"Alright, Akarui! I'll see you there then. I need to prepare a bit before the launch. You should too. You'll need it, considering how many duelists are gonna be there." Strata said. Strata waved good-bye, and walked over to the shelter entrance. "Alright, you guys, I have to prepare for the tournament. I know you'll miss me, but I won't be gone for too long. Remember that if you really need me, then I'll be there. But I don't think that you will. You've survived this far without any help, right?" Strata said encouragingly to the orphans as they walked back into the shelter.

-MEANWHILE-

Sven watched as the holograms faded, and Kirin rode off. "Hmph. He deliberately lost... So he's a Signer as well, if he uses Black Rose Dragon. Well, his personality could become useful to us, in due time..." Sven thought. He pulled out his sword after stopping his D-Wheel, and cut a rift into space with it. He pushed his D-Wheel through, then went in himself.

Max's eyes once again widened with surprise. "Wh-what the? Absorbing synchros?!" Max said as he watched his Revolution Warrior being slowly dragged towards Machine Emperor Wisel Infinity. "(I can't activate my face-down, if I do he'll be able to win the battle if he attacks my Revolution Synchron with his Wisel.... but.... I don't know what kind of powers Wisel might get after absorbing my Revolution Warrior.... I may just be done for now.... I guess there's only one thing to do....)" Max thought to himself as he watched as Revolution Warrior was dragged into Wisel Infinity. Just then, Wisel's ATK rose by 2600 points, causing Max's eyes to windened with disbelief. "N-no way.... That means, I lose.... All he needs to do now is attack my Max Warrior and I'm done for.... So this is the power.... of Wisel...." Max said to himself still in shock at Wisel's might.

Ven was taken aback when Max did nothing but watch as his Synchro monster was dragged into Wisel's chest, becoming absorbed without a trace. "What? Why wouldn't you..." he sputtered for a moment, but regained his composure. "Fine, then lose. Wisel Infinity's effect! Its ATK increases by the ATK of the absorbed Synchro monster. Revolution Warrior had 2600 ATK, so Wisel gains 2600 ATK points!"

Meko heard the breaks of a duel runner on the other side of the building as he reached the other side of the roof he spotted a duel runner it rider with on helmet on at the moment and a man a few yards away. "Sorry but I do not wish to duel you sir." The man said to the Rider. "This is my chance." Meko thought to himself. "I'll duel you if you get me a duel runner!" Meko shouted as he jumped off the roof and landed on the fire eascape and then on the ground. "So What do you say? If you denie my challenge I beet your head in and use your skull as my helmet and take your runner."

"I'm hurt. Taking pity on me. Unless you expected me to be ready for an attack. Either way, I draw!" Maldito said, drawing from his duel coat. "And I summon the Mystic Tomato! Being a DARK monster, he gains the boon of Mystic Plasma Zone(ATK1900/DEF700)." 'I need to get in through her monsters soon, otherwise I'm done. Still, her Stygian is too strong for me yet.' "Mystic Tomato, attack the Skyblaster Token!" The tomato rushed for the monster. "You'll find I'm far from done!"

After Max Warrior was attacked by Wisel Infinity, Max's LP dropped to zero, and his duel board stopped. After getting off, Max picked up his duel board and walked over to Ven. "Hehehe, that was one good duel. Thanks Ven. Your Wisel Infinity is sure something powerful. I've never seen such cards before. If you're wondering about why I didn't activate my face-down it's because you would've won either way. I didn't know that Wisel's ATK would increased when it absorbed Revolution Warrior so that's why I didn't want to activate Synchro Out. And even if I activate it, well if you use Wisel to attack Revolution Synchron, I would be done for anyways. Either way I was done for.... But thanks to this duel, I'll now have more motivation to become a better duelist, so I'm kinda glad I lost." Max explained with a smile.

(Your LP is 2500 from when Sergeants attacked Diabolos, and you should have no hand after playing Tomato, due to Setting the card in hand w/ Dust Tornado)

The Skyblaster token vainly tried to counter attack against the Tomato, breaking into pixels. Lily merely smiled. "Nice attack," she noted. Her eyes paused on his facedown card, which was the only card he had in play so far that she did not know the identity of. He had set it with Dust Tornado for a reason, she was sure of it. It wasn't able to be used the turn he had set it, but it could be used now, and if it was a Spell or Trap he could use during his turn, he probably intended to use it soon.

LP: 4900

"Is there anything else you've got planned for this turn, or should I take my turn?" she asked, moving her hand towards her deck.

Ven smiled. "I may just be forgetting a condition or catch to Synchro Out, but couldn't you summon the Synchro Materials in Defense Position?" he asked casually. He retrieved his cards from his disk before deactivating it, the field folding back up into its wrist-mounted device. He extracted Revolution Warrior from his S/T zone and tossed it back to its owner. He didn't have any need for that card and the duel hadn't been a serious game, anyway, even if he had used his Machine Emperor.

As he returned the deck to its box, he said, "Unless you bind yourself to the path of improvement and go beyond yourself, until it becomes all that matters. Then your improvement would become naught but self-destruction. But I digress, you have proved yourself a strong opponent."

Max gave a light chuckle to Ven. "Hehe, you got me. True that I can summon them in defense position, but I think it's better this way. Afterall, I learned a lot from that duel we just had now. Besides, I doubt that I could've defeate you later on anyways. That Wisel Infinity of yours sure is powerful. Umm, if you don't mind me asking, how did you even get a hold of such power cards like that? I'm just curious, and feel free to don't answer if you don't want me to know. (I sure have a lot I need to improve on, and I'll need to find a way to defeat that monster if later I ever duel him again....)" Max thought to himself with confidence.

"Perhaps not," Ven agreed, considering the cards he had held in his hand at the time. "But you did well, don't get me wrong." Had he not tried to Synchro Summon at all, he would have won. It's true that Synchro monsters have become such a dependency that some hinder their own accomplishments with them.

He paused for a moment at the question, but decided to answer somewhat truthfully. "They're exclusive cards, not permitted to just anyone. Only exceptional talents can wield them with even an ounce of efficiency. I caught you off-guard, but that does not mean I would lose the next time, either." He said all this with reservation, and extended his left hand in the offer of a handshake.

"Exclusive cards?...." Max slightly muttered. "Man, you sure are something Ven...." Max lightly joked. "Hehe, I don't plan on losing the next time either Ven. I'll figure out a way to defeat that monster of yours, but in all seriousness, that was a really fun duel. Thank you." Max said as he reached out and shook Ven's hand. "Oops I almost forgot, I need to go home and get prepared for tommorow. I'll see ya later, and who knows, maybe we might just end up dueling in the tournament later on! See ya!" Max said as he got onto his duel board and speed off towards his house.

"My, my Ven.... Did you enjoy yourself during that duel?...." a voice came from behind Ven. It was the cloaked figure (Rasgo) who was behind Ven. "I was watching you dueling from afar. Nicely played.... I hope you enjoyed yourself Ven.... As for me, I had fun watching that duel.... It took my mind off of things for awhile.... But make sure to be discreet about details.... We don't want others to take attention to us now do we?...."

Ven watched Max leave, turning at the sound of his name. "It was worth the risk, Rasgo," he said, with a vaguely dismissive air. "If he was important, the duel would prove that, and then we'd be a step ahead of the game. If he was a nobody, then it wouldn't matter, would it?" He turned back and glanced down the road that Max had disappeared down.

"Besides...I got an idea of which side of the spectrum he's on," he said vaguely. He pulled the hood of his cloak over his head and turned back to Rasgo. "So, we go and wait for tomorrow, then? That's when the real work begins. If all the Signers are to gather there, we best have a number of suspects, if not confirmed, to have a lead on. What have you found?"

Seriph looked at him confused, hes has never been threatened in very long time. Seriph pulled out a duel disk, "Please forgive me, I rather despise unnecessary multi-tasking." He placed the disk on his wrist and the bracer locked around his arm. "You know using my tournament deck would reveal some details I best keep in check." He withdrew the second deck from his belt and placed it in the proper slot. "Just a bit of generosity you say you lack a Duel Runner, unfortunately I can't obtain a second soon. However I can loan you a duel disk if necessary."
The screen flashed on the disk "LP: 4000"

I'll wait until your ready, you may start.

Just then a Blimp came into view stating the tournament was to take place tomorrow, It was already almost Dusk. "Uhh, It seems I may have to postpone this duel. But live long enough in the tournament and we may follow though with this duel." Seriph lowered his duel disk. Seriph sighed. "Too bad, tah tah Mister." Seriph got back on his Runner and waved as he zoomed off away.

Sven watched Rasgo and Ven through the viewpoint. "There they are... They don't seem to have found anything useful... Might as well let them know. They'll need to." Sven thought. Sven cut through another rift to where Ven and Rasgo were. "If you want confirmation, then I have the identity of one of the Signers." Sven said as he walked through the rift. "However, he uses Black Rose Dragon, making it exceedingly difficult to capture. So, tell me. Why is it that neither of you are doing anything of importance?" Sven sighed. "We should not talk here." Sven cut another rift open. "We must talk elsewhere, before we are found. Such a fine assembly of persons is bound to draw unwanted attention. Come." Sven walked into the rift.

"Well, earlier today I went out to see what I can find. I dueled a couple of people but it seems they were nothing more than trash.... However.... I don't know if you sensed it, but.... There might just be two signers, possibly a third, nearby.... Thanks to my well-played sources.... I've gathered the names of the first two, though the third one remains undisclosed.... The first two are Akarui Fudo and Strata Rirukai. Akarui is a descendant of Yusei Fudo and Strata is a descendant of children Crow Hogan took care of.... Quite fascinating how they are in a way related to previous signers.... That person you dueled just now, Max was it?.... What do you make of him?.... Does he seem like a pest to our plans?...." Rasgo asked with curiosity.

Rasgo then saw the arrival of Sven who told them what he knows. "Black Rose Dragon hmm?.... An overgrown plant lizard challenging a God?.... We shouldn't have too much worry.... right Sven?.... And what do you mean of nothing importance?.... I have already found the identies of two signers, and possibly a third.... You give me too little credit...." Rasgo said with his signature smirk, and then walking into the rift.

Ven looked over at Sven's appearance and nodded without objection, following him into the rift. As soon as he emerged on the other end of it, he turned to Sven.

"Black Rose Dragon is not necessarily a difficult dragon to capture," he contradicted musingly. "I doubt any of us have yet adjusted our decks to capture specific monsters, like the Signer monsters. Grannel Infinity revolves around power. Skiel is defensive. Wisel is a mix of the two. Our other cards should be used to counteract our specific weaknesses, and immobilize our opponents' ace cards."

Ven chuckled. "I have already done so, but I learned a different weakness and will address it before testing my deck again."

"You tempt me, my dear." Maldito said. "But I guess I have nothing left to offer. Still, I'm on the ropes, for now. I end my turn." 'She's got spunk and skill to burn, to be sure. But I guess it's only expected.' "When you draw, my trap card activates, Drastic Drop Off. This card causes you to discard the card you just drew!" Maldito declared, revealing his trap. "I'm not letting you get too far ahead now, am I?" Maldito declared. "It's a chance move, but what else have I got? Quite frankly, I was hoping to bluff you. But I guess it didn't work."

Lily glanced at the card she had drawn, but would be forced to discard. The Spider Mark on her arm throbbed. She chuckled and turned it around just to show him the Spider Immortal, and casually placed it in the Graveyard. "I didn't need it this time, anyway," she said with a shrug. Besides, Summoning it would be too dangerous and there was nothing to gain from this duel that would make playing an enormous monster a smart choice.

"Stygian Sergeants, attack Mystic Tomato!" she announced. The fiend growled and lunged at the monster, punching it fiercely. (ATK: 2700)

She studied the situation. "Now you can Special Summon a DARK monster with 1500 ATK or less from your deck in attack position. At this time, Stygian Sergeants gains 800 ATK, and can attack again this turn. So...what will you do?" she asked. (ATK: 3500)

He has 1600 LP remaining, and Sergeants has 3500 ATK. If he Special Summons a DARK monster with 1450 or 1500 ATK, Mystic Plasma Zone will increase its ATK and reduce the damage he takes to 1500, Lily thought. But, if he doesn't Summon, or can only Summon a monster with 1400 or less ATK, and that monster cannot manipulate its ATK, the attack, or the damage, then he will lose.

"Hmph. Very well. This information will no doubt prove useful. However, now is not the time. The Circut cannot be completed in its current state. However, there is a tournent approaching, beggining tomorrow. Duelosts from around the world will be there, and it will provide sufficient Momentum to the circut to help rebuild it. We cannot let what happened last time happen again this time. We must be cautious." Sven said. "For now, we shall watch. Revealing ourselves this early will only bring unwanted attention. Remember, we were assigned this mission by God, and we must not fail. We have changed history in the past, yet only the Arc Cradle can bring about the rebirth of Neo Domino City, and the removal of the Synchro."

Rasgo turned to Ven with his signature smirk. "You have no need to worry Ven.... I've already thought about this problem beforehand, and I have reconfigured my deck with some new additions.... Though, I cannot say my deck is defeat-proof so I'll have to add in some more additions later...." Rasgo explained. Rasgo then turned towards Sven. "This tournament shall mark the end of the synchros once we complete the circuit.... Nothing will stand in our way and our glorious God shall see to it that synchro monsters will become just another part of ancient history.... Now that we know three signers plus the possibility of a forth.... Where do we find the fifth one?.... Well, no matter, the tournament should provide some insight into it...." Rasgo said.

Raven watched as the duel concluded. He then jumped down. "Nice duel guys" He said "It was intense." Raven started to walk away. "Got to go. See you tomorrow!" He said as he keeped walking. He took a path through a dark alley way and then a couple more blocks to his house. He walked into it. "I'm tired" He said to himself "I'm going to bed." He said as he walked up the stairs. He changed then fell asleep very quickly in his bed.

(Mystic Tomato had 1900. 2700-1900=800. 2500-800 is 1700: I have 1700 LP left, not 1600.)

"So it all comes down to this. There is but one card, perhaps in the world, that can save me. And it all comes down to whether or not you can destroy it. I'm sure by now you've analyzed my style. I favor a beat-down style of strong monsters that I can Special Summon. So now, I can Special Summon. But I have only one card in my deck with the power to defend me, and it's also the card in my deck with the least strength." Maldito smiled. "And without anymore fanfare, I summon Yubel!" A half-human and half-demon monster appeared. "Yubel has but, thanks to Mystic Plasma Zone, 500 ATK points and 0 DEF points. Will you attack?"

"That was the intended plan, was it not?" Ven mused, sitting down leisurely. "To scope for potential Signers or people of interest. To have found three, and likely a fourth, so early in the game...well, all the benefit to us. He circled a finger on the arm of his seat. "The fifth...well, they'll all show up in time. To have encountered all five before the main attraction would be absurd. We must expect some sort of setback and just monitor who we have known."

He looked up. "Now, we could go about claiming Signers for our own to defeat, or we could specifically challenge those we have prepared a counterstrategy for. Do either of you know anything about the Signers' decks that you encountered? Or a strategy? For we should not rely on then performing a Synchro Summon all the time. The boy I faced would have defeated me if it weren't for performing a Synchro at the time he did. Because he tried, I shut him down and defeated him the following turn. If any of them learn too much regarding our Emperors, they may learn their weaknesses."

---

(Huh, why did I keep thinking 900? I performed that calculation like four times and always came up with 900 some how. My mistake)

This move caught Lily by surprise. "Yubel?" she repeated, squinting at the humanoid fiend with draconic wings. "Interesting tactic. I end my turn without attacking again," she said simply. She had not expected such a monster to appear, and she had very few options on hand to counter the strategy.

"I don't really consider it a setback.... rather.... a small inconvenience.... In the end.... they will perrish...." Rasgo said as he sat calmly in his seat with his smirk still visible on his face. "True that it would be idiotic to duel the signers without being prepared.... I'm assuming that none of you battled a signer yet correct? Or did you Sven?.... My attention was mainly focused on the duel between Ven and that boy earlier.... I couldn't directly see the duel between the two confirmed signers, Akarui and Strata, so I couldn't devise a strategy to counteract their dueling style.... But we have no need to worry, during the tournament, all will be reveal to us...." Rasgo explained.

"My turn. I draw." Maldito drew. After observing his card for a few moments, he announced, "I can tell you are afraid of Yubel. I admit, it is terrifying. However, it appears I can maintain such a powerful card for another turn. I set 1 monster." A face-down appeared. "And with that, I end my turn. But in order to do so, I must pay Yubel's cost. I tribute my face-down monster, Sangan, to keep Yubel on the field. Because of it, I add 1 monster with 1500 or less ATK from my Deck to my hand. The ball is in your court."

"Afraid isn't quite the word," Lily said, drawing her card. "I activate Allure of Darkness! This lets me draw two cards, but I must remove one DARK monster from my hand, else I lose my hand," she said coolly, flicking two cards into her hand. "I remove the Dark Ruler Ha Des for Allure's effect, and then activate my Pot of Avarice!"

"This Spell lets me return five monsters from my Graveyard to my deck, and then draw two new cards. So, I add Stygian Securities, Earthbound Immortal Uru, Grave Squirmer, Phantom Skyblaster, and Stygian Street Patrol from my Graveyard to my deck, shuffle, and draw!"

Her graveyard extracted the cards, and she added them to the top of her deck, pausing to let the automatic shuffler do its thing, and then pulled two cards from the deck, her brow furrowing in disappointment. "I set a monster and end my turn."
