I love Drudkh, one of the few folky black metal bands I can stand. I agree that the new Agalloch is great but not the best.

Moog, you'd like Lantlos, I'd recommend just listening to all of their albums from start to finish because they're all different.

I forgot to mention Altar of Plagues, Teethed Glory and Injury was amazing. I haven't checked out anything else they've done yet though.

Drudkh is very hit and miss though because their material is either incredible or horrendously monotonous. The former outnumbers the latter, however.

The only release from Lantlos I didn't care for was their newest.

I was going to say this exactly. When speaking of Altar of Plagues, White Tomb is their pinnacle. I don't care if you have to postpone your chores or the birth of your first child; listen to it.

I've been listening to Zao a lot actually, particularly The Fear Is What Keeps Us Here. It might be my second favorite behind Liberate Te Ex Inferis.

i love The Fear Is What Keeps Us Here, its my second favorite right behind Parade of Chaos.

Liberate Te Ex Inferis is also a great album, the dark sludgy riffs always make me feel like im being taken to the deepest layer of hell.

I like Parade of Chaos but a few others beat it out.

The new Rosetta EP, Flies to Flame, is really good. Got it awhile ago but feel like talking about it now.

So Napalm Death and Voivod are co-headlining a tour and they're coming through my own in January. Can I get a HELL YES?!?!

i dont listen to much out of Napalm Death or Voivod, but i do enjoy both of them

i found out that Taking Back Sunday, letlive. and The Menzingers are touring together, but theyre far away from me...the troubles of being in Atlantic Canada

Both bands rule so it should be awesome.

I'm not really a fan of any of the bands you mentioned though =/

I know about them, they're pretty good but I'm not super into them. I saw them and La Dispute open for Hot Water Music awhile back.

Surprised you haven't listened to much Napalm Death, thought you were pretty big on grind.

im not into Grind as much as i used to be, for me nowadays its mostly just Post-Hardcore and Punk Rock with a bit of Metalcore, though even when i was a major gindhead i never did bother too much with Napalm Death, still loved them even though i never listened to them all that much.

personally i love The Menzingers and i listen to On the Impossible Past quite a bit, their new record isnt too bad either, but possibly the worst out of all their releases.

fav Hot Water Music album? id probably say Caution with A Flight and A Crash as well as Forever and Counting trailing behind it

RIP Jonathan Athon, bassist of Black Tusk

theres been a lot of musician deaths this year, at least in terms of heavy/obscure music

Hard to say, but I'm pretty fond of Caution and Fuel for the Hate Game. All of their albums are great though.

Digging some Tombs.

Saw several bands post about the Black Tusk bassist, really sad. It does seem like there have been a lot of musician deaths lately.

agreed, you can never go wrong with Hot Water Music, yes even Exister, one of the best and underrated bands to come from the Punk Revival scene, never heard of Tombs until now though that track is pretty sick

Tombs is great, really cool mix of black metal and sludgy hardcore. You'd probably dig them.

ill get onto them sometime when i feel in the mood for that sort of stuff

tried listening to a few songs off of Patterns of the Horizon, really not getting into what i hear and i cant tell if i can tolerate it more or less than Dear Love, so i guess i just cant stand any of their stuff pre-Plagues

K, I know Coral Blue isn't into them, but I'm listening to JFAC's new album right now, and I have no words for it. It's so f*cking amazing. If it ends up being awesome through and through, I might actually buy it on iTunes.

Buy a hard copy or go home!!

I've heard it's leaps and bounds better than their previous material so I might check it out, but you know I'm pretty choosy with my death metal. I prefer very dense, discordant, atmospheric death metal, i.e. Gorguts, Ulcerate, Mitochondrion, and Portal. All still plenty technical though.
