Voivod rules!

Nice buys, I've got some stuff coming in the mail but I might go CD shopping tomorrow.

Kiss It Goodbye for one of the best hardcore bands of the 90s.

Kiss It Goodbye are pretty cool though i only listen to them a little bit, theyre an amazing band but they dont appeal to me as much as some of the other bands that i enjoy listening to

finally got my computer hooked up, hopefully now ill be able to get through band discographies more quickly now, starting myself off with In Flames since i forget what their older stuff is like and also gonna go for Katatonia, Dark Tranquillity and a few others sometime this week

i think ive heard of Rotten Sound though ive never listened to them before

Rotten sound is great grindcore band. I'm convinced that Discordance Axis and Gridlink are the best grind bands though.

Coalesce is a fave of mine, I'm a sucker for angular riffs and odd time signatures (like that's a secret).

I dunno if you've listened to the newest Panopticon album but it has a lot of sick melodeath riffs, though it's still a black metal album for sure.

i love some angular riffs and odd time signatures but Coalesce arent exactly a favorite, i get that the vocals are unique and all but i can really only tolerate them for a specific amount of time before i get annoyed by them, really detracts from my overall enjoyment of them but i still dont mind them, though i havent listened to them in a while so that might have changed on me

old Dir En Grey sure was something...but i like it

Man I love Sean Ingram's vocals haha. He just sounds so pissed and I love it.

Kisou is definitely a unique entry in Dir en grey discography but it's one of my favorites. It also features some of Kyo's most screwed up lyrics, not family friendly in the slightest.

id much prefer the vocals of Josh Scogin, Jacob Bannon or Dallas Taylor, i really love the style of Kisou it really gives me a different feeling than the rest of their discography does

giving this album another go after giving it a listen in math class yesterday, its worth the second listen and so many more after that

Porcupine Tree is cool, but I haven't jammed them much since I started listening to less progressive rock. Fear of a Blank Planet is great though. The companion EP Nil Recurring is also really good.

ive only listened to Fear Of A Blank Planet as of now, i have a few of their other albums too though the one i plan on listening to next is The Incident, a lot of fans hated that album though the people who liked it said that it was PT at their darkest

Cave In are really good, i love all their stuff though Jupiter is the album that i keep on returning to

Terra Incognita is so damn great

also i just found this on Pyrrhons facebook page:

GOOD NEWS / BAD NEWS TIME:
The bad news is that Relapse Records have terminated their contract with Pyrrhon and will not be working on our next LP. The given reason for their decision was that The Mother of Virtues has not proven commercially successful, which will surely come as a major shock to anyone who’s heard it. Our split with Relapse will not affect our upcoming European tour plans next month.
The good news: we will release GROWTH WITHOUT END, a new EP, on June 2, 2015. That’s the cover art you’re looking at. Written and recorded in the aftermath of the TMoV sessions, and handled by the same team (Ryan Jones on tracking/mixing; Colin Marston on mastering; Caroline Harrison on art/layout), it is our fastest, scabbiest material to date. GROWTH WITHOUT END will come out on vinyl & digital via Handshake Inc., whom you may know through their great work with the likes of Gridlink, Rwake, Sulaco, and Couch Slut. We will be joining another Handshake band for a limited number of out-of-town live appearances in support of the EP before commencing work on our next batch of material. Dates & details TBA.
GROWTH WITHOUT END:
1. Cancer Mantra
2. Forget Yourself
3. The Mass
4. Viral Content
5. Turing’s Revenge

Yea I saw that about Pyrrhon, that really sucks. I hope they find a supportive label soon, can't wait to hear more stuff from them.

Speaking of Pyrrhon, at least one of the members is in a blackened death metal band called Imperial Triumphant and they are awesome. Think Gorguts and Deathspell Omega.

What's that VIP thing you've got? I've seen it around but I don't know what it's for.

Just a quick question to pose to all. Can anyone recommend me any prog rock/metal bands that use jazz fusion? Similar to the instrumental section after the first chorus of this song:

while i cant exactly say that theyre similar, Cynic were the first metal band to use Jazz Fusion elements (at least im pretty sure they were)
