Video Game Recommendations

Phantom Roxas

Recommended Posts

So I was making a thread, and decided that it would be easier to have a thread where we talk about games we're considering and would like recommendations. Alternatively, you can ask "I want a new game like this, anyone got any ideas?"

Anyway, the Mega Man Zero Collection came out in June, and I think that Star Force was a bad start for me and the Mega Man franchise, since I never played a Mega Man game before then. I played a copy of ZX Advent my friend hand, and it was fun, but I was wondering if I should try out the collection of the GBA games first. I heard the series as a whole is better than Star Force, so would anyone recommend it as a good Mega Man series?

I never played the Starforce Series or watched any videos of them, but I recommend that you should try 3 more different games in the series. That way, you can make a final judgement about that particular series and declare if they are good or bad.

Also, my mom is planning to buy a Wii for Christmas, and there are many good titles for the Wii being released around the holidays. I was wondering what should I get.

Can't comment on Mega Man, never played any of those...

But for the Wii "problem": Is it your mom that plays the games, or would that be you? :P Either way, I don't think you could go any wrong with "Disney's Epic Mickey", that should be released later this month. It has a major hit potential imo, and if I had a Wii, I would so totally buy it. Or "Kirby's Epic Yarn, that is already released: It has a beatiful artstyle, lovely and detailed gamedesign and solid gameplay too (I had the chance to test it once), definitely a must-buy for anybody who owns a Wii, at least in my opinion.
If you're going for the more "mature" style of gameplay, "Metroid Other M" could proove to be the game you want to buy.
Other games you might want to do a research on: "Donkey Kong Country Returns" (I loved the first one on the SNES, and this one seems to be pretty similar) or... hmm, sorry, running out of ideas, but I think that should be enough anyway, depends on your preferences ;)

As for me: I think about buying "BlazBlue: Continuum Shift" as soon as it comes out in europe (later this month I think). Though I heard it was pretty difficult to get in, and 2D Fighting is usually not my style (I'm more the Tekken/Soul Calibur kinda guy), I'm still sold to the art of the game, and of course fighting games in general... so yeah, can anybody who owns this or the precursor give me an advice?

If you're a Mario fan, get Super Mario Galaxy 1&2. Maybe even New Super Mario Bros Wii.

Get Super Smash Bros. Brawl too.

I have New Super Mario Bros. Wii already (ever since Feb. 6). I want to get Brawl and SMG1 again (Stolen), and SMG2 as well. Sonic Colors seems like an excellent Wii game as well as DKCR.

Woops, didn't know you've had a Wii before.

There are four PS3 games I'm consider: Resonance of Fate, Infamous, Red Dead Redemption, and Castlevania: Lords of Shadow. Any suggestions on which one I should get first?
Well... if you would ask me: Resonance of Fate ;)
A great RPG, with a nicely designed world and even nicer characters, a great sense of humour, deep atmosphere and an intense fighting system. The only thing it lacks is a well-rounded story that puts the pieces together... but it's a japanese RPG, what do you expect
The others are just not my genre, can't say anything about them... Red Dead Redemption is a GTA clone, Castlevania a God of War clone and Infamous... clones a bit of everything I guess  But I'm biased, I hate GTA and God of War, so don't trust me :P

Glad I could get your recommendation of Resonance of Fate. I was rather worried about the story, but I suppose characters and humor make up for it.

How can Castlevania be a God of War clone when Castlevania was around before God of War was even conceived?

I played Prototype and liked it, and Infamous is by Sucker Punch, plus I like how the author describes it as a choice between being Lightning Jesus and Lightning Hitler.

call of duty blac ops [/thread]

Ok now that thats over with I seriously recomend the game Finecal Fantasy VII Crisis Core for the psp. The game has an incredible graphics, good storyline, great utscenes, decent controls, customizable materia set list. And the game takes many many hours of straight game play to beat.

I'm, of course, only referring to the newest one, Lord of Shadows, which plays like God of War, from the reviews I read and watched so far. Quicktime-events and a whip instead of 2 blades... yeah, that's about it. Of course the setting is vastly different, as are the story and characters, but from a gameplay-perspective, it's nearly one and the same.

I beat Star Force 1: Pegasus twice over, and I have Zerker X Ninja, but I haven't played it in months.

I'd recomend them in this order: InFamous, RDR, Castlevania (I don't know about Resonance of Fate)
And I liked the Battle Network series the most.

If you want Megaman any of the classic or x games. Most of them are really good. They also should be easy to get since they have collections for both on the PS2.

Only have a Wii so I can't help with stuff out side of it, but if it was me Red Dead I've heard is a great game. Yes it's a GTA clone, but it's still a great game. Also since you already have Prototype I would put Infamous that high on the list of must have games. It's good but one of the things that I've heard time and time again is that they are a lot a like.

Also since I saw some talk of a Wii games list
New Super Mario Bros Wii
Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Zelda: Twilight Princess (Is on the GC, but that still is a Nintendo system)
Mario Kart Wii
Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn
Tatsunoko vs. Capcom
MadWorld
Mario Strikers Charged
Metroid Prime Trilogy (which is 3 different amazing games)
Super Mario Galaxy
Super Mario Galaxy 2
No More Heroes (Is out in Japan on other systems but I’m not going to count that)
No More Heroes 2
Dead Space Extraction
The Conduit
WarioWare: Smooth Moves
Wii Sports Resort
Wario Land: Shake It!
A Boy and His Blob
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10
Boom Blox
Boom Blox Bash Party
Punch-Out!!
Muramasa: The Demon Blade
de Blob
The House of the Dead: Overkill
Zack and Wiki
Super Paper Mario
Endless Ocean 2: Adventures of the Deep
Sin & Punishment: Star Successor
Metroid: Other M
Kirby’s Epic Yarn
Also I've been thinking of making an offical game recommendation thread since these are common thread type. Would you mind me stealing this thread for that?

X series - 1 to 8 (no 7 , don't play it, it sucks way too hard with all the crap camera angles ) and Command Mission
X7 is actually fairly easy, yo
The only time you have to watch out for the camera trying to kill you, is the final battle agenst Sigma.
(...And MAYBE Red, but thats kinda' pushing it)
And even then, you can just stand still and spam charged water gun on him, and he dies in like 5 seconds.
