Oh.

Please pardon my dickery. I didn't really think you were being serious haha. I really like these guys though, thought there would be more love from my fellow hardcore/metal bros.

I wont lie, Deafheaven are even starting to grow onto me a bit, they're alright, but my main picks for BM will always be DSBM bands.

I don't really like traditional black metal stuff. I like my black metal to have some weird quirk.

Traditional Black Metal is good, but never my main preference, as I mentioned before, DSBM is my personal favorite and it's actually what got me into Blck Metal. The only Atmospheric BM band that I can actually say I really like would be Altar of Plagues. As for Blackgaze, I've been trying to get into it, but it seems a bit tough for me to get into, the stuff's alright but I'm not crazy for it. If you like a band with weird quirks in it, then the best recommendation I can give would be Lifelover.

What is different about DSBM?

The songs tend to be about depression and stuff like that (Hence why it's called Depressive Suicidal Black Metal), and the vocals sound more emotional or "whinny" depending on how your hearing interprets it also some bands will occassionally use clean vocals. I'm not too sure if you'd like DSBM or not, it's a 50/50 shot I guess.

Any musical differences or pretty much what you'd expect?

Also the new Rosetta album goes up for download at any moment, only 200 free downloads available.

There's not much to DSBM, basically summed up, it's Black Metal that tries to make you feel depressed

I see haha. Maybe that's why I like Deafheaven, they do the opposite. I'll check out Lifelover though.

Jump on it brah. Have you listened to any of their albums?

Lifelover's a band you'll either lover or hate, they mix DSBM with Post-Punk, Pop, and hundreds of other genres. You should probably try giving them a couple of listens, they might need to grow onto you.

I would jum on it, if I knew where they were posting the album, also I own A Determinism Of Morality and Wake/Lift, both albums are beyond epic, though out of the two I liked the Wake/Lift-EP more. I still need to check out The Gallilean Satellites.

If you want a good example of DSBM, I suggest you go for Austere or Woods of Desolation first. They seem to have the most success when I'm introducing new people to DSBM.

Good choices, I don't know why I didn't think of them first

I went on a Neurosis binge a while ago and now I've decided that The Word As Law would be my favorite Neurosis album with Souls At Zero in second, followed by Through Silver In Blood then The Eye of Every Storm.

Haven't listened to anything before Enemy of the Sun but Times of Grace is probably my favorite.

New Rosetta album is badass.
