Nice! I've got all of those except Mudvayne (don't really care for them), Alkaline Trio, and Blood Brothers.

Extol has nothing to do with djent. Burial and Undeceived are progressive black/death metal, Synergy is progressive thrash, The Blueprint Dives is I dunno how to describe, and Extol is kind of in the death/thrash realm as well.

A few of the members also played in a band called Mantric for a bit, which was pretty bleak-sounding prog metal.

Extol sound kinda cool, might get onto them someday, Mantric i might give a shot sometime too.

you should totally get Burn Piano Island Burn, its The Blood Brothers at their finest, Remains is a great album too, though if you wanna hear Alkaline Trio at their finest moment then go for Good Mourning. i really like old Mudvayne but i get why they wouldnt appeal to you, their sound is loaded to the brim with Nu Metal, but the Prog/Tech Metal elements added in are worth it for me at least. my only issues with LD 50 are the length of the album and the lyrics can get a bit too in your face at some parts.

I was going to post about that but I forgot. A new album would be interesting.

Recent buys:

Altar of Plagues - Mammal

Flourishing  - A Momentary Sense of the Immediate World

Flourishing - The Sum of All Fossils

Flourishing - Intersubjectivity

Deathspell Omega - Paracletus

Gorguts - Obscura (that one was not easy to get but this is easily the most sought after album I own)

Demilich - 20th Adversary of Emptiness

ive had Deathspell Omega on my "to listen to" list for a long while and as for Gorguts i probably would if gone for Colored Sands though Obscura aint bad either, Mammal might be my least favorite AoP album, not that theres anything wrong with the album.

so weve got From Autumn to Ashes, Refused, Thrice, Aiden, Poison the Well, Boys Night Out, Fear Before the March of Flames, Haste the Day, possibly The Blood Brothers, Glassjaw finally releasing their 3rd album (wont be surprised if this ones a false hope) and maybe Saosin with Anthony Green coming back.

Paracletus is the first Deathspell Omega I've listened to but I can definitely say that it's great. It's pretty darn kvlt though so be warned. I guess you could say the band is to black metal what Gorguts is to death metal, really atonal and dissonant but very orchestrated and complex.

About Obscura, it's definitely one of the weirdest death metal albums ever but I love it. The album itself is usually very expensive because it's been out of print for a long time (usually between $80-$100) and it's highly sought after. My girlfriend helped me win it on ebay as a birthday present which is amazing. I love Colored Sands but I like everything else Gorguts has done more.

I'm happy for you haha. I can't say that I've ever really liked this band though.

I'm buying this on Tuesday.

[snip]

Not really my kind of music but that is the most metal artwork I've ever seen.

Kind of off-topic, and mostly irrelevant since I kind of grew out of metalcore (as most people seem to do), but I ran into some random thing recently about Tim Lambesis saying a lot of "Christian metal" bands, including his, just say that to sell records.  That's kinda funking weird.  Also the most un-metal thing I've heard in my life.  At least bands that use Satanic imagery and sheet to sell records are up front about it.

Anyway, on another note:  I just bought this album:

And this:

FINLAND

I also bought Alestorm's latest album.

Aww, no love for Altar of Plagues?

I'm not too into melodic death metal these days (though there was a time that I was) aside from the originals: Dark Tranquillity, At the Gates and In Flames. I've recently been digging a lot of black metal and really dischordant, atonal death metal.

im fine with kvlt sheet, hell all that i used to listen to at one point was Black Metal, so Deathspell Omega shouldnt be a problem.

Coloured Sands is my favorite Gorguts album because i love the atmosphere in it. Obscura is definitely my second favorite. their worst imo is their debut album, Considered Dead, its the only album theyve done that does nothing for me.

Yea they're pretty awesome, Ian McKaye just makes everything he's involved with into gold.

I've been listening to a lot of metal though, as you may have noticed. I've been rediscovering my love for the genre after finding out that there are a lot of bands that were breaking the mold twenty years ago and more that still are today, which is what I needed to see. I've always preferred groups that did more with their sound than others.

Unfortunately, I'm not a fan of any of the groups you mentioned (though Slipknot has some good tracks and Metallica's classic albums have my respect). I'm much more into underground hardcore punk as well as black metal and progressive/technical death metal.

Been listening to my favorite 2013 album a lot lately.

Anyone here ever heard of Device?

Vilify is one of my favorites by them:

Also Hunted:

And Opinion:

Disturbed Breaking Benjamin, Slipknot, Five Finger Death Punch, and Metallica are definitely my top 5. Followed closely by Device and Iron Maiden.

never got into Device or FFDP, Slipknot are not too bad i enjoy listening to them on occasion, never really got into Iron Maiden or Metallica though i do respect them for being classic bands and i used to be a huge fan of Breaking Benjamin in elementary school though ive recently grown out of that style of music. i mostly prefer various styles of Hardcore (Hardcore Punk, Metalcore/Mathcore, Post-Hardcore etc.), Punk and Progressive Metal.

have you ever tried out these albums?

White Pony is awesome. I'm going to listen to that Mudvayne album because it seems to be much much better than the stuff they put out afterward, at least from what I've read.

.

its definitely a lot better than their bland, mediocre later stuff, its got a more progressive/technical sound and is overall heavier. a lot of fans of their first album also enjoyed their second album, though ive never given it a try.

there is never a time when ill say no to White Pony

Seizures is a metalcore band in the vein of Coalesce, Botch, and early Converge. Their latest album The Sanity Universal is badass.

This, this is amazing. I have been on a black metal streak as of late and this is some of the best I've heard.
