Susie
Order of releases: -Hearts Once Nourished With Hope and Compassion-That Within Blood Ill-Tempered-Misanthropy Pure -Reach Beyond the Sun That Within Blood Ill-Tempered or Reach Beyond the Sun are the best to start with. The former is considered their classic, but the latter is their most accessible while still keeping what people loved about the former. They're basically metalcore, but they have post-hardcore song structures and progressive tendencies. Virtually no breakdowns. Their first album Hearts Once Nourished With Hope and Compassion is a straight up hardcore album, and Misanthropy Pure is similar to the first two I mentioned but with increased focus on technicality and an overall more aggressive tone. Everything they've done is great, but the first two I mentioned are considered their best.im starting up Reach Beyond the Sun and its really sick so far, definitely one of the better Melodic Metalcore bands, probably one of the best, ive also got That Within Blood and ill listen to it after im done with Reach Beyond the Sun
~NOiSE~
Awesome, you won't regret it. They're known for having a constantly rotating line-up, the guitarist Matt Fox is the only one who's been in the band all the way since 1995. ~NOiSE~
That's what most people seem to agree on. Misanthropy Pure doesn't get the praise it deserves in my opinion though.

Susie
I probably wouldn't rank it that high but I though it was at least good. Jamming some SLOTHS. i havent had a whole lot of listening material this year so far but im pretty sure that once more albums come out itll get knocked off the top spot, ive never listened to SLOTHS before finished off with this album, id say its solid but nothing id consider to be all that special or really worth a whole lot of listenshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vPljg3MFg0Alyric video is all that i can find but whatever also checked out a few lynch. tracks they seem okay, might listen to a full album, might not listen to a full album, dunno what to think of their stuff really.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9-o0wBZBM9o

SLOTHS sound like theyd be great its cool that their stuff is name your price on bandcamp, makes things easier for me. id give Soul Embraced a little bit more than just "eh" though lynch i could for sure say "eh" to. More death-y, better songwriting, better vocals, more varied drumming, better production, and it's faster-paced.

Mythos is pretty good, it has some Meshuggah and Fear Factory-esque moments that are pretty cool.
Susie
The Red Chord is actually supposed to be really good, though I've never listened to them. Mythos is pretty good, it has some Meshuggah and Fear Factory-esque moments that are pretty cool. i used to listen to them back when i was into a bit of Deathcore but nowadays ive pretty much strayed away from that style completely and i just shrugged off The Red Chord as another generic Deathcore band, what gets me the most are the similar artists. how could a Deathcore band share anything in common with Scarlet, Poison the Well, Misery Signals, Burnt by the Sun and Johnny Truant. ~NOiSE~
I think the "core" part of their sound is mostly defined by those types of metalcore, rather than the chug-heavy stuff you're used to hearing in deathcore. Not to say that The Red Chord doesn't have it's share of chugging riffs but it's way more tasteful than the norm, and it borrows a lot from grindcore as well. Their album Fed Through the Teeth Machine might surprise you, I'm listening to it now.

Susie
so i decided to listen to this album again after a long time and i realized that i like it more than i really thought i did, its pretty commercial but still fun to listen to, still would keep it in my bottom three Underoath albums thoughhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K70VfYtWpX4
~NOiSE~
It's not a bad album at all, but it's definitely my least favorite. Changing of Times did it better I think.
Susie
It's not a bad album at all, but it's definitely my least favorite. Changing of Times did it better I think. i wouldnt say that either are all that similar, The Changing of Times had a more sad Metalcore feel while Theyre Only Chasing Safety had a more poppy Post-Hardcore feel to it. id say that New Medicines by Dead Poetic and anything by Emery were all able to accomplish that poppy Post-Hardcore sound that Theyre Only Chasing Safety was trying to go for and did it better. i never thought it was a bad album but ive noticed that theres more tracks on it that i like than i initially thought, A Boy Brushed In Red Living In Black and White, Down Set Go, Its Dangerous Business Walking Out Your Front Door and Im Content With Losing are all really good tracks and the only two that i really dont like are Reinventing Your Exit and Some Will Seek Forgiveness, those tracks were really meh. i think i might be starting to get into it more than Act of Depression. ~NOiSE~
I know what you mean but The Changing of Times was considerably more pop-oriented than the albums before it, not that it's really that poppy. Jamming some Off Minor.
