Yu-Gi-Oh: Signers of the Stars [Started/Accepting via OOC/Co-Hosted by evilfusion]

"Heh... That's pretty interesting. You almost had me worried there. Well, seeing as how I can't damage you at all this turn, I'll lay a card face-down, and end my turn." Strata put the last card in his hand down onto the field, and his turn ended. A few of the orphans had come out to watch the duel. "Y'know, Akarui, I've upped my game as well!"

-MEANWHILE-

Sven had gone out to the city to search for other potential Signers. "Hmph. This could be difficult... M attracting too much attention to myself..." Sven said as he walked through the crowded streets. He came to where his D-Wheel was, and rode off towards the Satellite. "This was where three of them originated... Perhaps the same ones will exist here now..." Sven thought.

((evil, actually Max already has a board, I meant in my earlier post that Max was so distracted by the fact that he needs to prepare that he forgot he even brought his board along with him in the first place))

"Well that's quite true, hehe. I mean if your not wearing clothing that you're comfortable in, it would be pretty difficult to focus on the duel. Instead you would probably be focused on yourself, hehe." Max said with a delighted smile. "A duel? Well, I was actually gonna go home and prepare my things, but I guess I'll accept your challenge considering I bumped into you in my rushing state. What the heck, this'll be fun! So, how do you wanna duel? Regular or turbo?" Max asked curiously, now with his eyes showing signs of confidence. "(This guy looks like a tough duelist. I wonder what kind of cards he has?)" Max pondered to himself as he awaited a response.

Akarui drew his card.... he smirked at it "OH YEAH! THIS IS THE MOMENT WE'VE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR!" Akarui yelled "I summon Metal Snchron!" [Tuner LV3 ATK: 1400] "Now I activate his effect! I discard one card from my hand to Special Summon the monster I sent to my Graveyard! I summon my Metal Giant!" [LV5 ATK: 2000] "Now Metal Synchron is going to give Metal Giant a tune up! Clustering hopes will become a new shining star! Become the path its light shines upon! Synchro Summon! Take Flight! Stardust Dragon!" [Synchro LV8 ATK: 2500] Akarui declared. His eyes widened when he realized what he had just yelled, how did he know that? He forgot about it when the eyes of his three pendents started glowing even brighter. And his arm too began to glow and burn, his mark was revealed. "!!!! Ugh! What is this pain?!"

(Easily excused as a character mistake. The wording was easy enough to confuse, anyway)

Ven chuckled. "Well, I planned to give that option to you, but..." he considered for a few moments, looking at their surroundings. "Well, in such an area, we'd be too cramped to duel well. A Turbo Duel sounds good then, so that we can get around without much interference or distraction."

He kicked up the board he had been standing on before getting bumped, and flicked a switch on it, transmitting the desired signal to the small device on his right wrist. Duel Disk model, accepted. Duel Mode, standing by. He chuckled and got back on the board, adjusting his stance until he found just the right grooves for the board to stick to his feet, reducing the amount of movement he would need to keep it balanced.

"Shall we?" he said, gesturing to the street ahead. "Would you like the first turn or can I have it?" At that, the board slowly began to slide down the street, at a slow pace so that the boy could get ready without losing sight of him.

"Turbo duel huh? Alright, let's go!" Max said as he placed his board down and activated it. After getting on it, Max was prepared for the duel. Duel Disk Model, accepted. Duel Mode, activated. Auto-pilot, activated. "Alright, let's get this show on the road!" Max said as he sped up his duel board to reach Ven. "Oh, by the way, my name's Max. Nice to meet you! And if you don't mind I'll take the first turn. Here I go!" Max sped up once again and passed Ven. Max drew the sixth card and carefully looked at his hand. "Alright, I'll kick things off with Fortress Warrior in defense mode, and then I'll end things with a face-down. A pretty basic turn, but I guess sometimes simple is better. It's your move." Max said.

"Vroom vroom! Let's stop here! Vroom vroom and take a brake." Maldito's Duel Runner said as he pulled up to a Cafe. "Why does everything in my world talk? Why do you sound like Fran Drescher? More importantly who is that?" Maldito got off his runner and surveyed the cafe. He felt an evil aura. "An Immortal? Perhaps Uru?" He looked around to try and locate the Dark Signer. After a quick skim of the tables, he noticed one girl who was sitting alone. He took the seat across from her. "Hey babe, you come here often?"

(Be sure to post field/stats at the end of posts...oh, I see you changed it. Good.)

Ven chuckled, and the device on his wrist expanded into a Disk-like device. A film of green light expanded within the margins of the device, creating a "field" for the Duel. He plucked a card from within his cloak and placed it where the field spell slot would be. "Speed World 2 should be appropriate for this match," he said simply, and a circle of light surrounded them both for a moment, changing their scenery a vague purple. At the same time, he pulled a deck from within the robe as well and slid it into a deck slot, a glowing white number appearing, reading "4000"

He observed his opponent's move in silence and then flicked five cards from the top of his deck into his hand. "My turn, draw!" he announced, using his left hand to draw. A faint smirk touched his lips. "I Summon Card Trooper!"

A small red and blue robot appeared from a summoning circle, pointing its gun-like arms at Max's field. (Lvl 3, 400/400) "I activate its effect! Once per turn, I can send up to three cards from the top of my deck to my graveyard, and for every card sent this way, my Card Trooper gains 500 ATK until the End Phase. I choose to send 3, so that's 1500 more points." (ATK: 1900)

Ven considered a moment. "Fortress Warrior cannot be destroyed in battle once per turn. Attacking serves no purpose. I set down three cards. This concludes my turn." He sped up alongside Max for a moment. "Forgive the delay in a proper introduction. You may for now call me Ven." He slowed down a little and Card Trooper's ATK returned to normal.

Lily looked up at the new arrival, raising an eyebrow slightly. "That depends on whether you come here often enough to notice. Have you seen me before?" she asked dryly.

((I need to be offline now, I'll return later))

"Ven huh? Well Ven, I wish you the best of luck during this duel. I also hope I get lucky cause you look like a really tough opponent to beat. Alright, my turn! I draw!" After drawing his card, the Speed Counter meter rose up by one for both Max and Ven. "(Alright, he has three face-downs which are the biggest concern for me right now.... That Card Trooper will also be dangerous if it's kept on the field, unless I can whip out a strong enough monster to withstand that monster, then I'm in a world of trouble....)" Max thought to himself as he tried to devise a strategy with the cards in his hand. "Alright, I'm gonna summon to the field Max Warrior in attack mode. Then I'm gonna activate the speed spell Trade Draw! I can activate this card when I have two or more speed counters. This card allows me to draw a card in exchange for not attacking this turn." Max said as he drew his card. "I'll end with another face-down."

Strata hesitated to activate his face-down, which could have prevented the summoning of Stardust Dragon. Strata's birthmark started glowing as well. "Urgh... Akarui!" Strata called. "...I'm sorry to do this to you, but tis is for the best right now..." Strata thought. "Trap Card, Open! Solemn Warning! By paying 2000 Life Points, I can negate the summoning of a monster, spell, or trap card that has an effect to Special Summon a monster, and destroy it! Because Stardust Dragon's summoning is beig negated, its effect can't activate!" Stardust Dragon became engulfed by light, and when that light faded, Stardust Dragon disappeared. Strata's birthmark stopped glowing.

"Geez, quite a tough one, ain't-cha? How about a duel. Right here, right now. Let's see if you got skill to match your spunk." Maldito said, beginning to shuffle his deck. 'In this manner, I can confirm my suspicions about this girl. If she's a Dark Signer, she'll be on heck of an ally.' He set his deck into his Duel Coat. "I'll even let you go first." 'After this, I must go find those Signers. Their power was quite exciting. And I must address those rumors of Synchro Killers. I really should be dawdling here.'

Seriph stood atop the building watching steadily as the duel progressed, "Whats going on!" Seriph was stopped mid-thought by a phone ring, "I swear, I will fire him one of these days," Seriph answered by picking up a small earpiece from his belt and placed it in his ear, "Hello". Seriph stood and listened quietly for a brief moment, "Yah I'll be there soon". He removed his earpiece and pulled out a small PDA device. After a few small presses, he reattached his earpiece, "North 38 minutes 13 seconds, East 12 and 54. Keep me in loop". He removed it for a final time, "I would of wished to see this though personally, I guess we can't all can't get what we want". He rushed though the steps back down to his Duel Runner and was off.

"Trap activate," Ven announced, as soon as Max ended his turn. "Limit Reverse. This card lets me Special Summon one monster from my graveyard with 1000 ATK or less in attack position, and if it is switched to Defense position, or if Limit Reverse is removed from the Field, the monster is destroyed." He extracted a monster from his graveyard and placed it onto his disk. "I summon Wise Core!" (Lvl 1, 0/0) An egg-shaped machine appeared, opening its body a bit to show some sort of electronics within.

"My turn!" Ven announced, drawing. He smirked. "I switch Wise Core to defense position. It is then destroyed by Limit Reverse," he explained. As he did so, the Trap and his machine burst apart, showering him with pixels. His eyes lit up.

"When Wise Core is destroyed by a card effect, I destroy every monster on my field!" he said. Card Trooper creaked and also shattered. "Then, I Special Summon from my hand, deck, or graveyard, the following cards!" He reached to extract a card from his graveyard and four from his decks.

"Machine Emperor Wisel Infinity!" (Lvl 1, 0/0) A strange white oval machine with a sideways eight in its center appeared.

"Wisel Top!" (Lvl 1, 500/0) A similarly strange machine piece appeared, shaped vaguely like a comma.

"Wisel Attack!" (Lvl 1, 1200/0) A mechanical sword-like arm appeared.

"Wisel Guard!" (Lvl 1, 0/1200) This one was some sort of metal gear.

"And Wisel Carrier!" (Lvl 1, 800/0) A platform-like machine materialized.

Ven grinned. "Now, witness the ability of my Machine Emperor Wisel," he said, pointing skywards at the five machine pieces. The sideways eight's body opened, revealing darkness behind the shutters and a glowing neon core. The platform folded and transformed into what seemed to be a pair of legs. The sword-like arm expanded outwards, becoming a robotic arm, and the gear became another arm. The legs crackled with electricity and fused with the oval, followed by each arm connecting to this center. Lastly, the long comma fit into a slot near the top, tilting upwards to show red lines that made up the creature's face.

It then flexed and a glowing sideways eight appeared behind it, if only for a moment.

Ven chuckled. "Card Trooper's effect. When it is destroyed, I draw a card. And now, Machine Emperor Wisel's effect! Its ATK is equal to the combined ATK of its parts!"

(Lvl 1, ATK: 2500)

Ven pointed a finger forward. "Machine Emperor Wisel, attack Max Warrior!"

Lily blinked, contemplating the offer for a few moments. "Fine, just let me finish my drink," she said, a bit dismissively and took a long sip, setting the cup down and rising to her feet. She reached down and picked up the compact Duel Disk she kept at her feet and slid it onto her arm. From her hip, she withdrew her deck from its deck box and slid it smoothly into her deck slot, the automatic shuffler activating.

She stepped away from the tables and almost dismissively drew her five cards, followed by a sixth.

"I summon Stygian Street Patrol," she said casually. A fiend riding a motorcycle appeared in front of her. (Lvl 4, 1600/1200) "Then I place two cards facedown and end my turn."

"Here I come! Draw!" Maldito drew a card.

"I'll start off with-hm wait, no-maybe this?" Maldito looked at his hand, constantly changing the arrangement of cards. "I wonder. Maybe-well, if I wait then-YES! I activate Mystic Plasma Zone! This card increases the attack of all DARK monsters by 500, while decreasing their DEF by 400. (Response?)

"In the meantime, I place three facedowns. Turn End." Maldito grinned.

Akarui's eyes widened at the destruction of his Stardust Dragon. "I set one card face-down and end my turn..." Akarui stated, his hand was now empty, all he had on the field was his one face-down card. He hoped it would be enough to survive Strata's three monsters. His one card against those three monsters. A total attack power of 5400. "Ugh..." Akarui stated, he had to win this duel. He had won against Strata many times in the past, if he could not win this time, he would not be fit to enter the tournament.... "(Come on Akarui, think....)" Akarui thought, then he realized it.....

"You activated a Field Spell that alters Attack scores, but didn't play a monster?" Lily repeated, raising an eyebrow. Her fiend grinned wickedly as its points changed. (Lvl 4, 2100/800) "Fine, give my monster more ATK power. It's my turn!"

She drew a card and gazed at it idly. "I set a monster in defense position," she said, a sideway card appearing alongside her other monster. "Stygian Street Patrol, attack him directly!" The motorcyle-driving fiend revved its engine and torpedoed towards her opponent, raising its stick to strike him.

"And you fell into Trap Number...2! Congratulations, lets see what you won!" Maldito smirked. "And we have a Metal Reflect Slime! This is quite a unique Trap Card! It becomes a monster (Aqua/Lv10/ATK0/DEF3000). Of course, you have the option now to cancel you attack, but I might expect a face-down cards activation. Either way, sister, I've got a counter. So please, bring it on. And trust me, the more you push, the more I do." Maldito taunted. 'My darkness is waiting for it's time. Let's see how much she beckons.'

Max's eyes widened with surprise as he witnessed the parts of Wisel combining and forming a humongous monster. "Wh-What kind of monster is that.... Or to put it better, what kind of monsters are those?.... I've never seen such type of cards.... And I don't even know what they're capable of.... but I can't get too caught up and lose my focus...." Max said as he regain his composture and looked at Wisel as it aimed towards his Max Warrior. "I'm activating the trap, Miracle Lotus! With this card, I can select one face-up monster on my field in attack position and increase its ATK by 1000 until the end of the turn, and you get to draw one card!" Max explained.

Lily considered for a few seconds. "I halt my attack and set one card facedown," she said. Stygian Street Patrol veered off before it would have collided with the metallic creature and returned to her side of the field, still eyeing the opponent with a bloodthirsty grin. That still didn't explain why he played a Field Spell with no monster, especially if the Field gives my monster a bonus. Hmm, something to consider, Lily mused, slipping the card into her Spell and Trap card zone. A new card appeared behind her monsters. "That ends my turn," she said and folded her arms, waiting for her opponent to make a move.

Seriph had his in earpiece once again. He was speeding though the almost empty districts of New Domino and then suddenly his earpiece picked up an incoming call, "Seriph, we have looked into the location you ordered. It seems we have located 2 signers and possibly a third. A smile rolled across his face, "Excellent, but until we know the locale of all 5 we move unnoticed understood". "Unnoticed, understood". The phone call hung up Seriph looked forward, "It's true, I never thought it would work. After I received that anonymous call a month ago about a return of the signers I've gone my homework. My team has spent day and night searching and researching, I found a way to use the power of the signers to summon the Crimson Dragon for the benifit of the light." Seriph began to accelerate, "I need to insure that all of them enter the tournament, there's no time to lose."

"Alright, my turn, Draw!" Strata drew a card. He now had a single card in his hand. "Alright, let's try this again! I summon Whitewing, Dusk the Lunar Storm!" A large bird with a small crescent shaped scar across its underbelly appeared (lv 7/ ATK 2700/ DEF 300). "This monster can only be summoned by Special Summoning a level 8 or higher monster from your grave to your side of the field! I'll re-summon Stardust Dragon for you!" Stardust Dragon reappeared on the opposite side of the field as Strata. "Now, I'll use my Sirroco to pump up my Bora again! This will bring him to... 8100 points!" Bora drew power from the Whitewings and the Blackwings once more. "Now Bora, attack Stardust Dragon!" Bora raised his spear, and hurled it towards Stardust Dragon.

Whitewing - Dusk the Lunar Storm
This monster cannot be Normal Summoned or set. This monster can only be Special Summoned by Special Summoning a level 8 or higher monster from your opponent's Graveyard to their side of the field. This monster is also treated as a "Blackwing" monster. If this card is destroyed, except by its own effect, then draw two cards. During each of your Standby Phases, tribute one monster with fewer ATK than this card, or destroy this card. This monster cannot declare an attack.
"Brilliant!" Maldito gleefully said. He put his hand in front of his Duel Coat, which ejected his card. "Draw." 'Do I move to offense or sit around waiting for her move.' "Well, hmm..." Maldito thought. "I guess I'll ask when you plan to pull out your Earthbound Immortal. Yes, I know." Maldito smirked. "I have one, too. Now, I possess Ccapac Apu, or the Giant. I'm somewhat sure you possess Uru, the Spider." Maldito's mark began glowing. "Cha! I was right! For a second there I thought I might make a fool of myself. Anyway I end my turn."

Ven frowned slightly, but the expression didn't linger. "Nice play, but you'd be a fool to think my Machine Emperor will fall so easily. I activate Skill Successor!" One of his facedowns flipped up, showing the silhouettes of Swamp and Lava Battleguard supporting each other. "I increase the ATK of one of my monsters by 400 points until the End Phase. I choose my Machine Emperor Wisel Infinity!"

(Response? If not...)

Wisel glowed briefly and flexed once before striking its hand upon the strengthed Max Warrior (ATK: 2900). Ven drew his card. "I must thank you for the card, though," he said casually. He slipped the drawn card into a Spell and Trap card slot. "I set a card. Turn End." The small aura around the Machine Emperor faded away. (ATK: 2500)

"You make a fool of yourself regardless," Lily said dryly, but she rolled up her right sleeve to flash the now-glowing Spider Mark. "For if you knew I had an Immortal, you gave me a Field Spell to Summon it, and you should know its power."

"My turn!" she announced, drawing. "I activate Trap Stun! During this turn, all Traps are negated! This will include your Trap monster, returning it uselessly to the Spell and Trap Card zone!" she chuckled to herself. "And once the Stun wears off, it won't become a monster again due to its timing. "HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" Akarui laughed "You made this even better then I imagined!" Akarui declared "I activate my trap! Synchro Shield! I can only activate this card if one of my Synchro Monsters would be destroyed by battle by a monster with 3500 or more attack. So this is how it's gonna go down, the attack is negated and YOU take damage equal to how much I was going to take! So, let's see, 8100-2500=....4600 points of damage!" Akarui declared "Oh, and I have to send the top 5 cards of my deck to the graveyard." Akarui added as he removed the top 5 cards of his deck. "I'm activating the trap card, Miracle Beacon! Here's what this card does. When I control two or more face-up monsters during your battle phase, and when you attack, I can change the target monster to another monster on the field as long as the new target monster has less ATK than the original target monster. So I'm switching your attack towards Fortress Warrior, and since Fortress Warrior is currently in defense position, I must switch it to attack position. However, due to Fortress Warrior's effect, even though it is in attack position I won't take any damage and it is not destroyed!" Max explained as he activated his face down.

"How annoying," Ven mused. His Machine Emperor slammed against the Fortress Warrior, not leaving so much as a dent. He looked at his hand, taking his most recently drawn card, the one from Miracle Locus, and setting it on the field. "I set this and end my turn. Wisel's ATK returns to normal." He glanced over at Max. He's done well for himself, managing to be offensively defensive and then defensive. But he'll need much more than that to defeat the Machine Emperor.
