That's cool, not everyone's going to dig the same stuff I guess! At least we both agree that Full of Hell kicks ass.

And speaking of Kurt Ballou, I'm jamming All We Love We Leave Behind. Record never gets old.

yeah i wont ever say no to Full of Hell

All We Love We Leave Behind is my second favorite Converge album, Aimless Arrow was actually the first Converge song that i listened to. ah the memories of saying "what the funk is this?" and then waking up the next morning and saying "okay this is actually really funking good". its still one of my favorite songs by them too.

I can only recall two moments of confusion like that, the first being when I heard Norma Jean's "Murderotica" during a time when the heaviest thing I listened to was Skillet. I thought it was hilariously bad. The second was when I heard a sample of Napalm Death's album Scum on iTunes. I also thought it was horrible at the time.

i used to listen to Skillet too when i was in Elementary school, though the heaviest bands that i liked back then were probably Enter Shikari and Alexisonfire.

LOL saw your double post

You're lucky, I didn't start listening to good music until late high school. Might have something to do with my limited internet access up to that point.

AoF are a Canadian band so theyre really big in my area, i actually first found out about them through watching MuchMusic, late Elementary and early Junior High was when heavier music became a big thing with me. of course theres only a handful of bands that i still am into from that time but honestly if it werent for liking Greeley Estates, Drop Dead Gorgeous, A Static Lullaby and Atreyu then i probably would never have been able to get into the stuff that i like today.

Gotcha. I was mostly into Underoath and a bunch of lame Christcore bands, with some good ones sprinkled in. Of course I didn't come to properly appreciate the good stuff until I was older and started weeding out the shitty stuff.

the only Christcore band i listened to back then was As I Lay Dying, i didnt even know who Underoath were until they split up. i was more into scene Post-Hardcore back then but even then i hated a lot of mainstream scene stuff like Suicide Silence, Asking Alexandria and Bring Me the Horizon and i didnt know what a scenekid was either so i still had some standards back then. at least i was exposed to stuff like Radiohead, Joy Division and The Cure through my parents back then, so my taste in non-heavy music still holds up fine.

Your parents liked good music haha.

I was mostly into SolidState bands. Sucks that you didn't hear Underoath until late, I got into them when They're Only Chasing Safety was out and they were really gaining traction. Then Define the Great Line came out and pretty much set the standard for scene kids everywhere, one that no one achieved. The more chaotic guitar work helped me get into heavier bands like Norma Jean, and then I just started listening to anything that was heavy regardless of quality. I started fleshing out my tastes more during my second half of high school.

i never got into SolidState stuff until more recently. Underoath actually took me a long while before i got into them because the poppy choruses were a bit too poppy for my tastes at that time but then i heard the stuff with Dallas and really got into the song When the Sun Sleeps which helped me really get into Define the Great Line and Lost In the Sound of Separation. Norma Jean were a love at first listen though.

id say that Theyre Only Chasing Safety was the standard for scenekids considering how its their most popular record still to this date, which is sad.

Who, The Almost? I take it you're not a fan haha

yeah im not really into their stuff, pretty boring if you ask me, never got into Maylene either, though Sleepwave on the other hand are really damn sweet, definitely the only band that stemmed from Underoath members that i can really get behind.

I can't really get into any of them. I used to like Maylene a lot back in the day but not so much anymore. Sleepwave kind of bores me unfortunately, and I've never been into The Almost.

Been on a metalcore kick so I'm posting some.

Sleepwave reminds me a lot of Nine Inch Nails and Queens of the Stone Age which are both bands that have been around in my life for a while especially NIN, they practically made my life when i was 12

never heard of Bone Dance

god damn this song is so true. 1) people are sheet 2) everyone dies 3) I funk up

i dont really think i could ever find much to relate to from a Slipknot song, too nihilistic for my worldview, if were going to talk about songs that we find relatable:

yeah. say i'm a little nihilistic myself, so sorta fitting. there's certainly a point to it, but a meaning.. maybe.. maybe not.

unlike usual, i actually forced myself to sit through that. a lot of the stuff you two post is a little too... how to put it... not loud exactly... anyway.

i can sorta relate to this ^ too. and this  V

i wouldnt consider myself nihilistic, maybe when i was 12 and had a different mentality but definitely not nowadays. yeah me and Coral we tend to jam a lot of Hardcore music and recently some Technical Death Metal, but i still do like to tone it down as well with some lighter Post-Hardcore, Melodic Death Metal and even a select few Alt Metal bands. cant say that im a fan of A7X, though i used to be back in Junior High, grew tired of them pretty quickly though after i found their sound to be pretty tame and started to grow a dislike to M Shadows nasally vocals.

been listening to these two albums a lot this week

yeah, i noticed. i think most of the stuff i've liked that you two posted was from you. though i forgot one or two and i'm too lazy to find them. also thanks for reminding of these two songs.
