Smesh Vs. Fading Black, Zombie Faceoff

Smesh

Recommended Posts

First to post is opponent. The requirement is to make a Zombie monster. It doesn't have to support Zombies, or follow any special requirement, besides being a Zombie.

First to 3 wins, winner gets a rep.

Card A:

You can Special Summon this card from your hand when a Zombie-type monster is Special Summoned from the Graveyard. If you do, this card cannot be used as a Synchro Material Monster until your next Stanby Phase.

Card B:

If the monsters used as Tributes for this card were Zombie-Type monsters, Special Summon them to your side of the field. Their effects are negated and they cannot attack. As long as this card is on the field, each time a Zombie-Type monster is destroyed, you can add 1 Level 2 or lower Zombie-Type monster from your Deck to your hand.

My vote is for Card B.

My reasons for not picking A: It can get special summoned when another zombie is. That's a typical and generally good sort of thing for a zombie deck. But if it's special summoned it can't be used for synchro summoning for a turn. That wouldn't be a problem but it's got no ATK and no DEF. That makes it a liability until the next turn when hopefully if you kept it alive you can then synchro summon. Though honestly I think there are better tuners that can be used the first turn they're out that save your spells and traps for more dangerous situations. Now it's true if it's simply normal summoned you can use it that turn but that means no one would want to make use of it's effect.

In the end, it's got an interesting concept but it's stats make it too much of a liability.

My reasons for picking B: In a zombie deck this thing is just wonderful. It's powerful and that's important to zombie decks that mainly swarm and beatdown. The tributes, again if in a zombie deck, don't go away and can be used again for other tributes. So outside a zombie deck it doesn't do much but inside a zombie deck it would be quite nice.

In summary: A's stats make it hard to make use of without sacrificing spells/traps while B has an effect that supports zombies very nicely.

On a side-note: I love the pics for both cards.

Hmm, too bad I already know which card belongs to which player. Oh well, I shall stick with your anonymity. Besides, this is a confrontation worth witnessing.

Anyway, Card A seems UP'd to me actually. It would be awesome if it hand another effect, something small but helpful because as it is it may or may not make it to do a Synchro...it is about a 50/50 chance.

Card B seems perhaps OP'd, because in theory I could easily sacrifice two monsters, bring them right back and then use them to Synchro Summon something else (which is what I bet you were going for). This is probably the one that needed the Synchro restriction during the turn it was Special Summoned. Plus, you keep getting Tribute/Synchro fodder after each destruction...well, I suppose that's balanced enough. If it were to your field I would say no, but to your hand is alright.

Anyway, I vote Card B, because it seems more useful/playable to me. That's pretty much it, good job guys.

Smesh? What happened to your 1 on 1 ability? :(

I vote for Fading Black's cause it is more interesting, and yours has a little OCG errors. Although Black's has a little errors, it's at least more better. Plus, if they were used in decks, Black's would be more useful. This could provide Synchro material monsters, but it's more interesting I guess, as with the picture. So Black gets my vote.

Card B. Better effect, more creative, better pic in my mind, and because card A is too... bland.

Because this is giving actual info, which is what I specifically said is needed, right?

Also, Simple =/= ineffective.

Good match, Smesh. Next time.... no Zombies @_@
