Kazuya then pulled out a Duel Disk from inside his coat and attached it to his arm, pulling out a deck from his pocket placing it into the duel disk and drawing 5 cards from the top almost without thinking about his moves having been used to it from his duels, "I'll go first" he says as he draws another card playing 1 Face Down Spell or Trap Card and Summoning a monster in Face Down Defense Position. "well I guess ill start easy with this one.. your turn" Kazuya says as he watches Daemon through the darkness seeing him easily having been used to the low amount of light from absorbus for a few years which allows him to be able to see in it unlike most.

Kazuya watched as Daemon summoned Hechicho laughing slightly as he drew his next card and then played allure of Darkness, drawing 2 cards from his Deck then Removing from play Cyber Ouroboros and activating its effect, sending Dark Hunter from his hand to the Graveyard and drawing another card, "ok now i guess it's time to start attacking, after all i don't want you to be bored" he says calmly as he discarded Dark horus for Dark Grepher's effect Special Summoning it then discard the other Cyber Ouroboros in his hand to send an Armageddon Knight from his Deck to the Graveyard. "now Dark Grepher, destroy his monster" Kazuya says then waiting to see if Daemon activated anything before Kazuya ends his turn.

Daemon assumed from the silent shadow that Kazuya had ended his turn, so drew his next card. 'I play my Field Spell Haunted House'

The area around the duelists transformed as the hologram of a rickety old house replaced the backdrop of the ship. The wind grew colder. 'This Spell allows me to bump up the ATK of Diablos monsters in my hand at a cost of my Life Points.' Daemon grimaced as he activated the spell's effect (LP: 3100) 'Now I summon Diablos Barbero with a boosted ATK'.

Barbero swung at the weakened Grepher, destroying him. 'Now because I destroyed Grepher, Barbero's ability activates. Now you can't Special Summon monsters this turn. Wish you hadn't got rid of your hand now huh? Make your move'.

Kazuya draws in silence as Daemon ended his turn then playing Mystic Plasma Zone, the Hologram of the house disappearing as it is replaced by dark clouds over the duel with lightning striking at random spots of the field. "now I'll have to get rid of him then" he says as he places Armageddon Knight on the Duel disk, its attack at 1600, "now, Destroy" he says only just loud enough to be heard as he attacks with armageddon Knight waiting to see if Daemon would use a trap again against this attack. "i just need one more" Kazuya mutters to himself while he watches the field

'Activate trap card, Mark of the Diablos'. Just before Kazuya's monster reached Barbero, Daemon discarded Diablos Maligno from his hand. A giant skull appeared in front of Barbero and plunged into the attacking Armageddon Kinght, forcing it back.

Barbero's axe crashed into the stricken monster. 'Once again, Barbero's ability prevents any Special Summoning for 1 turn. That'll do for now.'

Kazuya watched silently as Armageddon Knight was destroyed his life Points being decreased by 200, "well I guess you still haven't noticed that I have been trying to fill my Grave with Dark monsters yet have you?" he says his voice only just able to be heard as he then activates his Face Down Trap, "and now it's time to stop your Attacks, after all i dont want to lose too many of the weaker ones" he says as Lost in the Room of Darkness activates, the darkness caused by absorbus moving closer to Daemons side of the Arena as it steps a couple steps away from Kazuya while he stood there waiting to see if Daemon did anything in response.

The dark shadow extended across the duel arena towards Daemon. The prince watched with an grimace on his face that turned his good looks into an ugly mask. [i]'What is this guy playing at with this darkness thing?[/i]' he thought. [i]Anyway back to the duel. He may have lots of Dark monsters in his Graveyard, but as long Barbero keeps destroying monsters, he can't use them for a Special Summon. Can't do it with that Trap card out though. And he still has that face-down monster...[/i]

The boat rocked slightly as the wind and the waves began to pick up. Daemon stood in silence thinking through his options.

[Blood Yuchi]

Blood was roused from his sleep as his cards were reacting to the dark pressence that is growing stronger. [i]Man for all times to choose, don't they know that sleeping is important for their health[/i]. Blood got off his bed, still half awake in his clothings that he wore since morning. He was trudging towards the door, unwilling care a single bit about anything. When Blood grab on to the door knob he recieved a vibe throughout his body which totally shoke him awake. He quickly open the door and left the cabin. He headed for the deck as he knew the vibe wasn't any sea motion sickness, but a duel was happening on board the ship.

Absorbus takes a few more steps covering the whole of the monster card zone with it's Dark Aura as Kazuya draws a card smirking slightly. "now i think it's time to stop playing with you" he says as he Summons Ape Magician in face up Attack Position. "Now to see if my best cards are even close to the top yet, Morphing Jar!" he announce as he flips his morphing Jar face-up Discarding a Veil of Darkness and drawing 5 cards. then activating a Spell card that he drew among them quickly. "now for a Sacrifice that will end this" he says softly his voice now only just being heard as he activates Sacrifice to Strength, the top 5 cards of his deck going to the Graveyard.

"Now due to this card's effect my Ape Magician's ATK is raised to the same as that of your monster and any effect it has is negated when my Equipped Ape Magician Battle with it, and since I want to see if any others have woken in our duel I'll end it now, Attack" he says his voice still only just being heard again as his Ape Magician attack and as Daemon had no Spell or Trap cards that he could activate in response to this Ape Magician and Daemon's monsters are both destroyed, Kazuya losing 700 Life points due to having morphing Jar on the Field when Sacrifice to Strength final effect was activated as he Removed it from Play. "now for the finish" he says as he Removes from Play the 7 DARK monsters in his Graveyard, throwing Daemon's across the arena to then so it would land on the side of their Duel Disk while Kazuya plays Rainbow Dark Dragon from his hand, again since Daemon had no cards to counter it Kazuya continued with this move. "now finish this Dark Rainbow Refraction" Kazuya says his voice raised to almost a normal level of volume as it depletes Daemon's Life Points in a single Attack while Kazuya removes the cards from the Duel disk the Darkness of absorbus staying there.

Kazuya then removed the Duel disk placing the cards from it back into the deck and placing it inside a pocket in his cloak while he packs his duel disk away the darkness disappears as Kazuya removes absrobus from his Duel Coat and places it back in the secret pocket of his cloak. Kazuya then raised his hood back over his head fully covering his whole face in the shadow it made as he turns and starts to walk away. "good, but not yet able to identify what chances I had, having not even noticed how i wanted DARK monsters in my Graveyard and not ntociing hwo you ;left yourself open, if I had however been playing with anything other than one of my own Decks I think you may have been able to win that one though" Kazuya says as he stops for a second. "your final grade for this duel is a high achievement.. welcome to the avatar blacks" he says the last bit only just being able to be heard, with no emotion on it as if he had said it automatically then walking off along the hallway back to the front of the ship sitting against the wall as he had while the ship traveled from the academy.

Daemon sank to one knee as the power of Dark Rainbow Dragon's Refraction attack blasted through him, reducing him to 0 Life Points. The darkness surrounding the field lifted, making Kazuya visible for the first time since the duel began. He removed his duel disk and walked away without feeling, pausing briefly to tell Daemon that although he had made mistakes, he had done enough and he was accepted into Avatar Black, the highest rank at the Academy. He then walked into the night and disappeared from sight.

Daemon staggered to his feet, clutching his side and he tried to restore his breathing. He was stunned how quickly Kazuya had turned a fairly even duel into a devasting victory with just a few cards. There was little in doubt as to why someone so young had become a teacher. The prince trudged across the duel arena to were his 'Diablos Hechicero' card lay after it had been removed from Kazuya's graveyard. He looked at it in ugly disgust, then shuffled it back into his deck. He also reunited the card he had hidden inside his glove with the rest of his cards and pocketed it.

Daemon turned back to go to his cabin before something caught his eye. On one of the upper balcony's, a boy with bright red hair could just be seen looking out across the Duel Area. Daemon stared at him, but could not make out anything more, so went back to his cabin, frustrated with his loss, but knowing he had gained more from it than lost.

[i]Kazuya has power beyond normal duelists, a mastery over his cards not unlike my own, but long since perfected. I wonder how many others aboard this ship share a gift like ours...[/i]

[Blood Yuchi]

Blood saw the duel till the end, it was harsh duel for the dark skin guy who seem to have the upperhand in the first place. He noticed that his cards aren't reacting anymore, probably because the person holding on to the dark pressence notice that Blood was nearby. Currently on the list, the dark skin guy who just went back into his cabin might know who that mysterious guy could be. But the one with the heavier suspect would the one in hood who had just won the duel.

Blood felt that right now wasn't the good time to confront any of them and so return back to his cabin to rest like evryone else on the ship.

Kazuya watched the edge of the boat while it moved through the water, pulling out one of his cards that he had when he was younger that he still had with him, a Skull archfiend of Lightning, not yet placed in any of his decks as he places it on his duel coat, it appearing in front of him with Lightning shooting down from the sky into the water around the ship, the lightning not spreading at all through the water but moving straight down through it. Kazuya watched the skull archfiend the connection he had with the cards he has had since he was younger being this one and his Ninja of Elements cards being so strong that he didn't need to speak his commands as he told it to 'stand guard' it using its wings to fly up slightly floating above him as a large semicircle of the lightning was made, blocking out entrance from the edge of the ship and the various hallways leading to that small part of the ship the lightning only just able to be seen if anyone got close to it due to how thin it was, made to only stun those that would attempt to pass it. Kazuya then nodded his head slightly as he fell asleep waiting for the daylight in which he would have to bring out absorbus to keep him sane.

It was midday aboard the ship as Daemon sat in his cabin, going over his cards for the umpteenth time. He practising a couple of different combinations until he was satisfied, then pocketed the deck, but on his coat and went outside.

Daemon wandered up to the balcony over-looking the duel arena where he had battled Kazuya last night. The duel tests for the other students would begin shortly, the Duel Academy reps were out and ready in the sunlight, although no students appeared to have arrived yet. Already confirmed as an Avatar Black, Daemon would use this opportunity to gain knowledge about the other students and their Decks. He pulled up a Deck-chair underneath a large shade, took a drink out of his own hip-flask, then sat and waited for [b]some action[/b].

Kazuya opened his eyes as the light hit his eyes, summoning absorbus before he noticed that his Skull Archfiend of Lightning was still out floating above him and looking down at him it's electrical shield around the part of the deck Kazuya sat on disappeared, as it then covers its body while it moves down into the darkness created by absorbus. "[i]hm.. it's about midday[/i]" he thought to himself as he judged the time on where the light was coming from "[i]I wonder if any of the students are dueling now[/i]" he thinks to himself as he stands, absorbus and Skull Archfiend of Lightning following him closely as he moves down the hallway the the duel arena, the Darkness absorbus made giving away that he was coming out before he reached the end as the darkness covered the ground near the hallway while he walked to the edge to look, a slight zapping sound heard as Skull Archfiend of Lightning was playing with the lightning on its body sending some onto absorbus who was looking back at it, Kazuya then glanced back at Skull Archfiend who immediately stopped and returned to his card just before it was removed from the duel coat, hidden in a pocket inside his cloak as Kazuya and absorbus step out into the dueling arena a large ball of darkness would be all that most others would see as they moved through to a chair a short distance away from daemon both sitting down and waiting for something to happen, having noticed the dueal academy representatives on the boat immediately when they stepped in choosing to ignore them. Kazuya then watches daemon, remembering that he was the one he dueled last night.

The large ball of darkness approached and settled itself across two chairs a short distance away. Daemon recognised it as the same ball of darkness from the night before, that the teacher Kazuya enshrouded himself in. It was quite an odd sight to see this black mass in the middle of the balcony. Still, the professor must have his reasons for it, but how he was sustaining the darkness was a mystery. The one thing that he found slightly preturbing was it was impossible to tell where the guy might be looking or indeed gauge anything about his mood unless he spoke. Daemon was still slightly rankled by his defeat, but knew he had lost to a powerful duelist who most would struggle to compete against. 'Professor' he muttered shortly, simply acknowledging Kazuya's presence.

Standing at the entrance of the hallway, Blood was holding onto his deck which he had prepared for this very day. In front of him was the Duel Arena where his exam would be taking place. Whichever dorm he would be posted to doesn't matter much to him, as he just wanted to test what capabilities his Deck holds for him. Blood went to find a shade and sat under it, waiting for his call to take his test.

Louise was awake early that morning - an annoying recurring dream, coupled with the moving of the boat (she only ever seemed to have sea-legs when her head at least was upright) had conspired to disturb her sleep - but the cabin was comfortable, so it was a while before she emerged, heading to the duel arena where she was supposed to have her entrance duel. She was pretty sure she'd done well on the written test, and since she was already on the boat they weren't likely to send her home, but she wasn't planning to take this duel very easily. Besides, she mused, sitting down, doing badly would just cause her parents to pile on more pressure.

Jake awoke from his nap still pumped. "Hm this Boat Ride is a bit long...I'm starting to get a bit suspicious." Jake walked around looking for anyone ready to Duel. "I have a hunch that guy ought to know." Jake looked upon a boy walking toward him (NPC) "Hey dude where are you going?" "Oh I'm going to the Duel Exams." "SAY WHAT? man I already took a test...wait Duel Exam?" "Yeah They are going to test your dueling ability." "[i]hm how promising.[/i] OK see you later!" 5 Minutes later Jake walked into the Duel Arena. "HELLO EVERYBODY I hear there's another test I'm SOOO HAPPY.

Kazuya heard Daemon mutter professor to acknowledge his presence about to reply as he noticed another to be student with red hair walk through and sitting in the shade. Kazuya then looked at Daemon, "you did well considering that your s till in your first year.." he said only just loud enough to be heard as he places a card on his duel coat from a pocket in his coat, a small visible string of lightning shooting from the clouds into the darkness only there for a second, Skull Archfiend of Lightning floating above Kazuya only just low enough for the darkness to hide him. Kazuya then notices a few minutes later as two other to be duelists enter the room, a very small zap only just enough to tickle hitting the young boys with red hair's arm as a Teacher with light brown hair walked over near the darkness Skull archfiend of Lightning hiding close to the wall as Kazuya glared at him having seen the small zap being sent. as the teacher walks into the darkness apparently surprised by how dark it was jumping out within a second before entering again to talk to Kazuya. Kazuya looked over the room as the teacher stepped into the darkness seeing all the people in there then turning to the teacher "her" he said able to be heard by most in the room as he talked louder than the usual softness of his voice, pointing to a name on a nearby clipboard then sitting back relaxed while the teacher walked back out calling Louise's name. The teacher then pulled out a duel disk with bronze on edges of it pulling out his deck as he placed the Duel Disk on his arm.

"I'm first then? Oh good, I don't like having to wait around." Louise stood up again, fitting her duel disk onto her arm. [i]Why is someone hiding in the shadows over there deciding?[/i] she wondered, [i]Isn't it up to the teacher.[/i] She put the thoughts out of her mind and moved to the opposite end of the arena to the teacher, before taking her deck out of it's box and shuffling it. Louise didn't recognise this teacher, and if he had been around at the written exam or something she didn't remember him. "Not to be rude, but who are you?" she asked, "and how does this work exactly?"

The teacher looked over at Louise as she shuffled her deck, "my name is David, a teacher in the Eraser Bronze Dorm.. shouldn't you already know how to duel if you're going to duel academy? surely someone should have taught you..?" he says as he draws five cards. "Dueling is actually pretty simple first place your Deck in the Deck Zone of your duel disk and draw five cards, I'll go first" he says calmly drawing another card. "after you draw you go to your standby phase some effects activated there but you don't really have to worry about it yet, now you enter the main phase where you can set trap or spell cards, activate spell cards or summon a monster". David then Summoned Quantity in Attack Position then activating Double Summon "now I'll activate Double Summon allowing me to normal Summon an extra monster from my hand". David then Summoned another Quantity, "now normal summons can only be Level four or lower and your only allowed one per turn unless you use a card like Double Summon, your turn" he says as he glances back at the large ball of shadow slightly noticing that it wasn't moving as he looked back towards Louise. "[i]now it's time to show him that I could be just as good as him[/i]" he thinks to himself about Kazuya.

[Sweetie Belle]

Love woke up in a start, lying on her cabin bed. She had fallen asleep after painting her mural. She sat up and stared at it for a full ten minutes. After breaking herself out of her trance, she noticed that the ship seemed... calmer. A lot calmer. As if it wasn't moving. And, she couldn't hear a single person. There seemed to be no activity on the ship at all. Or at least in her hearing range. She looked at the clock and noticed the time.
"Oh, crap, I'm late! God, I hope they haven't started my exam yet..." She quickly took several pictures of the mural, grabbed a few of her things, and stumbled out of her room to the arena, while she sprinted to the placement exams.

...A little later...

Love burst into the exam room in a fluster. "I'm here!" She called out, breathing heavily.

Kazuya watched as David summoned two Quantities both in Attack Position, laughing to himself slightly as he watches. "so even after i beat him while he used that deck he kept it?" he mutters to himself not able to be heard by all but David who was the closes to the Ball of Shadow. Kazuya then looked up at Skull Archfiend of Lightning, "go wake the others up... gently" he says to it through the bond he had with the card, saying the last part just before Skull archfiend left moving in a very thin stream of Lightning to the top Deck. Skull Archfiend looked in the rooms to try to find any of the young students still not awake to give them a slight shock of lightning just enough to wake them up not enough to cause them to feel pain from it though.

"I know how to duel," Louise replied sharply, "I just wanted to know how the examination side of it works. You could at least have the decency not to tell me about the stuff I've just done, right now, in front of you." [i]Are all the teaches in this school this dense? I sure hope not.[/i] "My move then," she continued, drawing one more card. "To start, I'll discard Dandylion from my hand to Special Summon Quickdraw Synchron." A small robotic figure, dressed like someone from a western appeared, along with two Dandelion seeds. "By sending Dandylion to the graveyard, I also get these little guys, which can get a boost from my Quickdraw Synchron. The robot vanished in five stars, which traced green rings around the two seeds, before the vanished in a blast of light. "I synchro summon Nitro Warrior." A large green figure, with a insect-like abdomen, emerged from the light (ATK 2800). "Nitro Warrior, take down that Quantity on the left," she called, flames jetting from the rear of her monster as it's rushed at the small machine.

"Since I didn't normal summon this turn, I'll set a monster now, along with one face-down, and end my turn." The backs of two more cards emerged onto the field.
