I like Gillian Carter alright, and my next name change is going to be Seizures-themed.

i just started up The Sanity Universal, at first listen i dismissed it as Bless the Martyr/Jane Doe worship but now at second listen i realize its a lot more than just that

funk the atmosphere in this is just soul crushing

its kind of like Spitfire/Scarlet or a heavier version of The Opposite Of December, i still like all of those better but The Sanity Universal is great too.

the dark is a very fun place to be

It's my favorite metalcore album. I think it takes influence from a lot of mathcore bands like Botch, Converge and similar groups but they definitely have a sound and aesthetic of their own. It's otherworldly.

im usually very biased against that style of Metalcore being played in modern Metalcore because it usually feels like theyre imitating rather than innovating, but Seizures are definitely one of the few bands that are innovating by really pushing the atmosphere to its highest, sometimes it feels like im drifting in space then it goes full on aggressive right at me in the matter of seconds, Suicide Support Hotline so far is my favorite track off of the album, the outro on that track is really something else.

im not too sure what id say my favorite Metalcore album is but The Sanity Universal would at least be in the top 20, probably not top 10 though

Glad you dig it man. Their first album Antipathy is good as well but not nearly as ambitious. It's half the length of The Sanity Universal and doesn't cover nearly as much ground, nor does it have the huge, spacey atmosphere. I'd still give it a listen though, it's rad.

Finally got my envy CD in the mail today!

By the way Moog, when you were talking about modern metalcore imitating classic mathcore, what bands might you be referring to?

Also jamming some Luti-Kriss right now.

a lot of more obscure Hardcore bands are trying to keep up a lot of the old school sounds, i cant name off any bands in particular since i dont listen to any of them, but theyre there.

never listened to Luti-Kriss yet but ive been planning on it

You should man, it's got a nu-metal sound kind of like Will Haven but also has a lot of hardcore influence, it's an interesting listen. It's basically the first Norma Jean album!

I actually used to own the first and last that you mentioned...I ended up selling them because I never felt interested in listening to them >.>

I will give them a shot again though

i would never sell my copy of Burn Piano Island Burn even if my own life depended on it

also listening to Luti-Kriss right now, damn good stuff, glad to hear that Josh Scogins vocals sounded pretty much the same back then and their sound is really good too

Yea Scogin is as fierce as ever on that album, the music is a lot more simplistic than what they started doing as Norma Jean though. You've listened to more Will Haven than I have, was my comparison unfounded?

eh its an okay comparison, though id say that Luti-Kriss are less sludgy and more closer to Metalcore, while Will Haven are closer to some weird sludgy Nu Metalcore sound, id say that Will Haven are better but Norma Jean has both of those bands blown out of the water. i still have yet to make it halfway so thats just my impression of the beginning of the album.

My girlfriend bought me the VIP bundle to the O' God, the Aftermath anniversary tour

I might cry

your girlfriend is one hell of a great person

have you heard the 5 ep by Luti-Kriss i just woke up and am listening to it right now, it kind of feels like a rawer version of Adrenaline by Deftones, really Nu Metal-ish compared to the Metalcore tinted with Nu Metal sound on Throwing Myself

done with the 5 EP, moved onto the new Will Haven which released a few months ago, this is just amazing easily one of the best, if not the best thing the band has done yet

Thank you Moog you are always so kind to me

Kashee Opeiah is awesome, I can send you a link to the album on my dropbox. It came out in 2006 and they're still active but they haven't done anything since then, though they said a new album should be coming out this year.
