They're still recording but they have pretty much none of the original members so I figure what's the point.

And yeah Born of Osiris is definitely up my alley.

yeah BtA really didnt benefit from the loss of their members, theyve really just been going on a long downhill slope, their last album was horrible sounding. The Discovery is the only BoO album that ive liked so far, couldnt stand Tomorrow We Die Alive and their newest track was just meh to me.

also Coral im loving that Dark Sermon album, vocals kind of remind me of Misery Signals. it actually feels like im hearing Misery Signals, Ulcerate and Deathspell Omega thrown together into one package.

I kind of see where you're coming from with those comparisons but I consider them a bit of a stretch. To me it has a kind of "blackened" death metal vibe with very subtle core influences, but not much wank. Sick riffs and trems though.

Another new Deafheaven song just came out.

yeah i know theyre a bit of a stretch but those were the closest that i could get i mostly used Misery Signals since their vocalist reminds me of the way how Karl sounds, Ulcerate i said mostly because the atmospheric tidbits where very much like theirs, it may be small but its still there, and i got Deathspell Omega since they have a Prog twist to their Blackened sound. most people ive seen tend to call Dark Sermon Deathcore and Progressive Death Metal, i think Deathcore is a bit unreasonable but i can see Progressive Death Metal a bit more.

and that new Deafheaven track was great, you really cant expect them to ever fail, it would be sick if their new album could top off Sunbather.

Dark Sermon's first album was much more of a deathcore album, the new one changed up their sound quite a bit. It's really great though.

I actually jammed Everything Is Fire today if you didn't notice, never fails to blow me away. One of the best death metal albums ever.

I liked the new Deafheaven track, as well as the last one. I won't be able to decide if it's better than Sunbather until I hear it in full, but I think it'd be hard to do. "Vertigo" is just such an amazing track that I don't know how they could top it.

And with that I'm off to bed, night night Moog love and whoever else reads this.

i guess that explains the Deathcore tag on last.fm. Everything Is Fire would have to take a backseat to Vermis for me, ive never heard another album that can wrap me up in its sound more than that one can. i wont decide whether the new album will be better than Sunbather or not since its way too early to decided that but i think it has potential to top it off. Vertigo is a great track but Sunbather and Dream House have to take the cake for my favorite songs off of Sunbather.

i should probably go to bed as well considering that school is a thing.

Melodeath is unfortunately pretty limited in its quality offerings but there are some gems here and there.

This isn't melodeath, but it rips. Modern OSDM at it's finest.

the more i jump into Melodeath the more im starting to believe that. Insomnium and Disarmonia Mundi were both okay though i really fell in love with In Mourning. listening to Dominia right now and id probably consider them to be pretty great, reminds me a lot of Septic Flesh with the symphonic elements.

i will check out that album after im finished with Dominia

I remember liking In Mourning awhile back, but I also remember them being very chug-happy. I haven't listened to anything else they've done though. I don't think I've ever heard of Dominia.

In Mourning are quite chuggy but i dont mind them doing it since they have quite a bit more with their sound. Dominia are quite good theyre Melodeath with Symphonic elements so expect lots of violins. i also ended up enjoying that Cruciamentum album.

i think that Come Clarity is starting to become my favorite In Flames album

Come Clarity is great. Soundtrack to Your Escape is special to me though, love the atmosphere.

Glad you dug Cruciamentum, that album rips. I'm hopefully picking it up tomorrow along with Ulcerate's The Coming of Genocide.

i actually feel that way with Come Clarity, it was my first In Flames album and one of my first Metal albums that i bought. soundwise i love how they balance out their Alternative style with their Melodeath style.

giving Above the Weeping World by Insomnium a shot and so far i like it better than Shadows of A Dying Sun though ive only gotten up to the first few tracks so well see if it holds up through the rest of the album.

I checked Shadows of a Dying Sun once and thought it was boooooriiiing. I gave In Mourning's latest was a bit boring too, sadly.

New Birds in row album coming out in a month, super stoked.

id say that Above the Weeping World is much better, its a little more Death-y and has no clean vocals unlike the super accessible Shadows of a Dying Sun which had a few decent moments but was mostly boring. the latest In Mourning didnt get me as much as Monolith did but i still liked it, still have yet to dive into their debut though and ive heard that theyve been recording a new album for a while now.

i havent listened to Birds In Row in a long time though im still happy to hear that theyre coming out with some new material.

It's actually just an EP but it's seven tracks which is pretty good. I'm excited for it.

eh thats fine by me, im just glad that theyre coming out with more stuff.

continuing my search through Melodeath with Kalmah, downloading Swamplord, The Black Waltz  and For the Revolution

EDIT: done listening to Swamplord and The Black Waltz both were pretty good but i have to say that the Children of Bodom worship is really damn high in this one.

and now i have no idea where else to go with Melodeath, id try out Be'lakor or The Haunted but im not really in the mood for raw Melodeath

Yea, melodeath unfortunately doesn't have too much to offer aside from some a few really good bands. Hopefully the next Dark Tranquillity album will be sick, it should be coming out next year.

Norma Jean tomorrow night! They're playing O' God, the Aftermath in full, my favorite of their albums.

i doubt that Dark Tranquillity will do anything bad. decided to listen to Be'lakor afterall and theyre just okay to me. in terms of Melodeath for every good band theres 5 boring ones to get through.

as much as i love O God the Aftermath i still stand by my love for Redeemer. Liarsenic though is one of my favorite songs that Norma Jean has ever come out with.

The show was awesome, especially "Disconnecktie". Josh Scogin came out to do "Memphis Will Be Laid to Waste" for the encore.

lucky you, Disconnektie is another one of my favorite tracks and Memphis Will Be Laid To Waste is a classic song.

listened to this album

and now im in the mood for Norma Jean

Sybreed is great, my faves are Antares and The Pulse of Awakening. So cold and chilling.

those two are actually my favorites as well, i dont listen to Industrial Metal as much as i used to but Sybreed are golden, along with NIN one of my childhood bands.

gonna try out By Sunset by The Eyes of a Traitor, heard that it was among one of the better Deathcore releases.
