Admitting defeat to Deafhaven is nothing to be embarrass about, they're just awesome! Haha.. Although, I don't know what you mean by happy though. Their instrumental might sound warm and fuzzy/atmospherically dreamy but the lyrics are really grim-dark and bleak.

True!  I just meant major key in general.

Although now that you mention I want to write some death metal that is not only major key but really fun sounding.  I don't know if it will work but I'll try.

Wait until you hear White Tomb, that album is 10x more epic, though their last album was epic too

I'm not sure how it will hold up compared to Teethed Glory and Injury because I'm loving this album so much, but I'm definitely give it a listen along with Mammal. I might just buy them right now.

All three of those albums are damn great and are definitely worth buying

I just bought the most recent albums of Battlecross, Dillinger Escape Plan and Black Dahlia Murder.   On that note...

What'd you think of Dillinger? One of Us Is the Killer is probably my least favorite from them, but it's a great starting point if you're just getting into the band.

Can't say as I haven't really given it a good listen yet.  (The physical CD won't even arrive until tomorrow.)

I love the title track, and the one other song I've listened to is Prancer, which is alright.

Ah, so you ordered it. I buy a lot of CDs that way because they're often cheaper, and usually hard to find otherwise.

Actually I got it on Amazon so buying the CD also gives you the MP3's so as of now I have listened to the whole thing.  I like it, but it's kind of hard to formulate a more detailed thought about it, considering the technicality of the music.

I'm sure it'll sink in with a few more listens. I think it's generally their easiest album one to get into, either that or Option Paralysis.

Ire Works would probably be their worst album in my opinion. Some good songs but mostly a rehash of Miss Machine. But you're right though, One of Us is the killer is a very accessible enough record to start with when trying to get into this band.

Never heard of The Darkest Hours so I'll look into them, and yeah RX Bandits are killer.

The shared some members with City Of Caterpillar and PG.99 so you know they're not run of the mill metal band.

Guess I'm in the minority but I really like Ire Works, I think the weird electronic interludes work very well within the band's general aesthetic and themes.

All of their albums are excellent though. Calculating Infinity is definitely the classic in my opinion but I find myself listening to Option Paralysis the most.

I think the reason One of Us Is the Killer is my least favorite is because it fails to bring anything new to the table (in my humble opinion). Not to say that more of the same from Dillinger is a bad thing, but the songs don't stick out to me quite as much as some of the ones from previous albums.

I like it too, but it just doesnt stick out as much as their other stuff does in terms of enjoyability

A friend of mine linked me to this, holy hell this is probably the worst thing ive heard in a while

Holy mother of...

It's odd, there are a few passages that, completely out of context, don't actually sound that bad, but the whole song is just terrible.  A complete mess of the most generic deathcore nonsense one could write.

I'm not even giving that first link the time of day.

Deftones rule though. Also bought this today:

I used to listen to blindside a lot before i went on my ambient craze, i should start listening to them again

There were a few okay spots, mostly that nice ambient-ish intro, but honestly it just sounds like a deathcore band trying to do TDEP but ultimately failing at it

I adore the hell out of these guys
