They won't be making it over and over again if they stay on their topic. You can have a lot of broad topics (Any Manga, Any decent size Video Game series, etc) so there is no reason why those kind of topics should start talking about Unicorns or Rainbows.

No this has never been done before. That is the very reason I'm going though all this before I bring it out to the public.

I don't get the second thing, but for the 3rd this section has gotten bad, and it really might be close to that level. Couple this with me not being able to think of another way to fix this and this is what you get. If any one can think of another way to go about making this better I'll listen.

I only just found a out about that now. Plus I haven't been enforcing that rules and I don't think it's fare to just start enforcing it now. However it doesn't change the fact that people are ignoring a rule clearly laid out in the rules.

And what should I do lock it? Tell it to get a set topic when it already has one? IMO those are my only two choices and neither would work.

Yes, I know I did. But I knew what Dark was doing and I wanted to see how long it would last. I can show you the pm to prove that I knew what was going on. Also note the reply to the unicorn topic was mostly me defending my position on this issue. The unicorn thing got foot note since I want to post be stupid for a change. Same with the rainbow thing, only it's less obvious. When I said Dark won the thread it was because he showed how stupid the concept of free flowing discussion is.

Please focus on the issue at hand not try finding a bad loop hole.

I still have no idea what the bloody hell is meant by member group. If I were to guess it's a group of members that share a common interest and talk about it. Clubs are meant to find a specific thing, lets say MTG, and people talk about it.

It was fun because the topic was as unglued as unicorns and rainbows. I said part of the reason I didn't stop it was because it was funny as hell. Again I knew full well what was going on and God forbid a mod use two posts to be stupid. I knew what was going on and just wanted to have a little fun before I had to fix the fact that your discussion had nothing to do with this threads main goal. I even say so long as it's brief you can drift off topic every once and a while so long as you get rooted again. I said that in the rules damn it. But that doesn't happen here. You let yourself start a party and it doesn't end and if it does it starts up again quickly.

But at the end of the day none of this changes that it's against the sites rules of what is spam. And you make it sound like you can't have fun in a set topic.

The con that clubs have to start over blah blah blah is bullshit, since not only do you have a member base that already visits, but you are already established in the club world. I can understand if ONE club was locked and remade. That may kill that one club. If all are locked, nothing dies. It's bullshit speculation coming from all of you, since the logic can be stated that if one club dies due to the nuking, all of them could die, theoretically. And if all of them die, the entire forum dies. Which is not even remotely possible. I imagine the rules would be created before the lockage even happens, and if FD plans it nicely, the clubs would be back up with new rules within a couple of hours, a day at most.

One, you were never initially in this debate, especially during the long three-page post war we had, so why join now? HEY GUYS, I'M GOING TO MAKE A CLUB THAT DISCUSSES EVERYTHING. EVEN THE BENEFITS OF +1 POST COUNT. And I see no reason why it is spam, since +1 post counts pertain to the topic of +1 post counts, and gaining +1 post count is providing scientific evidence of the aforementioned benefits.

Here's a solution: any clubs that [b]do not have a concrete topic, or are "member groups" where you hang out with your friends and nothing more[/b] should be moved to a subsection of Games, and any clubs that do have a topic should go through with this nuking plan. Since surely you agree that clubs that have a topic spam if they get off-topic. As Flame Dragon said, don't talk about Bleach in a Pokemon thread in Anime/Manga. You'd get your ass kicked. Similarly, don't talk about Bleach in a Pokemon club.

Also, [i]this[/i] Games solution is a legitimate one.

Even if you did, that would require the use of what is essentially the "evolving topic" idea I put forth earlier. However, agreeing with said idea would contradict just about all your reasons for nuking C&O and bringing stricter rules down on it, because that idea is the very same one that says a club can eventually evolve past it's original topic and still remain great if not better.


You are, from a logical perspective, quite simply screwed.

Assuming the members don't miss all the threads getting locked and refuse read the other things I will be posting if I go though with this then they won't. If they they will see a club, again MTG since I like that club, they will clearly see what they can talk about there and talk about it.

And before you ask the threads will be outlining things like why I'm doing this, the new rules, and other things that I'll think of should this happen. I'm in step 1 and will start thinking of step 3 should I reach step 2.

No, it makes everybody in this thread happy. Clair, this is YCM. Do you not know how many people cherish and hold their post count sacred. And now... Flame Dragon is disabling post count in C&O? And everyone lost literally thousands of posts because of this?! This is bullshit and stupid, we must revolt and get this overturned.

Personally nuking C&O is more member-friendly than disabling post count. Which is why we should only disable post count for the clubs that literally have no topic whatsoever and are spamholes that generate nothing useful. And it should be a subsection of Games.

And the rest of the clubs should be put under strict guidelines, unless you believe spam just does not exist.

And personally, no one posts anywhere [i]sole[/i]ly for post count. It's just a byproduct. Oh, hey, a cool thread. Let me post! That comment wasn't very insightful... oh well, I got +1 post count anyways.
