Navras
Godrick turned slightly at the soldier who had sent him Maxwell's message and bid him a due almost before the message was out of his mouth. Of course there's monsters, he thought. Thanks to Vexotira, breeding them for sport, they're all over this contenant now. This shouldn't be much of a problem, but I'm still worried... Some fifteen minutes later, Maxwell and the others came to Godrick at the entrance of the canyon. He looked around at all those who had decided to join him, a little more than he had expected, and nodded. Without saying a word, he turned away fromthe small crowd and began walking down the path set before him. It would take them about four days to get over to the next counrties border, assuming of course that the quickest way over teh border wasn't blocked or destroyed. In that time, it would be up to Godrick to defend his allies while they slept through the night. The first day of travel went without inccident, not so much as a single monster tried to get the jump on them, but Godrick wasn't fooled. He knew they were out there watching at all times with hungry eyes. He decided to make camp before the sun fell behind the Tiny Mountains behind them and set Maxwell and three others on guard duty, one in each direction. "Should there be any sign of a single monster," he told the four of them, "you wake me up in an instant. Do you understand? Do not try to take these things on by yourselves, you'll get killed that way." After this small speech, Godrick retired to the camp fire where he sat for a few hours before going to sleep for the first night.
galesonic
As Godrick went to sleep, Maxwell took his post at the east part of the campfire. The other three soldiers were spedning their time talking and drinking from their canteens, which they were supposed to save for the trip. Maxwell pretened not to listen, but he couldn't help it. "I heard that there are ninjas in this area. Not only that, I heard monster tamers as well." said one of them. "No it has to be ninjas. Monster tamers don't even live in this forest. They keep saying they live in the forest near The Vextorian capital." said another. "Then how do you explain the recent monster attacks in the continent, huh? More than half of those monsters aren't even hostile ones. Thats some really freaky stuff right there." argued the third soldier. In less than half an hour, they finished all of the canteens, excluding Godrick's. One of them got them all. "Hey Maxwell. You mind if you fill these canteens up?" Maxwell was surprised. "You finished them all? Come on...okay, but if I send a fire spell up into the sky, you must wake Godrick." he said in a serious tone as he picked up the canteens. The soldier just went 'yeah yeah yeah' and went back to his conversation. There was a stream that wasn't far form where they were, but just to be safe, Maxwell took out his gunblade as he treked through the forest to find the stream. Navras
There came a glow in the night heading in Maxwell's direction. Nothing but a small sphere in the vast darkness that sucumbed the forest at night, bouncing from side to side almost lazily. As the light drew closer, it's carrier did as well. Before long a shape was able to be seen in the darkness, and not long after that details began to make themselves clear. For example, the light brown robe that was slightly too large for it's wearer that had different odd color patches here and there on it, the green head that poked out of the top of the clothe with yellow eyes, teh dark brown traveling slippers that it wore, and the knife that it held in it's opposite hand. A Tonberry drew near. It stopped, however, not but ten feet away from where Maxwell stood. It held up it's lantern to look at Maxwell's face but then looked over to left, as if seenig if anyone else were there. For a few seconds there was silence. After those seconds passed, the Tonberry turned away from Maxwell and walked away, becoming once again just a bouncing ball of light in the night. Maxwell thought that at first he could relax. Until he heard the flapping of wings in the night. (Just in case you couldn't guess, there's at least one NiteOwl after you now.)
galesonic
Maxwell looked aorund to find the loud flapping. He tried sensing its mana, but he couldn't. A scenerio like this either means two things: 1. The monster is smart enough to mask its mana, which is difficult to do. Or 2: The monster was artificial. Maxwell thought of it as a smart monster and took out his gunblade for protection. He couldn't see it in the night, so he had no choice but to rely on hearing. He kept still, listening to when the monster got closer. As he heard the flapping at his loudest he girpped the gunblade hard and slashed at the sound. He didn't hear any sound of the blade hitting flesh or bone. all of a sudden, a flurry of knife-like objects flew by and camoflauged by the night, Maxwell couldn't anticipate it. He was cut on his arm, along with cutting the left sleeve of his SeeD uniform. "What a clever one." he said to himself as he pulled the safety of the gunblade. This meant that he was gonna channel a spell through it. He lifted it up into the air and aimed it. As if by pure luck, the clouds in the sky moved away and let the moon shine. The light of the moon revealed the flying monster. A NightOwl, and a big one at that. His razor shap wings were flapping in the air, almost looking like cutting it. Maxwell aimed the end of the gunblade at the NightOwl, who stood it ground. Th blade started to glow orange, signifying that Fire was gonna be casted. "If I cast this, that would be the signal that there is trouble. Even if it hits or miss, I must stand my ground." he thought as he pulled the trigger of the gunblade, sending out the spell at the NightOwl. Navras
The Niteowl flew to the side of Maxwell's fire spell and looked at him almost mockingly, almost to say "You're not goign to win this easily." _ The three guards who had been talking to one another had begun talking again almost as soon as Maxwll left them. By chance, one of them looked into the forest to see a bobbing ball of light in the night. He was instantly captivated. What could it be? When it got close to the fire, he saw that it was a Tonberry. Terrified, he turned to his cmpanions and warned them of the danger. They were all on alert in an instant, knowing fullwell the stories that Tonberries create. There was a stand off between the group and the Tonberry. It ended when the Tonberry pointed upwards at the sky. Confused, the guard who had spotted the Tonberry looked up to see just in time the Fire spell Maxwell sent off. Remembering what Maxwell had said to them, he turned to his companions and said, "Get Godrick, wake him immedeately!" The guard looked back and saw the Tonberry walking away into the night. _ Three minutes later, Godrick was headin off in the direction that Maxwell had headed off into, scythe in hand, thinking as he went, Maxwell you idiot, never go out alone, not even just to fill up a canteen or two!
---------------
(Srry I've been gone. :[ ) Kain boarded the Emperor's ship and was quickly shown to his quarters. He needn't be with the survivors at the moment as most of them are being cared for. One of the guards told him to prepare for a meeting about his rank tomorrow. Kain sat on the bed in his room and sighed. The General was a friend of his. He was one of the few people to accept him even though he came from another world. Though he knew this was the likely outcome, Kain was sincerely worried that the General would be execu-- Kain then heard a thump, which rudely broke my monologue. He looked at the ground, and saw that the Crystal he had found earlier fell out from his inventory. He picked it up and examined it. It was like the Water Crystal back home, except more refined. It was light blue in color, and shining brilliantly. He almost was put into a trance by its beauty... ...until he felt the ship take off, and the General's hourglass run on a few grains. galesonic
Maxwell looked at the NightOwl and started to think. NightOwls are random elements at times, but they shared the same weakness: Water. If their feathers get wet, they can't use their wings to fly or attack. They'll be sitting ducks. Maxwell had to think of a plan fast. He looked to the sky, which showed the monster in plain sight. It was huge, larger than a normal NightOwl and it had jet black feathers. Now that he could see it, he can do something to stop it. He raised his hand towards the NightOwl as it stayed in place. He couldn't hear what NightOwl was saying this time, but he thought he was egged on to use it. "Okay then. I'll give it to you." he said as a giant ball of water surrounded the NightOwl, trappig him in Water. The ball then collasped and drenched the NightOwl in magical water, which not only damaged it, but made its wings useless. As the NightOwl fell he could hear it laugh. "Thats right. Just keep doing that and take my feathers." he heard it say in a deep, intimidating tone.
Roblixinator
Nike was following Godrick when he tripped on a tree root and fell.He got back up but Godrick was already out of sight.Nike heard the flapping of wings and turned to see a 10-foot NightOwl.He thought of Godricks rules about handling the creatures alone. He drew his keyblade and muttered a chant:oh ma ka la shu ta. A gigantic fire ball the size of the NightOwl he was facing zoomed up and exploded into the words: GODRICLK HELP!!!THERES A 10-FOOT NIGHTOWL THATS ABOUT TO- The fire sentence was cut off when the nightowl sliced his right boot and it broke. He made his Keyblade a double-bladed sword and started rapidally swinging it and slice it and soon had the Nightowl's tail cut off and a huge cut in its back, while Nike had his breastplate cut and sliced and ripped and a gigantic scar on his left eye and shredded up boots. He made his blade turn into an Axe and then he swung his Axe at the nightowl and now it's back had a gigantic X on his back and a stab in it's head.He was Getting meaner and then soon had Nike's Breastplate and shirt destroyed so he now had his chest showin. Navras
Godrick came flying through the night, pulling his scythe out from behind his back and slicing the Niteowl across the chest. The Niteowl screamed with pain and fell over on the ground, now too wounded to move. Breathing hard from adrenaline, he turned to Nike, pointing his scythe at him and asked, "Why did you follow me? I didn't order you do, I intended to do this alone. Look at you! One Niteowl and you're already in shreds practically." Godrick sighed and looked off into the direction that Maxwell must still be waiting at. He looked back to Nike and said, "Come on, if you're going to come with me you're going to follow my every footstep, understand?" He reached down and grabbed with Remained of Nike's breastplate and pulled him to his feet by it. He then ran off towards Maxwell, shouting behind him as he did, "Come on!" _ *Inside Emperor Mundous' chambers* The general was hauled inside by two of Emperor Mundous' personal guards. His hands were bound in front of him and his eyes were on the floor, almost seeing what fate awaited him. One of the guards shut the door behind them while the other pushed the general to the floor. Giving small shout of surprise, the general fell down face first on the floor. One of the guards hauled him to his feet and said, "Stay standing! You're before his majesty the emperor!" The general looked up, half on his feet, half on his knees, and saw Emperor Mundous sitting on his throne. He held in his hand the small end of what looked like a staff, the other end of it hidden behind the throne itself. The emperor was looking down at the floor in between his feet. For a minute or so the four of them were like this, each one remaining as silent as the last. Finally, Emperor Mundous looked up at the general, his icy glare fixating only on him. "My Armies generals were as carefully chosen as the stars, and I will not tolerate a failure of this magnitude from any of my generals." Standing up, he continued. "You will be flogged. And when we make port back in the capital city, god willing, you will be flogged some more. And when we unload you will be executed in front of all of your soldiers to make an example of those who might make a mistake such as yours." Looking at the two guards, Emperor Mundous flicked his head and said, "To the brig." before turning and sitting back in his chair. The guards picked The General up by his arms and carried him away to the brig, where he was viciously whipped with thick yet bendable rods until his back was bleeding. All the while the ship flew closer and closer to the capital. *Two days later, at the Air port of the capital City of Vertoria, Florrantine*
galesonic
Maxwell looked at the NightOwl as it fell to the ground. He held his gunblade tight just in case anything funny happened. It was then that he realized that he heard laughter. It was coming from the monster. It got up and shook its feathers dry as it had a hearty laugh. "You're a smart boy. Distracting me with Fire and then using Water to immobilize me." he said in an apealling tone. Maxwell only laughed nervously. "Yeah...distracted." The monster walked closer. As it walked closer, Maxwells arm started to burn. It was right at his mage tattoo. "So I was right. You are a son of a Mage. And gussing by the mark, its a Red Mage. I tell you, I may be a smart monster, but I'm not savage." Maxwell was honestly surprised at this comment. He just made a double standard. "Wait a minute, you just attacked me. By what I think, thats savage." The NightOwl just laughed as it squatted down, coving its torso with its wings, showing piercing yellow eyes at the half-mage. "Sit down, young mage. I'd like to discuss this." All that Maxwell could do was set down his gunblade and sit on the ground. The discussion then began. The NightOwl then rose into the air and flew into the shadows, going overhead Godrick and the others. After he left as Maxwell looked at the feather. It looked soft like regular feather, but it was sharp at the treading. "How is this supposed to help me with my conflict?" he asked himself as he looked at the moon.
"Its good to see a Red Mage here in the forest. Its been a while since I've seen one for myself. Magificent ones, aren't they?" the monster asked Maxwell. "Well, I'm not really a Red Mage. Only my mother is. I'm a SeeD." he said in as he looked at his hands. "Hmmm...SeeD. Never heard of them. Say, what do these SeeDs call you anyway?" "My name is Maxwell D. Fathos. What about you?" Maxwell got up and looked at the NightOwl "In your tongue, my name would be translated to Azra, Guardian of the Tree Shadows" e said as he spread his wings, sending a gust of wind into the forest to show pride. "I sense other people coming. I'll leave you with a feather." he moved his wing around and a feather dropped. Maxwell picked it up by the strand. "What is this supposed to do?" he asked. If I am near, it would turn white. You get enough NightOwl feathers and you can find a special tunnel. What you need to figure out your conflic lies in there."
Navras
"Maxwell!" Godrick called out, running up through a clearing so that he and Maxwell were face to face. "Maxwell, are you alright?" Godrick asked, looking him up and down. Before letting Maxwell answer, Godrick strode over to Maxwell, scythe in hand, and grabbed him by the front of his shirt and pulling up. "You idiot! I thought people would have enough sense to stay together at night! Even if it's just to get water!" Godrick let go of Maxwell's shirt and turned away from him. He began walking away, saying to Maxwell as he did in a calmer voice, "WE have too few people with us now for anyone man to be expendable, that includes you. Don't do something stupid like this again." With that, he walked past Nike and headed back for camp.
Roblixinator
Nike triped on the same tree root and got back up.He followed Godrick until he saw a spare knife with two snakes curled around a sword. He picked it up and carved a sheath out of the oak tree next to him and then he put the knife into it then put it onto his belt.He then followed Godrick back to camp where he went into his tent and saw the person he was sharing with asleep. He silently started shining his keyblade. Navras
OOC:..................... Raxtus, i know that things are going slowly in the RP right now, but one, that doesn't make a bit of sense because the Vextorian king, and his soldiers mind you, are in an air ship headed for the capital city of Vextoria, while we had headed in the opposite direction. And did I read something about a wand? No, no, no, just no. Please fix that post right now. Make it something like you follow Godrick back to camp and when you get that you sit around the fire or something, please. IC: Godrick walked back into the camp with Maxwell and Nike in tow. When Godrick became visible in the light, three guards, the three he had set up to be on duty with Maxwell, came rushing towards him. Godrick lifted up his scythe threateningly and said in a low growl, "Never make a mistake like that again. Mistakes like that are how people lose wars, and make no mistake, we're at war!" Godrick lowered his scythe and looked at everyone who was in the camp light. "Everyone get some sleep. I'm keeping watch with Maxwell from now on." Wtihout saying anything else, Godrick walked over to the first, sat his scythe down, and looked into the flames, deep in thought, knowing that he just about lost two soldiers that he so desperately needed right now. galesonic
Maxwell sat near the camping area looking at the stars. They were completely different compared to the ones he used to see in Balamb, but it was better than nothing. As usual, the guards were busy doing things to pass the time. This time they were playing Triple Triad and one of the soldiers apparently won the game. "What the hell?!" one of the soldiers yelled. "Where'd you get a Magna Rex card. There's only 2 in the region." "I got them from that crazy guy with the cat." the other one responded. "It wasn't easy, but I beat him nonetheless. Now hand over that Dispair Ace card." Maxwell couldn't help but grin a little at this. Even in times of harship, they still had time to fool around once or twice.
Navras
OOC: OOOO... good idea, mixing up little side games from other FFs.... didn't think of that... IC: Godrick stayed up the rest of that night, unable to sleep even when the sun began to rise on the horizon. He waited until the sun was a good ways int the sky before rousing Maxwell and telling him to wake the others. "Afterward," Godrick said, "You're to meet me at the northern edge of this clearing. We'll be at our destination before long, so get prepared for that." Having Given Maxwell his instructions, Godrick went tot he northern edge of the clearing to await Maxwell's Arrival. Roblixinator
Nike stoped shining his blade and sheathed it.He thought of trying a teleporting spell he learned from his dad when he remembered that he had never gotten any progress into it and everytime he tried it he ended up ontop of a tree, and he thought that he could not risk it it when Godrick was like this and it was night. He walked outside to get some fresh air when he saw Godrick running into the forest. He grabbed a spare knife that he found in the forest. He went over to the nearest tree and started carving 4 boomerangs when he heard a bush rustling. He thought that it wasnt anything dangerous, and he saw 10 spiders marching into the forest. He thought of following them when he knew he would probally get in big trouble with the captain. He decided to see if their where more tomorrow then he would ask Godrick about the strange spiders. He finished carving the boomerangs and then went to paint them.
