I have all of them except Cryonics, last time I ordered it it was wrong. As in, the art and liner notes were correct but the CD in the case was the wrong one. I was sad :(

Terrifyer is a classic grindcore album.

Terrifyer is a classic grindcore album. Still prefer Prowler In The Yard but Terrifyer is a close second. I dont really like Death Metal, though I do like Septic Flesh and a couple of Grindcore/Crust Punk bands.

Dismal Euphony
I'm admittedly a huge black metal fan, but it doesn't anger me when someone listens to Sunbather. What angers me is when someone uses Deafheaven and a more "pure" black metal band (and by pure, I mean black metal with minimal to no outside influence) in the same breath, insinuating that they're of the same genre. I can't speak for all "elitists", but for me, the fact that people call Deafheaven black metal is not only absurd, but ignorant. Deafheaven's shoegaze and post-rock (and maybe even some screamo) elements completely dominate their black metal influence, and the fact that so many people refuse to recognize that is what tends to get underneath my skin. And, if you ask me, being knowledgeable on outside genres and influences doesn't make you an elitist. Anyone who claims to be a fan of music, but refuses to submerge themselves in sub-genres and their history is ignorant. THAT is what bothers me. I couldn't care less about it being "hipster black metal." Just a random song that I enjoy, lol.

Still love the band though Also Wyvle and Iodine were both badass as hell, sick stuff

Regardless, Deafheaven is still enjoyable. And I'm glad you liked the tracks! I figured Iodine would be more well-received than Wylve.

Still love the band though I think hipsters like to use Deafheaven as a way to say they like black metal, and I can understand you not liking Sunbather because of how heavily it draws from those other influences. It's definitely a far cry from "trve" black metal, though I can easily see them being mentioned alongside groups like Bosse-de-nage and Wolves In the Throne Room. Genres aside, I'm certain Sunbather will go down as a classic metal album because of how fresh a sound it has and all the acclaim it's received, deserved acclaim in my opinion. It's probably my 2013 best.
