Saw Anberlin last night with '68 and Copeland opening, awesome show and the last time I'll ever see Anberlin.

you got to see Anberlin, '68 and Copeland in one concert, i am jealous as all hell

Like the new Stolas fine while Hail The Sun is better. Finch's new lp was a disappointment. Been listening to Embrace and Tove Lo lately though so my judgement might be disagreeable.

i loved all three of them, though i can see why someone would find Back to Oblivion to be a dissapointment, personally to me it feels like Finch wanted to make an album that stylistically like SHTS but had the catchiness of WIITB.

i enjoy Full of Hell but i rarely listen to them, their collab with Merzbow was pretty sick though

not too sure how many of you guys like Sigur Ros but Thursday did a really nice cover of one of their tracks that i recently found out about

also Flint since you and I are really the only ones here who are big into them, BtBaM and ABR are both releasing a new album next year, no tracks out so far but im still pretty excited

I don't know, have no strong feelings bout BtBaM's new lp. I don't think they can release a bad album even if they try. Curious bout ABR since they change their record labels.

Cap 'n Jazz is a classic and I love everything Japandroids. Still need to find All Lies unless the compilation album includes them, might just get that.

i didnt think that the Parallax II was a bad album but it was one of BtBaMs weakest album, thankfully the Parallax EP before that was much better, and judging by ABRs cover of Wrecking Ball for the newest Punk Goes Pop record theyre gonna put in some clean vocals.

Capn Jazz are pretty good, never really listened to Japandroids yet though.

yeah i just got the news today, so happy that Glassjaw are releasing new material soon, i will get onto Japandroids eventually

also the From Autumn to Ashes reunion has been made official, i honestly find it hard to believe that 2014 is reality and not a dream right now

giving a few more Voivod records a shot tonight

Negatron is cool, it's like the early steps of the sound they eventually perfect on Phobos

FATA and Refused playing at the same show, Glassjaw "might" release new materials, Deftones and SOAD touring together(I think), I feel like a kid again.

Saying might because Glassjaw was like "wanna heard a new song?" and started playing the whole EYEWTAS on a show.

lol i used to love SOAD as a kid, cant stand them nowadays though

and yeah i think im a bit iffy about whether Glassjaw are really gonna release new material, but i think that this time im leaning more towards them actually doing something

yeah Negatron is pretty nice, but not as good as Phobos

i think you might be happy to hear that ive started to grow fond of Gorguts, it took a while but im easing into them

i also dont mind Focus but i still prefer Traced In Air and Carbon-Based Anatomy over it

Gorguts rules. If you're starting to dig them, you should check out Ulcerate and Mitochondrion.

Whaaaat you've never listened to anything else? You'll probably be surprised when you go back through some of their earlier work, every album is really one of a kind.

weird i know, Uroboros, The Marrow of the Bone and Vulgar are the only Dir En Grey albums ive heard as of now, would get more, but thats such a chore when you only can access your computer on every second weekend...and its a shared one

Tides of Man have been the sheet for me recently

For me it's been Throats and Maths.

Throats just rips faces off.

Here's a link to the Maths bandcamp, their album Descent really needs to be heard in its entirety rather than individual songs. It's one of the best recent emo/hardcore albums in my opinion.

Both bands also did a split together, worth checking out if you like what you hear from them.

Ulcerate are a bit more on the Death Metal-ish side than i usually prefer but i still dig, i can see some Gorguts in their sound but every song in Colored Sands beats out that one imo

im hitting myself in the head right now for not listening to this until now

I have been on an Ulcerate kick for the past few days, their last three albums are nothing short of amazing. They do take influence from Gorguts, though they have their own unique style. I think you'd really dig if you checked out a full album, Everything Is Fire is generally considered their best (and for good reason), very chaotic and discordant. The Destroyers of All is also very good and has more of a post-metal flavor, and Vermis finds middle ground between the two.  They're the kind of band that takes multiple listens for all the nuances to really sink in.

Haven't heard that split but I will check it out, I've heard it's great.

yeah i definitely will get onto Ulcerate sometime, The Destroyers of All is probably the album that i should check out first along with Vermis, i wont forget about Everything Is Fire either.

and yes that split is great, its probably the best split that ive ever listened to, mainly because im a die hard fan of both Hot Water Music and Alkaline Trio.

also what is your favorite Voivod album? so far out of everything ive heard i like Target Earth the best

I think you could definitely like Ulcerate if you were able to get into Gorguts, the music is just much more dense and abyssal sounding. I really like that kind of thing though, as my love for Mitochondrion and Portal probably gives away.

I'm not sure about my favorite Voivod, since there is actually a lot of their music that I have yet to listen to. I've jammed Killing Technology, Dimension Hatross, Nothingface, Negatron, Phobos (probably my favorite at the moment since it got me interested in them), and Target Earth. I really need to get on to the rest since I'm seeing them in January.

ive listened to Target Earth, Phobos, Negatron, Nothingface, War and Pain, and Roooaaarrr. I liked all of the albums except for War and Pain and Roooaaarrr, those albums were more straight up thrashy speed metal albums and are boring to listen to. I still have yet to re-listen to Killing Technology and Dimension Hatross which i remembered not liking before i got into Phobos.

leaving some Oceansize before i head off to bed, since theyre criminally underrated
