of the sig is.
-DG-
The light source should be top right. Your render says so

Your render says so
Damn, I knew someone would see that. I had a couple of problems with the render and light sourcing, since placing the light source in the bottom obscured aspects of the render- and so, I decided to leave it how it was. You're correct, though. I tried using Soft Light to create an effect like the light was coming from beneath it, but obviously it didn't work well. Shadius
Soft brushing is only useful (when it comes to lighting anyways) when you want to add a bit of color to the lighting, which in that case you would lower the opacity on the soft brush so it just faintly adds the color. If you want more freedom and control with your lighting you should learn the burn and dodge tools. The burn tool lets you make things darker while keeping their basic colors and dodge makes things brighter.
六兆年と一夜物語
Wouldn't Apply Image then Render -> Lighting Effect work? Unless you're using Gimp... The flow I'm feeling is that Jirachi is falling down (with most of the C4Ds pointing downward), and yet Jirachi feels like he/she/it should be flying. Quiksilver
@Shadius: Good tips. I might try that. @Japanese-kanji-person: That doesn't work because I have Photoshop Elements, and can't do that. I have to find work-arounds. However, I'm pushing my parents to get the REAL photoshop. And the feel I was going for was Jirachi flying downwards, towards something like a planet (since it's a space background), so...yeah. Dark Lightning
The red color seems to strong and out of place, IMO. Tag is nice, but you should add effects to the text. Otherwise the text doesn't make it better.
