Lily's gaze was cool. "Do you even have a clue what my life was? I was young when fate brought me to this state. Young and thirsting for a future I will no longer enjoy and never taste beyond this shell of a life bestowed upon me by Uru. The temptation to die and be free simply does not exist. I am not satisfied with my state, and until I do something to reverse that dissatisfaction, I will remain."

The firmness in her eyes did not waver. "You asked me a question, now I turn it upon you. What do you want to accomplish...and why do you care why I continue to live, rather than embrace death? Don't forget, you two are trapped in this limbo."

---

Ven stroked his chin. "This would not be the first time, would it? The Head Mark is fickle, I imagine. Only goes to show: Descendants of heroes are not guaranteed to be heroes themselves." He chuckled, contemplating the situation for himself. He much preferred to be doing something than just sitting here, and asking guidance for every thing that didn't quite fit. The Earthbound Immortals were running about again, and Sven had failed to prevent that, and now...Signer marks changing owners?

"Perhaps the Dragons know...stagnation is inevitable without change."

Number 91 replies to the attack emotionlessly, as if she doesn't understand what just happened, or she does, and she just doesn't care. "mdl 236's effect activates, changing him to Defense Position, which I chain using Karakuri Trick House, one of my face-down Traps."
As Nisamu collapses into pieces, a house springs up around Lunar Belief, as a female scream can be heard from the inside. When the house collapses, the nothing is inside.
"Karakuri Trick House can be activated when a Karakuri monster changes its battle position. It allows me to destroy a card on the field, and I chose your Lunar Belief, since it was the logical choice."

"Hmph... Very well... I will tell you." Leuneth began. He turned back to Lily. "I only remain here because I am required to by my own laws. What would this world be like if death's rule did not apply?" Leuneth said, as he turned back to the window again. "Chaos would forever ensue. Now, if someone would open death's door for those who couldn't do it themselves, or wouldn't... Then that problem would be solved. That is why I remain here. However, as a death god in human form, and a human originally, I was not immortal, as all other gods were." Leuneth said. He chuckled. "Ironic, isn't it? Death gods don't die, yet I still did. Either way, when I died, I sought a way to avoid opening that door. Fortunately... If you want to use such a word... Since I was the only one to do such a job, I was not forced to walk through this door. That is when Assla Piscu found me. We had an accord; I would do what I could to go against the Signers, and I would be brought back. That way, I could continue my job as the death god." Leuneth finished. "And that, is why I remain here. My job is simple; to live out the cruel fate of all others so that they don't have to." Leuneth said. He turned back to Lily. "Many who knew me thought of me as a bad omen. The truth is, I releieve people of the burdens they bear. But pride is a terrible thing. Many like yourself wanted to go back, and to finish something they sought to do in this life." Leuneth said. "Now, of course, the simple question now is... Could I not do my job if I was dead? Yes. I could not. I cannot exist between Life and Death as I do now, if on the extreme of Death. On Life, however, I am free to move about this world, and the inbetween." Leuneth said. "...Now, if that is all..." Leuneth said. "...But feel free to ask any more questions you deem to be worth what little time you have left in this world... Or at least... A little amount, compared to the endless amount you'll have in death..." Leuneth said.

Dante drew and looked over to his new card, "Ha, too bad I thought you might of had me, I special summon Soul of Purity and Light by removing from play Vairon Cube and Vairon Soldier." A majestic angel appeared before Dante, "Now I activate my FD spell, Vairon Matter so that by adding the 3 Vairon Material in my Grave to my deck I can activate one of its effects and I choose to destroy 1 on field. Destroy Bladedge!" A lightning bolt struck Bladedge
(response if not?)
"Go, my angel strike down Zeta. Purified Light!" The spirit rose above the field and held out a shimmering orb. It burst into a blinding light.
(response if not?)
"I'll end my turn here," said Dante. Only 3000 life points left I can't afford to be careless now, thought Dante, not now hes good but I NEED to be better.

Lily's expression remained impassive throughout Leuneth's speech, and once he had finished, she contemplated what he had said, relating what portions applied to her own situation. "No, I think that will do," she said, gazing around in silence. "I should be getting back to the tournament. You should as well. I'm sure there's a safeguard to make sure people don't avoid duels until the numbers have been reduced too far, such as a penalty, or a loss automatically marked on your record to keep you in the same danger of elimination as the rest."

She turned, but paused at the foot of the stairs down. "I'd say to avoid drawing attention to yourself, but it seems I've already done so." She remembered her Signer adversary. "It all worked out for me in the end, though." She then descended the stairs.

"My turn, draw." And Zeta drew his card. He examined his hand for a while, thinking of a move. "Ah, I know. I set a card." In truth, there were no monsters that Zeta could use, but he knew what the next card he would draw would be. Since his opponent won't give him chances, he decided to use his set card to do it. "You go on and on about the light, but have you ever thought the dark could be good too? There's potential for light to blind a person, and dark to bring the man back to normal. I hear there are even flowers that grow in the shade these days. Even so, I am not of that sort of darkness. I am Zeta, a clone of the true Supreme King of Darkness, and nothing can stop what I am. Face oblivion, Dante."

(I assume you ended) "Draw." Dante was insulted by Zeta, "How dare you, you question Seraph and the Light. That will Not Go Unpunished!. I summon Vairon Sphere from my hand. And syncro it with my Soul of Purity and Light." Sphere burst into a ring and Soul into 6 stars, "In the dark void Light simmers as a beacon untouched by time and corrupt in existence with the solo purpose of disposing of the shadows. YOU WILL PERISH! Come forth Vairon Sigma!". A mechanized Angel appeared covered in massive hovering gold rings, "Strike my beast let no shadow escape your sight. Holy Arbiter!." A massive shining light appearing in Sigma's hands, "Plus as a bonus when he attacks I can attach an equip spell from my deck if hes the only monster on my field and I choose a weapon of darkness Axe of Desair." An axe appeared on Sigma (ATK: 1800 -> 2800), "Zeta you are man of the shade, reap what you sow! FIRE!". The blast accelerated toward Zeta.

Zeta just stood there and welcomed the attack (LP 3200). "Oh oh oh, too bad." He said, in what sounded like the truth. "My set card is just a bluff, to tell the truth. Too bad for me. Another two attacks like that and I'm gonna lose!" It sounded like the truth. Zeta then burst out laughing. "Your pathetic light. Just because you are the light does not mean you are the good! How many times does light kill a person's eyes?! How many times does light steal the water of a traveling person?! How many times is light just a trap to lure in the pests?! Light is not always good, Dante, the same reason that Dark is not always evil!" And then his laughing ceased. "If you want me to perish, then try me."

Kirin looked at Black-Winged Dragon. "So it seems....anyways, you probably shouldn't associate yourself with me much...at least not yet..." Kirin said, turning away from Strata. "And just for the record, you can call me Kirin" he jumped up the cliff nearby and disappeared. "Perhaps I will be forced to seek him out soon...but for now..." he kept running, back to the station-area, which was miles off...

-MEANWHILE-

Nikki approached Lily and Leneuth. "May I crash this party?" Nikki stepped towards them, giving off a sly smile. "Impressive....Two Signers down with a single Immortal...though wasn't it you who told us not to attract attention?" she whispered.

"Foolish even in the maw of defeat you still are ignorant of our truth and purpose. Those who are blinded are those who refuse the light, thus they are punished. Those who seek to challenge lights supremacy will lose what they desire, thus they are punished. Those unworthy and corrupting influences are drawn in envy to the light, thus they are punished." Dante raised his fist to Dante, "Those who challenge Seraph are my enemies. Seraph is a savior and messiah of light. A world free of pain, misery, despair, fear. Free of the things that take the lives of other and commit unspeakable acts. That is a world we strive for, that is our purpose." Dante took a step forward, "Light is never evil just harsh, it offers an unquestionable love to all who accept it. Darkness is always evil just clever, the silver tongues of demons and abused affluence. Can you not see it the, the light that offers its hand, the same light you just questioned, it will accept you and take you in, how can you refuse such a caring loving nature. Do you see it?." Dante stepped back, "I end my turn."

"Yes, I did say that, the irony is staggering," Lily replied in a deadpan. "They forced my hand, and little more. The cards fell into place and I used them the way they worked best. I didn't want to draw attention the first time, and the second noticed the attraction of the first. It doesn't matter, I know two of our foes for sure, now. It would be wonderful if we could find the other three, and defeat them like I defeated those two."

She paused and studied the other female Dark Signer. "As we are getting to know one another a bit better, it seems I overlooked the opportunity to introduce myself. I am Lily, bearer of Uru."

"...I'm Leuneth, Aslla's bearer..." Leuneth said. "..." Leuneth once again turned back to the window. "...And I didn't quite get your name the first time we met... What was it again...?" Leuneth asked. "

-MEANWHILE-

Strata watched as Kirin ran off. "Huh. Well, that was an interesting meeting." Strata saidto himself. "Urgh... I'm still a bit sore from that attack..." Strata thought. He began to walk back to his room. "After I rest a little, or at least ease a bit of this pain, I should go back to dueling." Strata thought.

-MEANWHILE-

Sven looked over once more at Ven. He looked back at the viewpoint moments later. "What do you suggest we do, about our now unknown Stardust bearer? Our contacts have not reported in quite some time, and now we only have knowledge of two out of five Signers. This, to me, is cause for a reaction. We must relocate the Stardust bearer to ensure that Stardust Dragon's evolution does not proceed unchecked." Sven said. "What is your oppinion on this matter?" Sven repeated.

"I quite agree," Ven said, with little hesitation. "If our contacts placed throughout the tournament itself are not enough to keep tabs on the Signers, then we need a second strategy." He rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "The best way to ensure the evolution does not occur is to have him defeated before he gets the chance, but if he doesn't go against strong opponents, the collection of energy won't light much more than a flicker of the Circuit, correct?"

He considered a few moments in silence. "To which, we have a few small options. We can either plant someone directly to oppose him...ideally one of ourselves, or we steer him into the arms of one of the Dark Signers. If he wins, we get a mark against the Dark Signers, and if he loses, he'll get a mark against himself. Either way, the clash of the two Signer types should boost our agenda. Likewise if we do it ourselves. If we can secure Stardust Dragon within our Synchro Killers...then an evolution isn't a concern. Didn't Wisel's previous owner suggest this once?"

"I laugh at how blind you are. Draw." Zeta drew his card. "If you were in the light for too long, you would sweat from the heat. Get too close and you might get burned. There is more darkness than light in this universe, but that is only because there is light. As long as there is light, there is darkness. If neither are present, there is only Mu, which is the true word for nothingness. But there hasn't been any Mu since the creation of the universe, and only the oldest of the gods can remember it. It is time you find out which is greater: the light or the darkness." He looked at his hand. "I am the ultimate herald of darkness, Dante! I am borne from he the Supreme King! I am helped by he the King of the Underworld! TURN END!"

"Hopeless fool. The light of day to one in the shadows is blinding of coarse, are just a lost cause. You end your turn with nothing. So be it I will end your suffering." Dante drew, "I summon Vairon Vanguard in ATK mode". A winged mech appeared, "Strike Sigma make the blow to being him to his knees". Sigma prepared yet another shining orb, "Radiant Dawn! (I like making up move names ^_^)". It propelled toward Zeta.

(Response, uh just in case.)

Nikki stared at Leneuth. "My name is Nikki...I hold Corea Napscu..." Nikki explained ominously. "Now, back to the point...it seems as if every one of us has won our matches so far..." Nikki commented. "Now, Lily...you seem oddly...familiar...Have we met somewhere before?" Nikki asked quietly, as if remembering something from the distant past.

Ren glided through the vortex, eventually coming to a point where light was visible. "What was ZONE thinking, sending me to this time?" he thought as he stepped out of the portal, light blinding him for a moment. When the colors returned, he found himself in a room with three thrones. Ren looked around, then at himself, noticing his appearance. "Is it just me, or have I been transformed into a kid?" he asked himself, dumbfounded. Then, he glanced upwards, where he noticed two men talking...

Sven looked over at Ren. "Ah, you must be the new emperor. Welcome to the universe's vantage point." Sven said. "So you're Skiel's new bearer... Interesting." Sven said to himself. He looked back over to Ven. "I definitely agree with you. Without a good contact to keep tabs on the Signers, we shall have to step in ourselves. However, I would suggest sending our newest addition. He seems fairly new to this timeline, so why not let him get a better picture of it?" Sven suggested.

-MEANWHILE-

"...Hmph... Leuneth began to walk towards the exit of the observation platform. "...I'll leave you two be for now..." Leuneth said. "...Perhaps we can meet under slightly better circumstances next time..." Leuneth said. "...And you..." He turned to Nikki before walking out. "...Don't die again..." Leuneth said. Seconds later, he was looking for an opponent.

Ven smirked. "I thought you might see it that way," he said, and extracted a small Duel Calculator from within the folds of his gray cloak. "I took the liberty of acquiring one of these ahead of time," he mused. "Unfortunately, I was not allowed to get three, so the losses are accumulative for all three of us, if we were to go at any future point in time. We can afford one possible loss, but if a loss is made, we'd have to choose the duelist carefully next time. If he wins, it doesn't hurt us."

He turned to the younger Emperor and wrinkled his nose, finally tossing the Duel Calculator to him. "I'm banking on you not losing our advantage of surprise. There's a tournament going on right now, and what we need you to do is to locate the bearer of the Crimson Dragon Head birthmark, and if possible, capture Stardust Dragon using a Machine Emperor. Defeating him would also be acceptable, and a loss...less than desired, but not the end of the world. Any questions?"

----

"Nikki..." Lily repeated, and then stared at the other female, narrowing her eyes critically. "Ah...you did tell me the name before, funny that I didn't make the connection before." A sad smile flittered across the Dark Signer's lips and she brushed back the hood from her head. "Do I look more familiar now?"

Ren turned to the two other emperors. "Now, the second I get sent here, I get forced out..." he thought as he sighed. He grabbed the Duel Calculator at his feet. "Fine...fine..." he mumbled, a cloak lowering itself upon him. He proceeded to take out a small sphere, which expanded into a Duel Board. Two pairs of wings flapped out of the sides as he rode off. Another portal opened up, and Ren rode right into it. As he got to the end of the tunnel-like vortex, he saw another light...a dark light. He rode out, appearing above the station. "Stardust Dragon...hehehe...shouldn't be a problem..." he thought.

-MEANWHILE-

Nikki watched in shock as Lily removed her hood. "Lily! It is you..." Nikki's ominous smile expanded into a grin as she called. Then, her grin became one of sorrow. "I always wanted to see you again...in fact, that was one of my reasons for joining this tournament...but...I never hoped it would've happened this way..." Nikki expressed, sadly,

Zeta watched. "Kah! Hah! GAZIELEMENHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My trap!" Zeta's face-down card revealed itself to be a trap card called Offering to the Immortals. "I - negate attack - add 1 Earthbound card to hand - Special Summon two tokens!" Vanguard was suddenly thrown into the air by an invisible force into Dante. Now that would have been usual, had it not been psychical. Dante was hit by a real Vanguard's weight. The Duel was now a Shadow Duel. After the gust of wind, two rock things appeared in front of Zeta as he took a card from his deck. And before Dante could do anything else, it was Zeta's turn. "Face my HAHHAHAHAHHA WRATH! KEHEKEKHEROAVIANHAHAHAH!" The two rock things suddenly disappeared.....

"Black hope and BLACK earth, heed thy CALL! I command ye to come and bring forth the most ultimate of OBLIVION! Show this FOOL what fear MEANS! Earthbound Immortal Wiraqocha Rasca!"

The two stone things disappeared, and were replaced by something very, VERY massive (ATK 100). It looked like an enormous entirely-black Condor with violet lines running through it in patterns. Meanwhile, the Nasca line of the Condor appeared and surrounded Zeta and Dante. "GAME ON!" The massive Condor suddenly burst out a laser that hit somewhere nearby Dante, sending him flying further away while inflicting 800 points of damage onto him (Dante LP 2200) AND increasing the Condor's attack by 800 (ATK 900). "I set two cards and end my turn! Game on! Game on! BANG BANG BANGOFALALALALALALA!"

"It'll be good for you," Ven said before the younger emperor left through a portal. He shook his head and returned his gaze to the viewpoint. "Let's just hope he manages something useful," he muttered under his breath. It was a small chance for him to share a Duel Calculator with the other Emperors, rather than keep it for himself, but he knew that if he pulled that style, Sven would shoot it down, and then it'd be much harder to accomplish anything they were aiming for.

---

Justin was starting to grow a little restless. He was pumped for a duel, and yet everyone he passed seemed either uninterested, involved in a duel already, or he just didn't feel like challenging that specific player. He tapped a few buttons on his Calculator to bring up the tournament stats. He scanned the list of people near the top of the chain, fairly pleased that small pictures were included, but as he looked around, he didn't see the people who matched those images. Oh well, he'd find them.

--

Lily walked a little nearer to Nikki and patted her shoulder. "I doubt you could have known how our situations would cross again. In normal situations...it never would have. If nothing else, you should cherish the very fact you are able to see me and I can see you. The Immortals work in odd ways, it seems." She smiled a bit weakly, and raised her hood again. "What happened to you?"

Dante was collapsed back against the wall, "What the hell is that? What attack was...no it can't be, it was real?." Dante coughed and grabbed his abdomen, "Dammit, my ribs been broken, how am I supposed to fight something like that?" Dante drew, "Now I-". Dante again coughed if not a bit of blood, what kind of game am I playing?. ".Vanguard strike that demon." Dante stood on his feet clenching his rib cage, "I am no longer fighting a man of the shadows, I am fighting the shadows. Vanguard crush him!" Dante thought, surely he wouldn't summon something like that and let me end him now. What is he up to?

Wiraqocha Rasca was far too high for Vanguard to hit him, and no matter how hard Vanguard tried, he just couldn't reach Wiraqocha Rasca, so instead decided to attack Zeta directly. "Did I MENTION that EARTHBOUND IMMORTALS cannot be TARGETED by attacks?" Zeta said in a very weird way. He shook his Duel Disk as if he were a toddler playing with it. "THAT MEANS I activate my trap card, Negate Attack! I can negate an attack and end the Battle Phase IMME- LA DI DUEL ELEMENTAL SUPREME NEGATION KALALALLAFALOINDOH HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH USELESS FOOLS DEFYING THE DUEL ON DUEL ON!" A wind prevented Vanguard from attacking Zeta directly, and then the thing retreated.
