Did not enjoy new Leviathan that much. Way too dragged for my taste. 1h+ album? It might even be ok, but I don't see myself sitting down to appreciate this.

Length doesn't bother me if the album proves engaging, in fact it enhances the experience for me, letting me delve further and deeper into the atmosphere. I like the album a lot. It reminds me a lot of Portal, except the music actually goes places and makes for a rewarding listen.

Feel like posting some Dir en grey.

Diabolos is one of my favorite songs off of Dum Spiro Spero, in fact that album is almost in my top 3 favorite Dir En Grey records (Uroboros, Arche and Kisou are still up in my top 3 spots)

I like all of them but I think I like Terminal Spirit Disease and With Fear... a bit more than Slaughter.

i havent listened to Terminal Spirit Disease yet, also The Red In the Sky Is Ours is still on my list of things to listen to

Terminal Spirit Disease is great, though it only has six original tracks, the rest being live recordings of previous material. The Red In the Sky Is Ours is a good death metal release, but it's definitely different than the more stripped-down sound they had later.

Probably because it was way different than their earlier stuff and not as heavy.

Been jamming some Pelican lately.

thats why i wonder how it didnt become a huge hit, Extol should of had gotten more popularity from that album, it was weird and melodic sounding does that not sound like an album that would become a monster hit off of Solid State? i get why the album wasnt popular with fans of the material prior to that album, but how did it not give them a lot more attention than they have now? In Flames and Underoath both had released albums which were more accessible than the early stuff and got loads of fame for it, so how could it not have worked with Extol? youd think that an album like The Blueprint Dives would get much more mainstream attention.

havent been taking much of an interest into Pelican or really any Post-Metal lately, not that i dislike the stuff, but more because ive been gaining an interest into other stuff, ill probably return to Post-Metal when im in the mood for it again

I honestly don't listen to a ton of post-metal, I think it's a really hard genre to get right and only a few bands have done it really well in my opinion.

Isis, The Ocean, Rosetta, Intronaut, Neurosis and Boris (kinda...i guess) are probably my top picks for Post-Metal, but i mostly prefer straight up Post-Rock bands like Godspeed You! Black Emperor, A Silver Mt. Zion, Mono and Mogwai over the Post-Metal bands that i enjoy.

It's not the best they've done but it's worth a listen.

Nice, that Hacride album is pretty good but much less huge and epic like Lazarus. It's more fast-paced and chuggy but I remember liking it.

yeah Amoeba was good but not as great as Lazarus was. Perturbed and Cycle are solid tracks though. i also enjoyed Terminal Spirit Disease it beats With Fear but it falls behind At War With Reality and Slaughter of the Soul

ill try out that Spitfire EP sometime

Dude that sheet is epic. Definitely the kind of melodeath I'm into. Really tight but also grandiose.

ive only ever listened to Symmetric In Design, Pitch Black Progress and Holographic Universe, all three albums are some pretty tight melodeath

ever heard of Soilwork?

I don't like Scar Symmetry nearly as much as I used to but they have some cool songs.

any melodeath fans here know what MyGrain albums are work looking at?

I remember liking their album Signs of Existence when I was in high school but I don't remember their first album very well. I haven't heard the two newest ones.

As for Soilwork, I think I liked The Chainheart Machine but I don't dig the new stuff too much.
