Ah, I just dont like Oblivieon at all, I see them as just another thrash band.

I see them as a more interesting Fear Factory. Demanufacture is just one of those albums I could never get the appeal of. Sure, theres some cool jams in there, but with Mnemic, you get these neat synthesizers and approachable vocals. I think the only band I could say that does this industrial sound any better is Mechina, but they are a different league, as they have more epic songwriting and symphonics that actually go with the song (Wish Fleshgod Apocalypse could do that)

Demanufacture is my least favorite Fear Factory album besides Concrete, their best albums to me are Obsolete and Genexus Never listened to Mechina so I cant comment on them. Fleshgod are just okay, I prefer Septicflesh way over them.

Eeeh Disarmonia Mundi are kinda meh to me but you know how I am with melodeath.

I admit that theyre not that special but I enjoy what little ive heard out of their work. Yeah I know what youre like with your melodeaths, like I mean I like a lot of Melodeath but even I say that there really is some bands that I cant stand in the genre (Mercenary, The Black Dahlia Murderer, Mors Principium Est). That reminds me, I know youre not the biggest fan of Scar Symmetry but im curious towards how you feel about Miseration since theyre more DM with minor melodic elements.

Miseration is pretty great, at least what I remember of the first two albums. The first one has some Christian Alvestam cleans pretty regularly but it's more subdued and the album is way more death metal than anything he did in any other band really. The second album is even more death metal and I don't think there are any cleans. I'm going to revisit them now actually so thanks for bringing them up haha

Ive only ever listened to their second album, should get their first one up and listen to it sometime. Yeah gotta love those Alvestam vocals, its just a shame that now hes only in Solution .45, never really was that big of a fan.

SLIDES IN

Rock and especially metal is my lifeblood okay. I'm more geared towards thrash or just straightforward heavy metal than any specific subgenre (most black, death, industrial metal bands and such are kinda ehhh to me), tho symphonic metal is delicious, and jazz metal is a concept I'm very big on even tho there aren't really any "jazz metal" bands that I know of, only certain works by Daisuke Ishiwatari, one of my heroes in terms of music composition.

My three fav bands are Motörhead, Megadeth, and My Chemical Romance (the latter of which isn't metal but still fits into the post-hardcore genre, especially their first album), so a little something from each generation

I haven't actually heard of any of these bands discussed recently, but I'll check em out!

Awesome, happy to have some fresh blood in here. I'm not than sure that you'll find lots to like and discuss!

As far as jazz metal, I only know some bands that have a jazz influence...Aethiest and Cynic are both death metal bands that incorporated jazz elements into their music. I'm not a fan of Aethiest but Cynic's first album Focus is great, if a bit weird.

There's also some jazzy hardcore like The Dillinger Escape Plan (mostly on their first album Calculating Infinity, but the rest are great to) and Ephel Duath. Ephel Duath's only album that I like is Pain Necessary to Know which is probably their heaviest and doesn't have obnoxious clean vocals like their other albums. So check that stuff if you're interested, there's definitely more that I'm forgetting.

Man, I'm learning about a lot of pretty unknown bands here. Gotta make sure I sit down to give them all a listen…

ED sounds… odd, definitely. I haven't heard enough yet to know exactly what you mean regarding their vocals, but I honestly much prefer clean vocals over constant screaming or gravelly bellowing or growling, since it can sound silly depending on who's doing it (I know that sounds kind of hypocritical of me considering Lemmy and Mustaine are known for their dirty vocals, but… it's a bit hard to explain)

Right now I'm listening to New Stars, No Refrain, and a Cigarette and it sounds… very much like heavy freeform jazz, which isn't quite what I meant but it's definitely something… I like it

Oh cool we got new blood in here, thats rare nowadays. MCRs debut is Post-Hardcore and it rules though the rest of their stuff is more Alt Rock or maybe Pop Punk (Pop Alternative?). If you get into TDEP then you should try out The Number 12 Looks Like You, theyre essentially TDEP but even more Jazzy. Yeah Cynic are an acquired taste but worth the listen. Their first album Focus is a masterpiece though Traced In Air and the Carbon-Based Anatomy EP are also quite good though Kindly Bent to Free Us was just okay.

Since you prefer bands that dont scream throughout the whole song

Ehh… there's something about these bands, or at least these songs that just doesn't click for me. In Flames is closer to my tastes than Underoath tho

Maybe I'm just a picky little b****. Tho I also probably should have mentioned that metalcore is not my cup of tea in the slightest, ahaha

Not sure if you guys have ever heard of Alestorm, but they're an entertaining power/folk metal band with a pirate motif that has some real thrashers under their belt, including the breakneck (albeit slightly offensive)Midget Saw

(now let's see if I can figure out how embedding videos works on this forum without making myself look dumb. EDIT: Nope, didn't work, I'll just link)

As far as MCR goes, while their subsequent albums after Bullets are definitely more mainstream-oriented, (Revenge I would definitely classify as pop-punk, Black Parade was more straightforward alt rock) I still say their songwriting is admirable, especially in songs like Thank You For the Venom, Mama, and It's Not a Fashion Statement, It's a F***ing Deathwish, the latter of which I consider one of their best works

Also, if you haven't listened to Bury Me In Black, I implore you to do so. It was written around the time of their first album so it sounds very much in that vein, and is a song I also consider one of their absolute finest

Metalcore is the best brah, assuming you're listening to the right kinds of course. Most modern "scene" metalcore is sheet but metalcore (or "metallic hardcore" as it was called at the time) from the 90s sound completely different and way better, as do modern bands that take influence from the old ones.

Not exactly metal and more Hard Rock, but I just had to pipe in and say this.  Axl Rose is gonna be taking Brian Johnson's Place in AC/DC.  Source here.  Never expected that.

Ugh. tbh this is a case of a singer I can't stand joining a band I can't stand. Can't say I ever would have even found out if no one told me haha.

Yeah most Metalcore bands who formed after 2005 are pretty bad though during its original and second eras Metalcore was truly great.

Some Metalcore bands that were from that era.

I'M SO GLAD SOMEONE ELSE DOESN'T LIKE AC/DC TBH

People keep comparing them to Motörhead and saying they're just as good and nah??????? Nah

I always thought that AC/DC were the first "radio rock" band.

That sounds amazing will watch

Also this, new The Fall of Troy song. Now convinced that this will be their best album.

Quotes in the video are hilarious.

Its only a short series of 1-2 minute episodes. It is amazing, best anime of 2016.

The new Fall of Troy is something ive been hyped for a while over.

Got into these albums
