Mr.Robot
Yeah I just listened to a couple of the newer Saosin songs, they're alright, and I do agree that they did get a little more radio-rock friendly, but still not bad and definitely better than almost any other radio-friendly band out there. There's more that contributed their kind of "meh" sound than just their vocalist.Yup, won't really blame Cove since half of the founding members are still in the band and their newer material pale in comparison to Translating The Name. Oh yeah, do hit up Secret and Whispers since they pretty much are the radio-friendly rock version of Saosin done right while still remain in the post hardcore genre. Susie
Alright, I really like Wolves In the Throne Room. I just ordered all four of their albums. I've only ever listened to Two Hunters, I had a feeling that you'd really like Wolves, thry're not my favorite when it comes down to atmospheric stuff, but they're not bad, the one you posted and this one are probably my faves from the album
Dismal Euphony
Alright, I really like Wolves In the Throne Room. I just ordered all four of their albums. Yessssss. Wolves in the Throne Room is easily in my top 3 favorite bands. Everyone lists Two Hunters as their best, but I find myself enjoying Black Cascade and Diadem of 12 Stars much more... Though, A Looming Resonance is strangely my favorite song from them, which is on the Malevolent Grain EP. The general rating for that EP was... less than stellar... Never really understood why WITTR fans sheet on it so much.

Though I had to shell out some decent bucks for a hard copy of Diadem of 12 Stars...

Though I had to shell out some decent bucks for a hard copy of Diadem of 12 Stars... It's definitely worth it. "Queen of the Borrowed Light", the opening track on Diadem, is arguably my favorite atmospheric/Cascadian black metal song ever. It's everything I look for in the genre, to be honest. Looking forward to it. It looks like the atmospheric USBM is the stuff I like the most in the genre, but even then I only have Wolves, In the Throne Room, Deafheaven and Agalloch. A friend said I should check out the latest Frigoris album, so I might look into them next.

A friend said I should check out the latest Frigoris album, so I might look into them next. Skagos isn't from the US, but they're North American and quite similar to Agalloch and WITTR. They get lumped in the Cascadian metal category. I suggest you check them out. Another band worth noting, if you're not already familiar with, is Panopticon. They did a split with Skagos which was phenomenal. Some of their earlier stuff is a more aggressive tinge of atmospheric black metal, but their album Social Disservices is quite astounding from start to finish. It's quite an angry album, but there's a load of atmosphere to kind of balance out the aggression. Their most recent full-length, Kentucky, is extremely interesting as well. It mixes bluegrass with atmospheric black metal. It makes for a fresh sound that's definitely worth checking out. Their latest offering was a split with Vestiges which I thought was top-notch as well, even though I'm not huge on Vestiges. Some other bands to look into sometime if you're into WITTR and such are Wedrujacy Wiatr, White Oak, Alda, Woman is the Earth, and Falls of Rauros. Out of these, I'd make Wedrujacy Wiatr the priority. They're a Polish band that are similar to the atmospheric USBM wave. They only have one release out currently, but dear lord it's incredible. As for Frigoris, they're currently sitting in a pile of material that I still have to listen to...

Dismal Euphony
1 - Deicide;2 - Behemoth;3 - Immortal;4 - Graveworm;5 - Aeon. I'm not sure what this has to do with the topic on hand, but I'm guessing they're your top 5 bands? Deicide: always found these guys pretty bland and unenjoyable; however, they did help pioneer the death metal genre, so I have some level of respect for them. Behemoth: I used to absolutely love Behemoth, but now I only really listen to Sventevith, Grom, and Zos Kia Cultus. The rest tends to bore me after a few tracks. Immortal: Another band that generally bores me, but a few of their releases are mandatory to listen to at least once, considering they are one of the pioneers of the Norwegian black metal movement. Graveworm: Scourge of Malice is a symphonic metal masterpiece, but sadly everything else has either been mediocre or bad. Aeon: Two bands named Aeon come to mind, so I don't really know which one to comment on. Panopticon did a split with Skagos? Damn I need to get on that sometime. Indeed they did! And I can honestly say it might be the best split I've ever heard. Skagos did two tracks and Panopticon did three, and they're some of the best tracks released from each respective artist. I've had the demo floating around my files for probably about two or three months, but I just got around to listening to them a few nights ago. While I wasn't blown away by it (a little generic, but that never killed anyone), it's definitely some good stuff. Their name cracks me up, though. Thanks for keeping the list pretty concise haha, usually your lists of recommendations are more than I can handle! I'm not sure what this has to do with the topic on hand, but I'm guessing they're your top 5 bands? Probably read the first page when I asked people to list their top 5 metal bands. I might go back and edit that post.

Thanks for keeping the list pretty concise haha, usually your lists of recommendations are more than I can handle! I'd definitely have Skagos and Panopticon at the top of the list—perhaps grab the split they did together. You'll get a good idea of what they sound like in their prime, all on one release. :P Yeah, I've been told that before so I try to keep my lists somewhere between 2 - 6 bands these days. I just get so enthusiastic sometimes because there's so much great music out there, hahah. But, yeah, I would definitely try to get a hold of that Skagos/Panopticon split. I know for a fact the physical copies have been sold out for a while now, but I'm sure it's on YouTube if you want to give it a listen.

I noticed them starting to go downhill with Tides and Mammal... Truly a shame because White Tomb is one of the best post-black metal releases ever, in my opinion.
