I'll be sure to check some of their stuff out tomorrow!

You should check out Ulcerate, they're probably my favorite modern tech-death band.

Damn, that's brutal as funk. It frustrates me how I can barely hear the vocals, though that might just be my drunken state. Good sheet either way.

Any more tech-death that you recommend?

I was about to go into a lot of detail trying to explain a bunch of albums and how they each sound but I think I'll keep it simple and just throw some of my faves...be warned, some of these might be really weird on first listen.

Ulcerate - Everything Is Fire

Ulcerate - Vermis

Gorguts - Erosion of Sanity

Gorguts - Obscura

Gorguts - From Wisdom to Hate

Flourishing - The Sum of All Fossils

Gigan - Multi-Dimensional Fractal Sorcery and Super Science

Pyrrhon - The Mother of Virtues

Imperial Triumphant - Abyssal Gods

Demilich - Nespithe

I'd like to contribute if I may but 1 question. Does screamo count? I mean it is kind of but I want to make sure. Also there is an album by atreyu I enjoy lead sails and a paper anchor.

screamo is a form of hardcore so yes its safe to post here (though im not too sure if what youre thinking about is actually screamo)

not into Atreyu, since theyre not really the style of Metalcore that i enjoy

Yea, screamo is actually a lot different than what most people associate the word with, but I won't get into it right now.

I'm not familiar with Rise to Fall, but I don't really like Breaking Benjamin...I used to enjoy that Atreyu album in high school but my tastes have changed a lot since then. Still some good jams on there though.

One of my favorite Underoath tracks~

listening to Opeth right now

Wooo Opeth. How come you didn't like Flourishing? I dig them a lot, The Sum of All Fossils makes me think of Gorguts having a baby with Pelican.

i think its something about the vocals that bother me with Flourishing.

everything off of Disambiguation is pretty much gold

Whaaaat I love the vocals. Ah well.

There's another new envy track but I'm out right now and can't post it. The new album comes out in digital format tomorrow though, so stoked.

That's too bad, I quite like them. I figured any vocals would be easy to get into after liking Demilich haha.

Darn right about envy. My only complaint is that they didn't make Abyssal a full album. In fact, I might try to arrange the tracks from it and the splits with Thursday and Jesu into a cohesive full-length album for the fun of it.

the thing is with Flourishing is that i feel theyre unfitting, not that i cant stand the way they sound. with Demilichs vocals they fit the odd and surreal atmosphere and the lyrics go very well with them too. but Flourishing sound very out of place with their vocals. i did only listen to one song so maybe it was just the one track that i wasnt into

Ah well. Maybe it'll sync with you eventually, if not that's cool haha.

I got a free download of the new envy album for pre-ordering it, but the files aren't working for some reason. I emailed bandcamp about it so hopefully they can help. I was able to get it to work on my phone though, and the album is great as expected.

right now im jamming this album

I like the new envy more and more as I listen. And that Pyrrhon album as great, it's their first one called An Excellent Servant but a Terrible Master. They had an EP before that as well but I haven't listened to it yet.

Never listened to Type O Negative before, think I'd like them?

i dunno, theyre a Gothic Metal band with some Doom Metal thrown in, though theyre pretty legendary and influential for more than just Gothic Metal. Bloody Kisses is considered their magnum opus though October Rust is the most popular album, ive also heard World Coming Down though i havent listened to any of their other albums. Peter Steele has probably got the deepest sounding voice that ive ever heard, sucks that he died and the band couldnt go on without him.

the only thing by Pyrrhon that i ever listened to was The Mother of All Virtues and it was love at first listen.

I may check them out. In the meantime, the new Haste the Day album is great. It has members from every era of the band and both of their vocalists.

Aww, that sucks. I've got a few shows coming up that I'm pretty excited for.

Cellgraft is a great grind band, pretty similar to Discordance Axis. They broke up recently, sadly.
