I prefered Sleepers in the Rift over Sweven, honestly.

My black metal tastes vary from raw BM like Peste Noire to more atmospheric stuff like Panopticon and Skagos.

I understand why youd say that but for me Sweven was way more interesting, its like the band said "funk it lets just do something really weird"

I used to like the raw stuff but I found myself getting bored of it really quickly now its mostly just the really unorthodox and atmospheric stuff that I listen to for Black Metal.

I thought it was interesting and really innovative and I appreciate when bands stray off of the beaten path, but for me, that doesn't always equate to enjoyable. Outside of the individuality of the sound, there wasn't a ton of merit left for me. But, alas, I am just one guy with an opinion.

Raw BM has to be really well done for me to enjoy it these days because I feel like raw BM bands are a dime a dozen. The influx of bedroom solo raw projects kind of result in the genre drowning in mediocrity. Atmospheric black metal sometimes suffers the same fate though because everyone with a department store keyboard can lay down some "atmospheric keys" for 45 minutes and call it ambiance. I feel as though many atmospheric black projects generally just have more to offer though.

Coral have you ever listened to this album before, it was done by a Thrash Metal band from Russia, it unfortunately had bad promotion and the band split up shortly after the release of the album. Its got lots of Tech induced riffs and even some weird samples in it, its actually considered to be the greatest Thrash record of all time and is a cult classic that has an immense amount of praise. Its also got some amazing Godzilla-esque album art.

I've actually heard of it and have been meaning to listen to it for quite awhile but never got around to it. I think I will tonight! You digging Coroner?

I work one Saturday and miss a whole page of posts, half of which were by DISMAL WTF

I've been meaning to check both Chthe'ilist and Triumvir Foul, so I'll probably do that now.

Dismal have you heard Zealotry or Swallowed?

I come back when you least expect it...

And yes, I have both of them in my library. The Charnel Expanse and Lunarterial are both fantastic albums, respectively.

Side Note: Wedrujacy Wiatr confirmed that there will be a new album in 2016... I have been waiting almost three years for this.

It was actually the first Thrash album that I liked but I had forgotten about it for a long time.

I love Mental Vortex and Grin though I have No More Color on my laptop and havent listened to it yet. Personally I liked Grin the most out of the two ive heard.

On the topic of thrash, check Anacrusis! They're great thrash/prog from the 90s. Can't post any because I'm on my phone.

Chthe'ilist was great but they do ape Demilich quite a bit. Plenty of other influences as well though.

I post from my phone a lot of times, its pretty easy once youre used to it. Ill download Anacrusis and keep Chthe'ilist in mind too for tonight.

Evergreen Terrace

Yeah...I couldnt find any other videos save for live recordings

I just don't know how to link videos via mobile, I'm a pleb I know.

Going to check Aspid either tonight or tomorrow nothing. It's looking like tomorrow though.

Just hold on the address and hit copy and then after that paste it and change the m to www, or if you have a Sony phone or some other weird phone you can go to the thumbnail and hold onto it, then click Copy Link Address and then paste it and once again change the m to www.

Hope youll like Aspid

Love this band. Love this album.

Ah, Desolate Shrine. I love death metal that murks but I haven't really listened to them much yet.

Mitochondrion is some of my favorite murky death metal.

Also currently jamming Off Minor, been on an emo binge lately.

I suggest you do. They only have three albums out, and they're all pretty top notch. And Mitochondrion is amazing. I remember stumbling upon some of their stuff a few years back and being blown away. Parasignosis was outrageous.

You know, I never really got into Aevangelist... but, then again, I haven't listened to them in quite some time. I might have to revisit some of their work.

You should give them a try, Omen Ex Simulacra is probably the heaviest album ive ever listened to, its like if Mitochondrion and Ulcerate had a love child.

Aevangelist is great, though the death metal aspect seems to just be a reinforcement to their nightmarish soundscapes. I dunno I would put them in the same camp as Mitochondrion or Ulcerate (in fact those two bands aren't really that similar to me tbh), though I love both of them as well. Ulcerate is definitely the best modern technical death metal band.

Listening to that Triumvir Foul record now.

I get the power and fury of Mitochondrion mixed with the dense atmosphere of Ulcerate whenever I listen to Aevangelist, I guess you could argue that the overall sound is much different but still id say that the feelings I get from them seem to mirror a combination of both bands. Personally I feel that there are other modern Tech Death bands that top off Aevangelist (Gojira, BtBaM, Hacride, Artificial Brain, Ulcerate, GIGAN and probably a few others Im not thinking of)

I guess it depends which album, Omen Ex Similucra has much more of the vibe you're talking about, The latest two (to me at least) are much more noise-oriented and ease up on the death metal considerably though they're just as hellish-sounding if not more so. Also speed and technicality are not exactly Aevangelist's forte, which are pretty big parts of Ulcerate's music. I guess the bands don't remind me of each other because of their writing techniques all being very different, though they do all share a common aspect in their very dense sound.

btw Number Girl

Ive only listened to Omen Ex Simulacra so I guess that explains why I think of them as that.

Number Girl are a really fun band, I get Young Girl Seventeen Sexually Knowing stuck in my head constantly.

Have you heard Ling Tosite Sigure? Kind of amazing

Hold the phone, this new EP by BEA5T just dropped. It's a grindcore EP by Craig Owens and his friend Hiram. And it rips.

You mean the Craig Owens from Chiodos and Destroy Rebuild Until God Shows? Grindcore is certainly an interesting direction for him to take

I love this album so much

It's not exclusively grindcore, but the influence is definitely there. Apparently he used to be into stuff like Converge, Botch, The Locust and Ed Gein.
