I haven't written in a long time, so please excuse obvious mistakes.
I wanted to make a strong female lead as there have been no female main characters in a Yugioh series.
I suppose if there is a demand for it,you will find out more about Rae, her grudge against whoever her grudge is against and more epic duels than the lame one I just typed up in ten minutes. Please enjoy and comment as you see fit.

Shadow Duellist - Coming soon

Alex Masters- Coming soon

Two emerald eyes moved swiftly across the mess of Duel Monster cards that were spread across the ground of the dining room. As the eyes fixed on a certain cards in the pile, a slender hand would reach out and scoop the chosen card up, adding it to the pile that was being held within the other hand. Crimson hair hung across a set of white leather covered shoulders and cascaded downwards, stopping mid back of the silent figure. Rugged and weather worn jeans covered long, well defined legs, held up with a brown belt that hugged the figures hips tightly. As the silent picking of cards continued, the clock slowly turned and time moved forward until the atmosphere was broken by the familiar ‘ding dong’ of the doorbell. With a jolt, the figure looked upwards and quickly gathered up a few more select cards and added them too the pile, just as the guest opened the front door and stepped into the room, looking down on the crimson haired girl.

“Rae, are you seriously finishing your deck now?”

From the ground, Rae looked up and gave a smile towards here friend, standing with subtlety and grace. Her eyes scanned over the boys form to make sure that he was dressed how a duelist should be dressed, and he checked out. The boy who had so rudely interrupted Rae was Alex Masters, the one person she could place all trust in, her best friend. Alex was a short boy for his age of fifteen and the light, mouse coloured hair on his head combined with his ice blue eyes gave him a very angelic look. He was dressed in a black tee, covered by a open red shirt that had its sleeves rolled up, just past his elbows. Around his waist sat a black and white checked belt that held several different deck boxes and deep crimson pants.
Rae gave a nod of acceptance towards her friends attire before brushing past him and into the kitchen of her home. From the wooden table, the female grabbed a grey duel disk and slipped it onto her arm, instantly feeling the weight and power that having one of the machines granted. Her eyes traced the tiled floor upwards towards Alex who was now strapping his own disk onto his arm. The two knew what the other was feeling a growing amount of both excitement and nerves growing within them and so, in silence, both turned and walked out of the building into the blazing sunlight.

Nothing was said as the two walked side by side and towards the centre of Domino city. Alex fiddled with one of the many decks he carried around with him, whilst Rae buried both her hands in the pockets of her jeans and watched the floor as she walked. Just like the door bell before, the silence was broken by a ‘Ding Dong’ as they reached the city centre. Both figures looked upwards and towards the crowd of duellists that had gathered to join in this momentous event. From a balcony that overlooked the growing rabble, a man appeared and held his hands upwards for quiet; the crowd giving in instantly and hushing the noise.

“Welcome duelists! You are here to take part in one of the most prestigious tournaments in the world of Duel Monster; The Battle City!”

With the mention of the tournaments name, the crowd erupted into cheers, Alex lifting his arms and waving them high above his head, almost as if he wanted to be noticed, but Rae stayed silent and kept her attention focused on the individual on the balcony.

“As is tradition, you have all been granted two locator cards that will be used to find the final of this competition. During each duel you participate in, Battle City rules state that you have to put up one locator and your rarest card in your deck for the winner. Once you acquire seven locator cards you will be able to combine them and find the position of the final location. You have just two hours to spread yourselves out before the starting claxon, so, get going…”

When the mans speech stopped, the crowd began to raise the noise level again and several darted from the group, towards the prime locations of the city, ready to pick off the weaker competitors when the competition started. Rae turned to Alex and gave a small smile.

“Ok Alex, this is it” She said softly “We’ll see each other in the final, yeah?”

The boy gave a nod and lifted both his hands upwards to brush away the hair that had fallen across his face during the crowds excitement. His lips moved inwards so that his tongue could run over and lubricate them before he answered.
“Yeah Rae, the final”

With that the two teenagers turned from each other and walked in opposite directions. Rae finally opened the deck box and pulled out her cards, slotting them into the space provided in her duel disk, ready for the first challenge of the day. The girl had never liked participating in big tournaments like this, but this year she had a score to settle and it seemed that winning Battle City was the only way she would ever get a chance to do it. The girl stopped and leant herself backwards on a rickety wooden bench as she waited for time to pass and let her thoughts take over.

--------------------------------------------------------------

Rae was once again stirred from her thoughts as the air around her was pummelled with the sound of the great siren that signalled that the tournament had started. The girl took in a deep breath and moved her hands backwards, pushing her body back to a standing position only to come face to face with a middle aged man already with his duel disk out and spare hand ready to draw. It took Rae a few seconds to realise that he was one of those that had left the crowd early to gain the advantage, a advantage he thought he had by selecting Rae as his first opponent. With a smirk, the crimson haired girl stepped forward and lifted her arm upwards, the disk that had been folded away opening up and locking into place.

“You’re mine little girl! Draw!” The man screamed as he pulled six cards from his deck and instantly placed one of them on his disk, the image of a robotic tiger with wings shimmering into the space between the two duellists.

“V Tiger jet in attack mode! Your move”

Rae Nodded and from her deck, slowly drew a card, studying it along with the starting five that she already held since the duel began. Her eyes did as they were used to and flashed from one card to the other, eventually stopping on one. Looking towards her opponent, Rae pulled the card from her grip and placed it on the field.

“Ok, you chose the wrong girl to start with mister. To start my turn, I’ll play a spell card called Divinity! This allows me to add one Virtuous Warrior monster from my deck, to my hand!” As she finished speaking, Rae held her hand towards the deck that was slotted in the duel disk and pulled out a card, holding it forward so that her opponent could see the monster.

“And I’ll chose the Virtuous Warrior - Righteousness! And I think I’ll summon him, so come forth Righteousness!”

As she placed the card down on the duel disk, the air directly in front of the red head began to shimmer and form into the sight of her monster. The monster was covered in shining silver armour, decorated with several layers of sea blue material. Upon his back sat a giant katana like weapon, obscured by short silver hair. The monster turned towards his master as she gave the order to attack and with swift and deadly proficiency, leapt forward, drawing the blade from its sheath and slashing downwards towards the mechanical tiger, shattering it in the process.
The man winced as his life points began to fall, stopping at three thousand, five hundred (2100/1600=500). Rae flicked a portion of her hair across her shoulders before setting a card on the field.

“If you don’t give up yet, I’ll play one card facedown and end my turn”

The man, who was now fuming at the sudden loss of his life points drew his card without a word and then picked one from his hand, playing it on the field.

“I play, Lightening Vortex! Which will destroy your monster!”

The female watched as the sky above the duel began to darken and bolts of lightening began to rain down upon her side of the field. As a bolt hit the warrior, he vanished in a light show of shattered pieces. Rae looked downwards and towards the card that was left on her field, ready for whatever the bully was going to throw at her. With a giggle, the man played another monster, another machine appearing on the field, dressed in that of a old time officer of an army.

“Witness my Robotic Knight! Who will attack you directly!”

Just as he had said, the machine lifted an arm, the gun that seemed to be attached began to whirl, releasing a hail of shots towards Rae who stumbled backwards from the attack and her life points doing the same, switching down too Two thousand, four hundred (1600 - 4000). The girl quickly composed herself, drawing when the man motioned that it was her move. With the card she drew, Rae gave a grin and placed it on the field.

“Another spell, this time it is one called Holy Virtue - Kindness! All I have to do is send my monster to the graveyard and I can draw one card” The drawn card was placed in her hand for later before flipping over the facedown card on the field. “Ok, now I’ll activate my facedown! Honour Unto Death! Which brings back the my Righteousness! And then I’ll summon my Virtuous Warrior - Loyalty!”

The field began to shimmer once more as the silver clad swordsman returned as well as the new monster who was also clad in silver, holding a wicked looking electric blue sword. The Virtue cards were the very life of Rae’s deck and they would be the monsters that would bring her justice.

“My Loyalty give all other Virtuous Warrior monsters on the field and extra three hundred attack points, raising my Righteousness too an impressive two thousand, four hundred points! And as an added bonus, no other Virtuous Warrior monsters can be attacked whilst Loyalty is on the field”

The mans face seemed to lose colour as he watched the two monsters before him, his Robotic Knight seeming a little underwhelming compared to them. Rae narrowed her eyes and directed a hand towards the machine that was stopping her direct assault on the man who had challenged her. She was not going to show mercy; Rae was in this tournament to win.

“Go! Righteousness, attack his Robotic Knight and then, Loyalty, attack his life points directly!”

The two monster moved forward, the orange assassin overpowering the Knight by eight hundred (2400 - 1600 = 800)points and then the bone clad warrior, taking away a extra one thousand, eight hundred points (1800), leaving the man with just nine hundred life points (900). With a slight look of fear in the mans eyes, he drew his card and then sighed; he couldn’t play any cards.

“Your move” He said solemnly, knowing that the end was near.

Rae nodded and drew her card, motioning for her warrior of loyalty to attack the opponent directly, which he did without question. As the dust settled and the monsters vanished from play, the crimson haired girl stepped forward and held out her hand.

“I only want the locator card, so hand it over”

A little stunned that this girl didn’t want the rare card of his deck, the man shuffled around his his pocket and pulled out a clear piece of plastic and placed it in his victors palm.

“Three down… Four more to go”

Turning to walk away, the girl tightened the grip around the locator and looked towards the sky

I’m coming for you…
Alex walked with his head turned to the ground, his hands gripping the deck box which sat at his hip. The boys thoughts were beginning to twist and turn as he thought about Rae and why she had entered this tournament and about what she would do if she managed to reach the final. Alex knew that Rae was going to lose her composure, he could tell that she was letting all rational actions go during the walk towards the city centre, she had never been so quiet. The boy was brought from his mind when a gong sounded across the city, signalling that the tournament had started along with Alex’s own personal goal of victory. Narrowing his eyes, the chocolate haired boy picked up his pace and set out to find his first opponent and the third locator card that was needed for victory.
It wasn’t long before Alex had found a lone man, flicking through his cards and raising his arm upwards, pointing towards the man, Alex spoke.
“You! You’re a duellist and I’m guessing you’re in the Battle city; so I challenge you!”
The teenager was greeted with the man silently nodding and stepping forward, lifting his arm upwards, in front of his chest. The arm began to darken as a shadow began to seep from under the mans sleeves. Slowly the darkness began to take the form of a duel disk, causing Alex to take a step backwards in surprise and fear. Before the boy could turn to flee, he felt his own arm rising of its own accord, the disk strapped to it unfolding, locking him into a duel. Alex forced his resolve and nodded, he tried to convince himself that what he saw wasn’t real, that this man was using a trick to throw his opponents off their game and that is how he would win. Placing the middle fingers of his right hand on his deck, the teen drew six cards, signalling that he would start.
“Ok freak! I’ll start this by drawing the five starting cards of my hands and then the sixth card for the beginning of my turn” Alex said, trying to keep the obvious fear in his voice from being to noticeable.
“Excellent, and when I defeat you, I can find her because you will tell me” The man said, his voice deep and rough. The mysterious duellist stepped forward and out of the shadow that was hiding his form, revealing himself to not be that much older than Alex. The mans body was covered in a dark robe, trimmed with red around the cloaks hem and a long hood hanging to mid back. His dark hair hung over his face, revealing only the eyes that had no color, they were pure white giving him a ethereal appearance.

Alex looked down at the cards in his hand and picked one from the six. His eyes shifted towards his opponent “Who am I going to give up? And why would I want to tell someone who looks as wrong as you” He knew that whatever this man wanted, it couldn’t be good. Placing the card he drew, Alex smiled “And I’ll start off by Summoning my monster, Elven Swordsman (1300/0)” A blonde haired man clad in green either appeared on the field in front of Alex. “Then I’ll place one card face down” A facedown card began to materialise on the field behind the teens monster.
“Rae Amara, you will tell me where I can find Rae Amara” The man drew his sixth card and grinned, as he played his first monster. “This, is the reason you will tell me! I’ll bring forth The Demonic Beast!” A great shadow began to cover the mans side of the field, shrouding the creature in darkness. “With my Demonic monsters, they do not reveal themselves until death is near and so, he will remain in face up attack position, but face down”
Alex gritted his teeth, he had never seen any monster like this. As his eyes stared at the shroud, he could feel fear growing inside him, like the darkness was piercing his very soul. The shadow duellist ended his turn with a facedown and motioned Alex that it was his move. The teenager drew his card slowly and placed it on the field almost instantly. “Ok! I’m not afraid of whatever you’re hiding! I’ll summon my Elven Spirit Bond!(100/0) And now I select your Demonic Beast with Spirit Bond’s effect, meaning that if my monster would be destroyed, yours is destroyed in its place” Feeling a little more confident, Alex pulled another card from his hand and flicked open the slot in the duel disks side. “Now, I’ll activate my Elven Sanctuary field spell! This little beauty increases all elven monsters by two hundred Attack and allows Elven cards to attack you directly!” With a motion of his hand the Elven Swordsman leapt forward and slashed downwards, cutting through the shadow duellist. “Unfortunately, any damage done using my fields effect becomes five hundred, so add up the damage Spirit Bond!” The second elf moved forward, vanishing before reappearing before the man, bringing the wooden staff in its hand across the mans gut (Shadow Duelist - 3000Lp). “You don’t scare me! Your move!”

“I know I frighten you, I can see it in your eyes. The very fear that is resonating from your soul is feeding my victory. Now I can reveal my monster!” As the man flipped the beast flames began to rise from the ground, breaking the shadow and showing Alex for the first time, what the beast was. Rising up, a three headed beast began to stare down at Alex, its jaws clenched and dripping with blood red ooze. A chuckle came from the beasts controller as the monster opened its jaws and fired a blast of scorching flames towards the Elven Swordsman. In a burst of fire, the elf faded from the field, leaving Alex with his life points damaged (Alex=3500). Just as quickly as it had appeared, the Demonic Beast vanished back into its shadow. “You see, my beast is an amazing card, forger from the darkness that has plagued Duel monsters for over a millennia. Whenever it attacks, its own attack points raise and stop five hundred points higher than the monster it is attacking, meaning that whatever you do, whatever pathetic monster you bring to the field, I will always be able to defeat it! Now, It is your turn” Alex silently drew his card and then ordered his one remaining monster to attack. With the order, the Spirit Bond charged forward and swung towards the darkness. To his surprise, the shroud parted and let the elf hit the opponent directly (Shadow Duellist=1800). The teenager looked on as the darkness formed back “What!?” Alex screamed, he needed to rid the field of the monster, he knew it would case problems.
“Well, you see child. The Demonic forces can not be destroyed and I would gladly give my life to have them survive and spread their corruption. My monsters can not be destroyed by battle and if your turn is over, I am about to win” Alex gritted his teeth and nodded, watching as the shadow duellist drew his card. As he played another card, the darkness began to grow, hiding the man from view. “I summon my Demonic Force in attack mode, and then activate Sacrificial Darkness!” Alex watched as the shadow reached outwards and smothered his one remaining monster within it before retreating back and revealing the opponents field. Standing opposite him was the Demonic Beast, a warrior covered in pitch black armour and what seemed to be his own elf, corrupted with shadow. “Your monster will finish you off boy. Go monsters! Attack directly!” With a sudden blow, Alex was sent sprawling to the ground, his deck escaping from the holder it has been placed and flying across the ground. With a haze in his eyes, the teenager watched as the man approached and reached outwards, planting a hand upon the teens head. Without warning, Alex began to cry out in pain, as if the very thoughts of his mind were being removed with force. When the pain stopped, Alex dropped to the ground exhausted, the shadow duellist nowhere to be seen.

“So you’re here Rae, just as he said you would be. Your deck will be my deck”
