Pokemon Ruby/Saphire/Emerald- Can't complete pokedex without trading.
That's how it's been since the first one...

I'd say the bigger problem would be you couldn't complete the Pokedex (the full 300+) for about 2 or 3 years after the game was released without a cheating device, and even then they required ludicrous extra games and extra systems. You needed to also have a GameCube and Pokemon Colosseum or whatever to get a few monsters from Johto. You'd need XD to get Lugia. You needed FRLG to get Kanto Pokemon, and to get (just one) Johto starter you had to complete the entire Kanto dex.

It was much, much too much work for completionists. Not to mention Third Gen sucked overall. There were only 6 Fire Pokemon in the entire game, and 3 of them were the Starter and it's Evo. (The other two were Torkoal and Slugma+Magcargo)

Sometimes, I'm curious to what is actually going through your people's heads when you say a RPG has a bad plot. Seriously? SRSLY? I can't believe you'd expect a Uncharted plot out of a RPG. RPGs are ment to have generic plot with generic Japanese hero... Well atleast JRPGs are supposed to have that.

My biggest VGD is... Fable 2. Loved the first one. The second, I couldn't really get a good grasp on it... Dunno why.
Or it's YuGiOh GX The Beginning of Destiny.
OR, Assassin's Creed.

Actually, it averaged about 6-8, depending on if you counted the previous Pokemon from the previous Generation.
All of the Generations averaged 8-12, not counting the previous Gen. So it's not that different.
And if you didn't count the previous Gen, than Slugma and Magcargo wouldn't count since they were there since
Kanto or Johto or Both.

Eh, 5 fire Pokes who weren't the starter and it's evos. Eight new fire Pokemon overall. There were 10 new legendaries. (Weather Trio, Regis, Lati@s, Deoxys and Jirachi)

There are too many damn Water Pokemon, and third Gen had too many water sections.

Glad to know that someone else thought that too. They make too many water pokemon and neglect fire and electric.

Monster Hunter Freedom Unite is hella disappointing sometimes...and frustrating
then...I hate any game that involves tedious and boring grinding
Haha, no.

Tri is more of a disappointment.

"Hey lets add water combat."

"Okay cool."

"But also remove the Felyne system and 97% of the monsters. Let's remake Rathalos, Rathian, and Diablos but not add in Monoblos at all even though the Wii can hold more memory than the PsP."

"...What."

"Oh and remove Gunlance, Dual Swords, and Bow weapons. No one cares about them."

I'll admit, they made much better 'dromes'. But that's about it.

4th was worse. 3rd at least had Camerupt where the 4th only had the starter and ponyta.

While Hoenn did have too much water, I don't think third gen was a letdown. Guess it helped I started third gen (not counting FireRed) with Emerald, which I clocked more hours into compared to any other pokemon game.

But it's not about how much I loved Emerald's Battle Frontier. This topic is about disappointments. And for that, I'll give this one to Final Fantasy 13.

I liked most things about the game... but I could not finish it. It eventually got to a point where every battle felt like a boss battle due to their sheer length. I mean, I like my normal encounters to have more meat to them than just pressing 'attack' over and over. Hell, I play some games where the normal encounters can kill you if you slack off. It just doesn't take them 10 minutes for them to do so.

So there are 10 encounters in a room. You fight them all, because there's delicious treasure to be had. Each encounter takes anywhere from 1 to 6 minutes to finish... most of them sitting around 3-4 minutes long. And in most of them, you're in no danger of dying.

...So you don't clear the room until more than an hour has passed, engaging in wearily similar fights.

...I could not play that game anymore.

On-topic: To add to my disappointment of KH2, the nonsensical plot, the 2 hour tutorial with Roxas, the downright broken Drive System, the boring and uninspired worlds, it was all just so damn terrible compared to the fun of the first Kingdom Hearts.
My only argument is the plot. These guys wants to build Kingdom Hearts to become whole, and you got to step them because they're evil and want to take over the universe and stuff. Rather simple, really.

I hate to jump the gun on this one, but PlayStation Move Heroes is looking like it's going to be a massive disappointment. Finally, Ratchet, Clank, Jak, Daxter, Sly Cooper, and Bentley are all going to team up! This should be awesome, right? Well, I don't think so, since it's basically being reduced to a party game a la Mario Party, and the very fact that it's a crossover is basically ignored because you can't have dream team ups like Ratchet teaming up with Jak or Sly or Clank teaming up with Daxter or Bentley, or whatever team up you can think of for the game. It takes the dream team-up everyone wanted, and turns it into a pile of wasted potential.

[nitpicking]Plus "Heroes on the Move" was a better title than "PlayStation Move Heroes". Sure, it still advertised it was for the Move, but did so in a clever way. The current title is just lazy and far too blatant.[/nitpicking]

You must be blind, or you're not really a Pokemon fan. When did the appearance of characters in video games become important?

I haven't really been disappointed in the video games I've bought.
Woah long time since i said this
Well, its just my personal preference, I rather not look at something ugly while I use it for the entirety of the game

Im not necessarily a pokemon fan so whatever, I must be blind then.
Seriously some of the Pokemon make my eyes sore, that plus I have a high sense of beauty (yes, ill call it that)

This post made my day.

The GBC version is the original. xD
WTF you talkin' about? The NES is the first system to come out. And I have the original super mario bros for the nes. Of course you fight bowser on world -4. The nes was a primitive understanding of the first video games ever created, and the gameboy copied the nes version.

Letdowns:

Jak and daxter: the lost frontier. It is a fun game, and im glad they made another game with the eco, but the graphics look like they belong in a n64 star fox game. Pretty crappy graphics for a game like this.

Megaman x command mission: It was a really fun game, but the plot was too short. If you knew what you were doing, and didnt waste time, you could beat it in an hour or two.

Jak 3: Sure you could go to the desert and all, but Haven city was a let down. First of all, half to 3/4 of the city was destroyed, and the crimson guards didnt have special vehicles anymore. Not to mention the crimson guards were blue instead of red. Great game over all, though.
