It's not exclusively grindcore, but the influence is definitely there. Apparently he used to be into stuff like Converge, Botch, The Locust and Ed Gein.

Well Silverstein did a cover of Orchid so this doesnt really come to a surprise.

I was pretty impressed when I first heard that Orchid cover haha. I remember an interview where their newest guitarist said he was a fan of those 90s metalcore bands like Botch and wanted to incorporate some of that style into Silverstein's music but he didn't want to mess with what the band had already been doing for a long time. Too bad if you ask me but I'm not a fan of SIlverstein.

I couldnt get into Silverstein either, I only figured out about that cover since a friend of mine is a fan of them. I would be a bigger fan of them if they did more stuff like that cover.

That Aspid album rules, wish I'd listened to it sooner. I'll have to compare the original and remastered versions to see which one I like better, apparently there's a version of the remaster that's sped up for some reason.

Its up there as one of the best Thrash albums Ive ever heard, as soon as I saw the cover I knew I was in for a ride and it sure was a ride.

Recently got into this album

I don't like 18 Visions very much =/

Rediscovered this today

Eh at first I thought they were okay but I decided to listen to a full album during school today and got more into them.

You and I are one of the best screamo bands

So, Rotting Christ's newest effort just dropped as a full-length stream on Season of Mist's YouTube and it's so underwhelming it almost hurts. It's not a bad album in any means, but I just feel like their past 3 - 4 albums are just one LOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG album. It's almost like they found a sound that worked and now they're beating the life out of it until it stops selling.

Never listened to Rotting Christ but damn it always sucks when bands just run out of things to do and just continue on anyways being regardless of the lack of creative juices.

Their back catalog is actually really good and I suggest you listen to basically everything from '93 - '02. Genesis (2002) was a bit on the weak side, I think (along with many others). Sanctus Diavolus came out right after that and was amazing, but that basically marked their sound. Everything after Sanctus sounds like a rehashed version of it. They're just so stuck in their ways that I don't foresee them really changing their recipe. They started back in like 88 or 89 as a grindcore/death metal band, but then they shifted towards a black metal sound which is basically everything in the middle of their catalog. Then around the end of the 90's they had this gothic sound and eventually they evolved into this crushing gothic/black metal sound with Latin/Greek chants and they haven't really done anything different since. It was great for a few albums, but now it's just like, "Okay, haven't I heard this album before?"

Second new Inverloch track, I'm so excited for this album.

And here's the first one too because it rules.

That's disappointing, I've never really listened to them either but I kind of assumed they wouldn't be my style.

Dude that sucks, the new Inverloch is definitely going to be one of my favorite death metal albums this year.

Heard the new Deftones track, sounded pretty good but not mind-blowing. Still excited for the album.

hopefully ill be able to get a download link when it comes out

New Deftones track is great, sure its nothing mindblowing but even when Deftones are at their worst they still rule hard

I love this album, I wish I could get a physical copy someday

I could probs send you a copy, I know a place that has one for like $2. Or I could send you mine.

New Inverloch is going to be incredible. I keep looking for a leak because I want to hear the whole thing, but no word from any of my sources yet. Most likely going to pre-order it this week though and grab it in FLAC from BandCamp.

I preordered my CD a couple of weeks ago, getting a shirt too! Also preordered the new Wormed album if you like brutal sci-fi themed death metal.

I would probably need your address haha. I remember seeing it in a 3 for $5used section and I'm sure it's still there. Btw how do you embed YouTube videos via mobile again?

Well if you wanna do that then id rather wait until I get my own address or at least move out to my sisters. Im very paranoid with my online interactions and my parents even though I wouldnt be surprised if they knew.

change m to www and youll be fine as it seems now

I usually pre-order/buy music once per paycheck. I just pre-ordered Explosions in the Sky's new release, so Inverloch is going to have to wait. I'm really pumped for Wormed's new effort as well. I'm hoping it's absolutely devastating.

That's understandable, I wouldn't want to do anything you weren't comfortable with.

Thanks again, I'll remember that now haha.

If the single they dropped is anything to go by, it'll rip holes in dimensions.

Gonna post this as well, probably one of the most insane death metal album I've ever heard. The playing on this is unreal.

That album bugs me to no end. There was a time in my life where I was handing out burned CD-R copies of that album to all of my metalhead friends who THOUGHT they knew what technical playing sounded like. While I agree that it is one of the most unreal death metal albums around, it offers little value aside from "look what this group of musicians can do." There's no feeling of structure, only a handful of discernible riffs, and there's no real way to appreciate the album because you can't really just throw it on... You actually HAVE to focus on it to get anything out of it, and I just end up exhausted after the first two tracks. There just seems to be... no real reason for anything going on on that album. Lmao.

Personally I dont mind the fact that all there is to Crimson Massacre is their playing since it helps give the album a bit of a surreal atmosphere, its fun to listen to due to how completely unpredictable it is.

I am unable to get this song off my mind
