New Saosin is great but definitely not my AOTY. Not really sure what'll get that honor but i don't really care lol, never did like picking a favorite album. 

 

Embodyment used to be straight-up death metal who knew

 

 

Well I did say that it might be, honestly this year is a tough one to decide on an AOTY simply because theres been so many new releases.

 

Yeah I heard that their older demos used to be Death Metal, never gave them a listen myself.

 

Going to listen to some more familiar stuff til I get new releases to listen to

The Dillinger Escape Plan is doing one last album and tour before breaking up. The new song they put up is killer and better than anything on the last album imo, pretty hyped. 

 

New album is called Dissociation. 

 

Fuuuuuuck TDEP are going. Ah well least it sounds like theyll be going out on a good banger if that track is any indication. Also no way is it better than anything off of One Of Us Is the Killer, that album was waaaaaaaay too good.

Dude you don't need to listen to my pics if you don't like them, me reading this feels like a similar insult..... this was once all metal thread and now this... you even brought my chemical romance??? to this thread >.>, if this insults you then now you know, i even begun myself to ask where are the true Metalheads here or am i the only one??????

I never felt insulted by anything you posted, no need to take it so personal, its not like I said anything against the bands or you as a person, neither have I done anything consistently towards you. MCRs debut was a full blown Hardcore album before they moved to a commercial Rock sound. This is a Metal/Hardcore thread, not just Metal thread bruh.

I never felt insulted by anything you posted, no need to take it so personal, its not like I said anything against the bands or you as a person, neither have I done anything consistently towards you. MCRs debut was a full blown Hardcore album before they moved to a commercial Rock sound. This is a Metal/Hardcore thread, not just Metal thread bruh.

Theres no reason to feel like that. YCM is not as active as it was years ago and this thread greatly suffered from that when most of the regulars who posted here went off to do other things in their lives and now the only remaining consistent members here are me, Coral, and to some extent you and Aeon/Forest Fire/Taken King/Whatever the funk his name will be in a few months time. Yes youre the odd one out in terms of taste but thats no need to feel like youre being an intruder, when you post a song or two nobody minds, nobody is offended, nobody acts like its the end of the world so stop being so bothered by it. Hell Aeon has some stuff that me and Coral arent the biggest fans of yet he doesnt get bothered by us stating that, especially considering that its not constant (Granted his taste aligns a bit more but that still doesnt change the fact that his attitude is genuinely better). Corals also expressed dislike towards things that im big into on semi-frequent occasions (Dance Gavin Dance, Protest the Hero, Entheos, Sonic Syndicate just to name a few). Nobody here has ever said that we dont want you around so you should have no reason to feel that youre intruding on anyone here.

Hey man, it's like Moog (Neera Li) said, you don't have to feel like an intruder. Everyone just posts things that they like, and not everyone is going to like everything that's posted. The thread has been geared towards both metal and hardcore for awhile now, just for the sake of variety. A lot of metal is still posted and talked about in the thread, in fact we've recently discussed new albums from Zealotry, Ghoulgotha, Chthe'ilist, Inverloch, Gorguts, Wormed, Ulcerate, Dark Tranquillity and Blood Incantation (not to mention stuff we've been jamming from previous years). I've noticed that you seem to be particularly geared towards old-school thrash/power metal a lot of times, which I can't say is my cup of tea. But hey, you can always take other's tastes into consideration and post things they might like as checking out the things they post. Not that I'm expecting you to dig My Chemical Romance or anything ;) But the point has always been to post and discuss all sorts of different artists that we each enjoy, and there is always a chance that others might not enjoy them. But that will never mean you're not welcome or that we're insulted by your taste or anything like that, please keep posting!

Eh the first two ETID records are my least favorites of theirs. I prefer ETID when they sound like ETID or a combination of both with their most recent stuff. Of course they do the old-school Metalcore vibe well but it also is completely interchangeable with actual old school Metalcore albums that do similar things but with more feeling in them. That Norma Jean single kills tho.

Just my preference for old-school metalcore showing haha. Of course I never listen to that album even since there are so many that I like way more. Agreed on Norma Jean, can't wait to get the new album. Never heard of Sianvar, what are they like?

 

Sianvar are a super group containing the lead singer of Hail the Sun with members of A Lot Like Birds, Stolas, and Dance Gavin Dance. The band does have a bit of similarity with the ones that the members are from but their debut album has more atmosphere and experimentation going on than in those bands. A friend of mine on last.fm cant stand DGD or any other bands like them but he thought that Sianvar self-titled EP was pretty good, dunno if hes gotten onto the full length yet but the full length is definitely less poppy than the EP is.

 

Drastic change but im currently on Shade Empire right now. First heard of them because a friend said they were similar to Sonic Syndicate (He only has listened to Eden Fire), and its a bit exaggerated but there are definitely a few similarities between this album and SSs debut. Except this album id say has a bit more variety in it and is mainly Melodic Black Metal instead of Melodeath.

Oh trust me I already know theyre one of your favorite bands ever hah. Still I love em too, specifically Brother Sister and Catch For Us the Foxes. Pale Horses, Ten Stories, and A-B Life are all great too. Never listened to Its All Crazy! though Ive heard that its pretty much their most Indie sounding album.

Yea It's All Crazy!... is way more of an indie/folk record with none of the post-hardcore but it's good for what it is.

I is probably one of Meshuggah's best.

Yeah im done with New Album, it really is good, Looprider though is a bit dragged out. I is a masterpiece, its definitely up there with Catch33 and ObZen as one of Meshuggahs best, the atmosphere, the constant changes, the massive length it all just funking wrecks my face off while numbing my mind with its technical wizardry. I funking love it.
