Ya Cynic is definitely an acquired taste, but especially rewarding in my opinion. It's too bad about the In Flames album because I love everything they've done up until now. I haven't really been interested in listening to the new Darkest Hour but I guess I don't have to if it sucks.

I'l listen to that Finch song later because I'm about to go to work, I dug the last one.

oh yeah Cynic are definitely one hell of an acquired taste, during the other times ive listened to them i couldnt even make it to the halfway point, so im gonna at least try to make it past there.

the new Darkest Hour album is not worth anyones time at all, its so boring and typical sounding. It pains me to say that this and that the new In Flames were awful because i too have loved everything theyve done up until now.

the new Finch album i think might be my AOTY and i think itll top off Say Hello to Sunshine and What It Is To Burn, from what ive heard out of the two released tracks.

also finally got around to '68, sweet as hell, as expected from Mr. Josh Scogin himself

'68 actually just announced that they're supporting Anberlin on their last four shows, which is awesome because I'm going to one. It'll be Anberlin's second to last show ever.

Dear God that sounded creepy, forgive me.

There's a Toronto date for November 18th and tickets are still available, are you near there?

Traced In Air is really good too.

Been digging Decapitated. Don't normally like tech-death but they're pretty rad.

ill check out Traced In Air too, never liked Decapitated though

Not normally into hardcore but that ETID song is pretty good.

figured youd dig them, The Big Dirty and Ex Lives are probably my fave by them, but their newest album is pretty sick too

I do like Death.

Also, I actually like In Flames' newer stuff, but the newest album just seems kind of weak.

Edit: Actually, I just didn't like the one song I've heard, (Rusted Nail)

This is pretty good.

Just not metal by any stretch, which is fine. Kind of similar to Muse.

i hate Muse, so i guess thats why im not a fan of the new album, i like the newer stuff as well, but their newest release is really bland to me

Totally agree on the new album, very weak.

I just ordered alternate artwork digipak versions of Reroute to Remain and Soundtrack to Your Escape, totally stoked to get those.

Reroute to Remain is my favorite In Flames album, Soundtrack to Your Escape is great too

Alternate artwork is sick, it's a German exclusive digipak.

Soundtrack to Your Escape digipak is cool too. Comes with the bonus track "Discover Me Like Emptiness", which I actually think is a better closer than "Bottled" was originally.

love the cover for Reroute to Remain, the cover for Soundtrack to Your Escape is a bit unimpressive but still good

never was much of a fan of these guys, but this EP was pretty solid and enjoyable

well since a friend of mine on last.fm told me that the newer Cynic stuff is lighter i decided to try out Traced In Air and their new album, i enjoyed both a lot, but i liked Traced In Air better, i still cant stand Focus for even a second though.

The Soundtrack to Your Escape art is only for the digipak cover, it still comes with the booklet that features the original art, so that's cool. Not a fan of Hands Like Houses =/

As for Cynic, Traced In Air is awesome but I really don't like the new album at all. Not that I was expecting Traced in Air II, but it just felt really watered down by comparison, and the riffs felt pretty bland. Too bad you can't get into Focus, I like it just as much if not more than Traced In Air

I bought a couple of Gorguts albums today.

i will agree that the new album is a bit underwhelming, but i still find it a nice listen, i was never too big on Hands Like Houses, i thought their stuff was decent, though the new EP has really blown me away, and might change my opinion on the band.

i really cant stand Focus one bit at all, its like they wanted to throw every idea they had in each song and it just comes out as some busy mess of a bunch or random ideas, i appreciate the technicality, creativity and influence, but holy funk is it ever annoying structure-wise, plus throwing on a Death/Thrash Metal sound ontop of it really doesnt help one bit at all.

also i never became a fan of Gorguts, sadly

I'm sad that you don't like Focus because I like it so much but I guess you can't win them all!

I'm digging a lot of older tech/prog death metal, so much more personality than the stuff that comes out today.
