Did Sleepwave release an album? I haven't heard anything about it, I'll have to look into it. Also La Quite is pretty cool, Glassjaw is awesome, and I'll check out Stolas.

Broken Compass hasnt released yet but the full album stream is up on YouTube and you can download a leaked version somewhere too

 

Stolas are like Dance Gavin Dance and The Fall of Troy put together, also yes Glassjaw are awesome everyone knows that.

Been digging a lot of Death lately, their last four albums to be specific. Definitely prefer the prog-laced death metal compared the the early stuff.

i dont really care for their stuff but the last four albums were definitely not too bad and more likable than their previous stuff

 

the only Death Metal band that i really seem to dig hard is Between the Buried and Me

I don't really like the early stuff too much, too straightforward and kind of boring. I love the last four though. 

 

I don't dig BTBAM like I used to, the only one I really enjoy anymore is The Silent Circus. 

 

Definitely think you could get into this Moog.

ive tried some other stuff by Voivod but i could never get into any of it, though this album has definitely changed my mind on them and i probably will get around to the rest of their discography sometime

 

i cant stand the early Death albums but i dont mind their last four albums too much, ill give them another try and see if i like them better than i remember

Voivod has changes their sound quite a few times, I'm not finished delving into their discography myself. Phobos is awesome though, love how distant and noisy it is.

 

Someone posted this on Sputnikmusic, it's a rundown of what all of their albums sound like to give you an idea of what you're getting into. 

 

[spoiler=Voivod]If you like Venom and Motorhead, listen to War And Pain and Rrroooaaarrr.

 

If you like thrash and its prog leanings (Coroner, Mekong Delta etc) listen to Killing Technology and Dimension Hatross.

 

If you are a prog rock fan, listen to Nothingface, Angel Rat and The Outer Limits.

 

If you like industrial-influenced extreme/noise metal, listen to Negatron and Phobos, especially Phobos.

 

And if you like good rock/metal music in general, listen everything from Voivod and forth.

 

 

 

And that sucks about the show Moog =(

that rundown was helpful, definitely gonna ignore their first few albums since i normally really cant stand Thrash Metal.

 

 

ive only got two or three more years til i can start going to bars which will be great since 90% of the time a band comes in around my area, its at a bar

I would still give Killing Technology and Dimension Hatross a go, they are thrash but with hardcore punk and prog influence. I'm not huge on thrash myself but those albums are very good.

i meant albums like War and Pain and Rrroooaarrrr that are straight-up Thrash, i will give the more proggy Thrash albums another try, but i didnt like them when i first heard them, so i dont know how ill feel going through them a second time around

im not really into any of that sort of stuff though i did enjoy KoRN and Limp Bizkit a lot when i was around 10 or 12, but welcome aboard, take some time to see if you dig any of the stuff weve posted or anything other people have posted

Hey, welcome aboard. Moog (Kuromi) and I are the only ones who are really active in the thread with some others popping in occasionally. Also, let it be said that my music taste has changed a lot from when I started the thread four years ago.

 

I can't say I'm a fan of the groups you mentioned, but here are a couple of groups that I think you might enjoy based off of the things you said you like:

 

 

 

That Alkaline Trio song was pretty good Moog, I'd never listened to them before. For some reason I feel like it's not their best though.

that was one of my favorite songs by them. Alkaline Trio are definitely worth going through a few times, though their more recent albums are more accessible sounding they still manage to be a great band. Maybe Ill Catch Fire will always stand out as their best album for me

So I bought that one Job for a Cowboy record. Been getting more into heavier stuff.

 

Good album, not really into the soedgywow lyrics though.

i cant really stand any Deathcore (except for The Silent Circus by BtBaM), but its nice to see youre expanding out a bit

 

since youre willing to try out stuff thats turned up a few notches, hows this?

That's the thing, I got their second album and while it certainly has deathcore elements it seems to be verging closer to straight death metal.

im still not a fan of straight up Death Metal, the closest i can come to that is Between the Buried and Me and Deaths last four albums.

 

Post-Hardcore, Metalcore/Mathcore, Punk and sometimes Grindcore are more up my alley

ive tried and tried to get into them, but i just cant, i find them to be really annoying, which sucks because theyre amazingly talented musicians and theyre highly influential

 

Aww that's too bad. I love them but unfortunately, the new album isn't very good. I'm also sad to say that the new In Flames album is pretty bad as well. 

 

Also forgot to mention that I like your avi, Skullgirls is pretty rad.

ill try Cynic a few more times, sometimes it takes me a really long time before i can finally get into a band (like Deafheaven and Underoath), and yeah the newest In Flames was awful from the very few tracks i heard out of it, the biggest dissapointment of this year is still the new Darkest Hour album.

Ya Cynic is definitely an acquired taste, but especially rewarding in my opinion. It's too bad about the In Flames album because I love everything they've done up until now. I haven't really been interested in listening to the new Darkest Hour but I guess I don't have to if it sucks. 

 

I'l listen to that Finch song later because I'm about to go to work, I dug the last one.
