Fusion X. Denver
Eh, I guess I hear ya Shadow. Opal closed them anyway, she only stickied RP.820 >.> I might read Death Note, and Bakuman is good, 25 chapters in so far.
DL
Speaking of, I gotta catch up on Bakuman. it's amazing how they manage to make such tension, considering it's not even an action manga. But I suppose that was to be expected of the genius duo behind Death Note.
Fusion X. Denver
Wait, the writers of Death Note wrote Bakuman? And wait, TWO people wrote Death Note .-.
.Requiem
Actually it was three people who wrote, well two were people and the third was a monkey. All the monkey did was slam down on the keyboard and whatever looked interesting that is what they used.
DL
@Fusion - See, Takeshi Obata did the art (he also did the art of Hikaru no Go, but that was with another writer) and Tsugumi Ohba came up with the story. And they both worked on Death Note, then Bakuman. Why did you think there were so many Death Note references in the first chapter?
Fusion X. Denver
...I didn't recognize the references because I haven't read Death Note yet :/ But he drew Hikaru no Go? Huh. I never woulda thunk it, but it makes sense.
Shadow Zero
loldeathnote So who were the writers of Death Note then? And Hikaru no Go is one of my favorite manga.
DL
@Zero - ...Takeshi Obata and Tsugumi Ohba.... @Fusion - ...the main glasses guy character said "Relax, this isn't a Death Note" in the first chapter, to the main character.....how can that be more obvious? Desu the Blue Nerd
Wow, now I really want to check out Bakuman. MUST GET OFF LAZY NOW 15 YEAR OLD ASS!
DL
It's freakin epic XDD In fact, I don't know whether I'd say it was better than Death Note, but certainly its equal.

Fusion X. Denver
Nice, a new member! I'm 35 chapters in for Bakuman, I'm liking it. It's still an ongoing series right? I remember Mangastream was running it until they decided to drop it.
Fusion X. Denver
Eh, no posts in a day? Understandable since activity levels on YCM was low for the day. For anyone who cares, I'm 70 chapters into Bakuman. It just occurred to me that it takes me longer to read a chapter of it than the usual rate for other manga... But anyway, I think it would be wise to move onto Death Note after this, especially if it's the same author(s). And just wondering, have any of you read Sand Land or Hunter X Hunter? The reason I'm asking is that I'm beginning to develop a curiosity for different stories by the same authors, since I love DBZ and Yuyu Hakusho. I guess I can thank Bakuman for bringing out the huge mangatard in me, lol.
DL
@Fusion - Rofl Well, HunterxHunter...I heard was good, not sure about Sand Land, but I'd check HxH first, it's more popular, I think. (after all the others in the list, of course) Also, yes Bakuman is still going, in fact, I have need to catch up, it's around 100 chapters so far, and I've been slacking off in the last couple of releases. As well as Negima....oh god, how I need to catch up on that.... ._. BTW, Fusion, yes, read Death Note after. And, you'll catch up to Bakuman in no time, if you're that far already <3 @Marisa-sama - Yay <3 You joined~ <
Fusion X. Denver
Well, I finished catching up on Bakuman. Just wish MS would pick it up again for HQ scans .-. I'm on chapter 4 in Death Note, it's pretty interesting. It's easier to get through the chapters than it was for Bakuman, so it should be easier for me to finish. And let me check if I remember my list properly (not in order): Negima 20th Century Boys Soul Eater Hunter X Hunter (maybe) Sand Land (maybe) Was there anything else DL? Shadow Zero
You forgot Code Geass Nightmare of Nunnally and Code Geass Shikkoku no Renya!
Fusion X. Denver
Oh right, I read those, but I think the site didn't have enough of the chapters? But sure, I could do those. Did they come before or after the anime?

For now, I'm reading Death Note, it's an interesting read.
Shadow Zero
I've heard of Hunter X Hunter, but not the sand one. And Fusion, one is an alternate version, the other is R3. Read them both immediately after reading Death Note, preferably with Nightmare of Nunnally being the first one that you read.
Fusion X. Denver
Is that one R3? And is R3 being made into an anime? And does anyone know why Bakuman is called Bakuman? I didn't get it .__.
Shadow Zero
idgi either Fusion. As to R3, the Renya one is R3, and it is going to be made into an anime. Nightmare of Nunnally is definitely worth the read though, and should be your next one after Death Note.
DL
Fusion, those Code geass spin-offs can wait after you get through, in order of priority: Azumanga Daioh (after Death Note, this is it) Negima Soul Eater 20th Century Boys (as well as the 16-chapter wrap-up, 21st century boys) HunterxHunter Don't read Sand Land, it's not that vital. Oh, but Black Cat is. So add Black Cat after HunterxHunter. (might wanna watch the anime for Black Cat, I heard it was better.) And...no, i don't know why it's called Bakuman ._. but baku means command esteem, win acclaim, gain, receive and man means ten thousand... Um...IDK, I guess it can kinda make sense? Shadow Zero
So many meanings for one small word. Those japanese. lol *whacks DL on the head* Shikokku no Renya is NOT a spinoff. It is R3 of Code Geass, and a must! D:<
