Hydra of Ages
"Please Madam..." came the weak plea of an armored soldier, head bowed and blade laid bare on the ground, as he bowed to the milk skinned-woman, long red horns like shocks of blood combined through her raven hair, as she gave a dainty smirk before taking a sip of red liquid from a crystal glass. Hunched on the throne, slightly askew in order to seem casual, she twirled a lock of hair around her free hand. Her red eyes examined the slave; a proud beast, wolflike and feral with ears like the beasts his people worshiped. His armor was spotless steel, his sword reflected the flames that danced before torches that surrounded the room. His face was pitiful; a mask of loss and helplessness that she felt, quite personally, was quite delicious. "You must allow me to return to my kingdom... my people, please... they need me, with the war and the plague..." he muttered. She shook her head and finished her wine. "No. I have need of you." she said without a smile on her face, looking away from him as, for all the world knew, a statue of pure ice. He howled and jumped to his feet, face reddening. "But you must! It is my duty- my RIGHT to serve them! I must! I've given too much-" She cackled a little in response. "Indeed. To help them, you gave up your right to help them. After all." She grinned even broader than before, showing her dagger-like teeth. "The dead have no rights." -
The Underworld had never been particularly stable, but it had, at the very least, managed to operate under a single somewhat-uniform banner for the past several millennium. United under the banner of the Lightbringer, a fallen Angel from the realms of paradise, the various varieties of demons and their associated realms, estates, kingdoms and baronies called off their eternal bloodwars in order to work towards what people supposed was the greater betterment of demon society. Surely, simply stopping even a few of the civil wars improved relations between eachother; demons were formerly barbaric and unintelligent beasts, who killed and devoured anyone weaker than them they could find. It was a miserable, animalistic existence, from which unified divisions only came up as a result of a particularly strong and intelligent demon discovering that he could have unwanted tasks delegated to weaker demons in exchange for not immediately killing them. When the Lightbringer came, this ended. Civility came into a world where previously only the strong ruled, because the Lightbringer now defined 'the strong' as including only himself. Society actually emerged, and with it came intelligence, and from there, cunning. Devils supplemented their ranks -fallen Angels, with as much strength as demonkind but far more intelligence and experience in leadership- causing there to arrive a time when Demons could finally identify themselves with others like themselves, instead of others. Soon, it was Devils against Demons, but then it became Large Demons against Small Ones, Fire Based against Wind Based, Magical verse Physical, and without much prodding, they congregated into distinct settlements where they would work together in order to survive, rather than stay separate. The Lightbringer eventually died, and his first son, Kalendan, took the reigns. There was instability. Devils and Demons alike sensed this, and in a bid for power, attempted to create their own empires; small attempts that were easily crushed, but attempts all the like. They fought against one another, and soon enough, discovered the magic of alliances. Allying yourself could grant you more influence, and well-timed betrayal could turn tides in favor of your victory. They squabbled amongst eachother, only getting their feet wet in these notions, and Kalendan generally let them be, as their ineptitude kept them weak. Kalendan had not the power of his father, and thus his strength was in the established order; he was good at playing the game, far more than any others, and he avoided any insurrection with ease. But each time they failed, they learned and become more adept at it, Devil and Demon alike, and each of them waited for a moment of weakness. Kalendan died, and that weakness was exposed as power was transfered to his first son, Iebril. Iebril was a crossbreed, a Demon and Devil hybrid, and representative of the society they lived in now. There was now no longer a divide between the Fallen Angels and the resident Demons; their genes had intermixed to the point where it was an essential moot point. Even so, building on this change in the norm, new dynasties attempted to rise up and challenge the Lightbringer's multiple-generation strangehold on the Underworld; they failed, but only to Iebril's greater power. Iebril was stronger than his father, far stronger, and commanded a differant sort of loyalty from his supporters. Rather than rule with just fear, he intermixed love; positive elements that made his people adore him as a ruler, and wish for his death perhaps a little less. He turned the Underworld into more of an actual society rather than simply a domain, and was much adored. But it was this that solidified his opposition; with this new organization came the need for local government and rulers. The land was once again chopped up into small segments, each ruled locally, but paying tribute to him as its ruler on a global scale. He introduced the greatest change; Human Souls residing in the Underworld with impunity. While the souls of the damned had previously came to the Underworld across all time, they were nothing but food and prospective power to the residents; raw, ambient energy, not actual beings, who existed only until they paid their karmic debt and were allowed to reincarnate. He enacted sacred rituals, many of them blasphemously in co-operation with the realms of Paradise and the angels of themselves, which allowed damned souls to take on physical form, much like the demons themselves. As such, a slave chaste was created; damned human souls who existed only until their debt was paid and they could once again enter the mortal realms. They served the Demons, and they liked this, for now even the weakest demon had an entire species they could do with as they like. Unlike his predescesors, Iebril was assassinated. Few know why, or how, but some expect it had something to do with the Angels and an assassin employed by the realms of Paradise. Without an immediately clear heir, the unity of the Underworld shattered like glass; when there had previously been hundreds of states, small baronies and thanedoms, there were now hundreds of small kingdoms, all vying against eachother for ultimate control. But blood was not spilled... or at least not much. After all, that was the way of their ancient ancestors, fools who were easilly taken apart by a fallen Angel. No, now they knew the ways of sublty and intrugue; of spywork, betrayal and alliance. Mindless violence has its place, of course, but the demon lords realized one thing rather quickly; if they can get someone else to do the killing, then they aren't as liable to be killed in response. And as the various demon lords pondered this, a plague, a war and an invasion of unholy monstrocities plagued the mortal worlds, helpfully delivering hundreds of heros directly into the clutches of the lords who needed them...

Shape The Underworld is almost infinitely vast; it is a flat plane with no curvature, which seems to descend into darkness if you look far enough out. It does, however, form in the shape of various rings, each larger than the last as they fit together. These rings are not attached to eachother, but leave a gap of nothingness between eachother several hundred meters long; falling into this gap will cause you to fall for approximately eight years, after which you will appear to drop from the sky approximetly where you fell. This is noted as being rather annoying and frequently fatal, and as such many bridges have been built between each ring of the underworld. Some of these are broken, and others have been burnt entirely as demons realize they don't want others coming to their homes, and as such it can be very annoying for those who can't fly to get between rings. Rings vary wildly in width, though most are large enough to fit several large cities, placed beside eachother. Landscape Most of the underworld is dark and bleak, however it is by no means a boring place. Mountanious areas are ubiquitious, even though there are no tectonic plates to form them, and act as the main spot of residence for most demons. Mountains tend to have magic associated with them, and as such are viewed with suspician by outsiders; some mountains can be incredibly cold, whereas others have enhanced (or no) gravity, and still others yet are entirely invisible when viewed between eight and twelve o-clock. Oceans are nonexistant in the Underworld, save for the fourteenth ring, which is a massive circular waterfall (the water being generated from absolutely nothing). Plant and animal life are common in some areas, and not so much in others. Most plants tend to be edible and animals, pacifistic, as they were created by the demons simply as a source of substinence. There is little concept of 'poision' as demons are not similar enough biologically for such things to have much of a point. Magic Magic is the innate power in the Underworld. It can be found in a variety of ways, and manipulated by anyone with enough power or the proper rituals. Human Souls are naturally made up of magic, and are frequently used to power most of anything found in the Underworld. Demons without massive physical strength often study rituals in order to place themselves on a more even footing with others, or use their innate talents to control more wild and powerful magic.

The Underworld and the realm of Paradise are not the final resting place for the dead. Instead, they are a sort of purgatory where the dead are sent to prepare themselves for the next stage of life; those whose karma favors them are put into the Realm of Paradise and serve the Angels until they are finally ready to be granted Final Rest. Those with unfavorable karma, or who do not wish to pass on, are sent to the Underworld where they burn off their sins until they can be reincarnated back into the mortal realm (and given another chance to acheive Final Rest). Demons and Angels do not have 'souls' as humans know them- this is probably because they are natural residents of places outside the mortal plane, and as such, could be considred to be 'just' souls. When a Demon or Angel dies, they immediately pass onto the Final Rest, or are reincarnated if they are strong and able enough. A reincarnated Demon or Angel remembers nothing of their past life unless certain very specific rituals were first applied, a situation which rarely applies to anyone less notable than a regional duke. The natural state of a Human Soul in the Underworld is a transluscent weightless liquid that exudes a pungent red mist, which is the condensed essence of their sin. Demons used to collect Human Souls and drain the power from them to get more strength; a painful process for the soul. After Iebril's rituals, Human Souls now condense into the shape of what that human was, with all the associated strengths and weaknesses. If a human is killed while in this state, they return to their lifeless-soul form until specialized rituals are applied on them to 'revive' them. Little is known about what souls in the realm of Paradise do before they pass on to the Final Rest.

Demons have an almost infinite amount of variations. Small, large, animalistic, simplistic; they're all considered demon. Demons have a limited ability to change their shape, and as they are yound, their perceptions of the world and other demons influence what their adult form will look like. Similarly, they have varied capabilities. While all can use magic to some point or another, some are better at it than others, or can simply only use it in certain ways, or can use wild magic but not ritual magic, etcetra, etcetra. Demons live up until the age of about twelve-hundred before they die naturally, reach mental maturity at around age seven, and reach sexual maturity around age one-hundred. They are exceptionally virile, and they can reproduce with practically anything, meaning that there are a lot of demons in existence. While some demons who resent 'cross breeds' do exist, the simple fact is that demons are rarely more similar to eachother than they are to other species, and they can copulate with any of them- as such, few people actually care about the biological heritage of any given demon. Devils, notably, are very humanoid. They have long dark wings that resemble that of a blackbird, and red irises; they are also always very skinny. However, purebred Devils are almost extinct in the current age, excepting the rare newly-fallen Angel. Devil-Demon crossbreeds usually favor the Devil's physical appearance, but generally vary it with demon aspects. A very common example is a hybrid with bat wings rather than feathered ones- a result so typical, few people know it isn't a natural formation. All Demons and Devils are very difficult to kill, regardless of what they look like. A large demons is very likely to be dangerous- but then again, so it a small demon.

There are two options for players- they can either play as a Dead Human Hero, or a Demon Lord. Demon Lord spots are reserved for the more experienced Role-Players, and must never at any point outnumber the Heroes; each Demon Lord will act as a Patron to several Heroes, and will often be the one to dictate what needs to be done. You may choose which Demon Lord you wish to be your patron, but be aware that every Lord should have a similar amount of Heroes working for them. Advanced rules obviously apply, and anyone caught shortposting is liable to be kicked without impunity. Powerplaying or Godmodding is specifically forbidden. Quiksilver
Name: Belphazore, alternatively known as 'the Gatekeeper' and 'Blackblood'. Species: Hybrid, Demon on his mother, Jelazael,'s side, Devil on his father, Ba'al,'s side. Physical Description: Due to his Devil heritage, the Gatekeeper is humanoid, with a bone structure similar to that of a human bodybuilder, but, due to his Demon heritage, his look is quite outlandish. He can be described as fiery, but that would be inaccurate...a more accurate term wound be burning. Flame quite literally runs up and down his body, as natural to him as water to you doing that would be. His head is the part only not burning, but it is hardly better off- with shark-black eyes, two long glossy brown rams' horns and a flaming crown hovering above his head, (/Hellboy reference) Belphazore's face can hardly be termed better off than the rest of his body. The only human-like part of Belphazore there seems to be is his shaggy black hair. Despite the fires running up and down his pale frame, the Gatekeeper will still constantly wear a mantle of armor, pitch-black with spikes at the shoulder and around the waist. This armor is always kept on, for some reason, despite Belphazore could kill most people within seconds. It is unknown as of yet what properties this armor contains, though it is known to have gotten Blackblood through quite a few fights... Bio: Belphazore, son of Jelazael and Ba'al, both princes of the Underworld, was Hell's version of a rich boy. Raised in a palace atop a mountain, Belphazore was raised in luxury, his every devilish need attended to. Trained extensively in combat by his father and in politics by his mother, Belphazore hungered for the day he would be able to test his skills in battle. His time came with the death of Iebril, in which Belphazore killed his own parents and took control of their armies. Under Bephazore's hand, the thanedom quickly grew into one of the most powerful around, so powerful Belphazore managed to obtain the job of Gatekeeper, which gave him control of arcane secrets like that of the secret paths connecting the Underworld and the Mortal Realm. But still, Belphazore's wanted for more; possessed by a insatiable hunger for power, the Gatekeeper decided he wanted only one thing; Complete and utter control of the Underworld. And to do that, Belphazore would need some human heroes under his command... Personality: Power-hungry and ambitious, Belphazore had proven to be a most skilled adversary in both duels of swords and tongues. He is possessed by such a need for power that he will never rest and stop at nothing in overcoming obstacles in his single-minded pursuit. This tenacity has proven both Belphazore's greatest strength and greatest weakness, as it has allowed Belphazore to learn everything he needed to take control of the Underworld but has left him oblivious of forces uniting together to overthrow him. Combat Style: Domination. That is Belphazore's primary goal. Using a mixture of magic and unstoppable attacks Belphazore will grind you down until there is nothing left, until you actually want the end to come. He likes to deal with multiple problems at once, and this is where his long, sweeping scythe, perfect for assaulting many enemies at once, has become the Gatekeepers greatest asset. Special Abilities: Belphazore has the strength of ten men and is a expert weapon wielder, but beyond that, his physical powers are average. He makes up for it with a adept knowledge of magic, primarily in attack and black ritual magic. He is knowledgeable in the magical art of Astral Projection, in which his spirit leaves his body and can wonder around, unseen, allowing Belphazore to learn a great many things, like what his enemies are doing, and so, prepare. He is also skilled in possession; the art of taking someone else's body and using it for his own. He now primarily uses these arts when he is forced into battle; nowadays, Belphazore rarely leaves his childhood castle, instead, preferring to plan from there. Signature Weapon: A Scythe once used by his father. Is is twice the size of a regular one, has a handle wrapped in black silk, and has a permanent bloodstain along the blade. Personal Add: As the Gatekeeper, Belphazore is more likely to allow heroes who have entered his service to leave more than others. Also, the title of Gatekeeper extends much farther than that; it also means Belphazore is a keeper of sacred knowledge, arcane magics and information about the Underworld that could give people under his command an advantage over others. Secret: Let me know if anything needs to be changed, or if he seems overpowered.
Hydra of Ages
The line, "so powerful Belphazore managed to obtain the job of Gatekeeper, which allowed him to decide which spirits could be let in and out of the Underworld" needs to be changed. Souls entering and exiting the Underworld are natural occurrences that even the strongest demons have no control over; a damned soul will always appear in the Underworld, and a human who has repaid his karmic debt will always leave, no matter which rituals or bonding spells have been used to keep them in place. It's suspected that high-ranking Angels are the ones who decide this, but nobody really knows for sure. Other than that, seems good.
Quiksilver
Yeah. I thought that might be one of the things needed to changed. radio414
Name: Sissilis. It's better if you pronounce it with a heavier "S" sound, but she's dead, so... yeah. Species: Arassion. A cruel mix between man and serpent. Patron: Nobody yet Physical Description: Starting at the head and working your way down, Sissilis has what appears to be a snake-like head, complete with scales, forked tongue, and reptilian eyes. Continuing down the body, Sissilis is shaped like a normal female humanoid specimen. Two arms, two legs Each arm ends in five claws that that serve perfectly well as hands. At the neck, the scales from the head begin to thin out, continuing like this all the way down the body until, at the bottom of her feet, the scales are nonexistent. In terms of size, Sissilis stands at a 5' 6" and weighs 115 pounds. Lithe build normally, but the way her internal body organs work changes that build depending on certain factors. Clothing-wise, Sissilis wears not much more than a toga-like piece of fabric. Wrapped around her waist is her whip, something that never leaves her sight. Bio: Sissilis was always facing death around every corner. Born on the streets, she had to learn to fight fast, and how to steal, even faster. It was horrible. She was continuously beat in public, and the rich sobs didn't blink. So she had to find a way to get revenge. To take the rich of the community, and turn them into Arassion corpses. Personality: Sissilis is more of.a silent type. She always tries to carry out orders first, then more orders. It conceals the multiple plots that she has against everyone she meets. Most do not get carried out, but it's still in her nature to have a plan to end each person she runs into. Death: She shouldn't have done that. One of Sissilis' many plots actually happened. It was an attack on another species, or, to be specific, their leader, who was already nearby. She had gathered her weapons, and set off. After getting past the bodyguards, Sissilis was attacked by her target, something she was not completely expecting. He disarmed her quickly, then ran his blade through her stomach. In 12 minutes, she was dead. Combat Style: Sissilis prefers more finesse during one on one combat, her whip letting her reach swordsmen before they can engage properly. If disarmed, she draws a small object that looks like a dagger, and continues fighting, albeit at a small disadvantage. Special Power: Sissilis has the ability to, given around two seconds, to manipulate the location of her vital organs. This allows her to avoid being killed once an object strikes where her heart should be. She still might bleed out, but she can survive a little bit longer. Signature Weapon: A style of whip with a small dagger blade at the end, increasing the range of what is normally a very close-range weapon. Resume: Sissilis is not a very good messenger, because of her heavy emphasis on the letter S, making understanding her a pain. However, you don't need to talk on the battlefield. Damiano Tosē
. . . Excellent RP. It did take me quite some time to finish.
Name: Lars Isley Species: His father, Rigardo, was a full grown lion demon king, making his mother, Crystal, a human. He is a humanoid lion. Patron: None yet. But there will be Demon Lords that will approve of him. Physical Description: Keeping the father side of him still in permanent, working from the head down, Lars has a lion head with a mane, silver lion eyes, sword-like fangs, and a nose similar to most lions. Counting down the body, being a humanoid lion, Lars has fur all over his body, mainly on his head as a lion male and down his back and having a goatee on his chin. The body shape he resembles is of an athletic body-builder, but with more muscle. His hands are smiliar to human hands, instead of fingers he have lion claws instead. Moving on to the legs, he still has humanoid legs, more bulkier then an average human legs. In size term, He stands at 3 meters and weighs above 300 pounds, mostly muscle. His body type is that of a muscle size body builder. The clothes that he wears... he likes to look professional and well groomed when doing battle or going anywhere. He primarily wears a black long sleeve button up shirt with a white tie in perfect condition. He wears black dress pants with a small white vest over his black button up shirt. He wears no shoes or socks, keeping his white humanoid lion feet out in the open. Bio: Death was everywhere. Everywhere Lars went, he struck fear into the people that saw his humanoid lion self. But it was not always like that. In his human form, he was a quiet, calm person who wanted nothing more then to live his life. But he was beaten in public. Living in the streets, he had to adapt to their environment, stealing, killing, fighting, he had to learn everything and fast. Until death came to him one day when he was shot in the chest, he was lucky. He traded in his soul for power and speed. Death granted his wish. Now all he wants is revenge. The only way to do that is take off the rich from society and turn them into lion bones and corpses. Being the son of a lion demon king and a human, he was respected greatly by those around him. He was not a rich kid at that point, because his father died in his absence of returning home. His mother died of sickness. Lars tried his best to help his mother. Now having no mother or father to guide he had to learn the hard way, the way of the streets. That's when everything came into place about him. Personality: Lars doesn't care about anybody but himself. He shows pity for those who are weak and kills with remorse. He is the laid-back, quiet, calm type that anything and everything does not catch his attention. Aside from the calmness of his personality, he seeks revenge against those who did him wrong and lusts nothing but blood. He is cruel, yet kind. He's ruthless, fearless yet shows no weak point or soft spot. Death: The death of him was quite revolting. But it had to be done. His death occurred when he was sent to kill another species, well to be precise, their leader who was already coming for them. The only weapons he needed were his claws as he sat out on his mission. Easily dismantling the weaklings, he targeted his sights onto the lord. But unaware of the lord's speed, Lars was struck in the chest where the heart is. He felt the blade ran down his organs. In less then 10 minutes, he felt everything going black. His death finally took over his body. Combat Style: Being smaller then his kind and mostly his father, Lars relied more on his correspondingly superior speed and agility in battle. For long-range and surprise attacks, Lars could extend his claws at high speed. His control over this skill was so great he could bend and change the trajectory of his elongated claws, allowing him to strike opponents above or behind him. Special Abilities: Lars primarily uses his superior speed and agility in battle. He can extend his claws at greater speed and at greater heights. For being struck in the heart and further below, he regenerates his limbs at high speed. But it only works from the neck below. He can easily be dealt with decapitation. Signature Weapon: His signature weapon is always and will be his claws. He can extend them at greater speed and can bend them easily. Resume: "Silence is golden." That's what he always say. He does not talk when it comes to a mission or battle. He just nods and leaves, no questions ask. He knows his job and what he has to do. He's not a very good messenger but if it comes down to brute force, he has no problem with it. Secret:
Brimtosis
Though I'm good at RP's, I'm not going to be a demon lord (yet). Instead, I shall be a "hero". Name: "Spawn" Species: Though his apperence is that of a practical demon, he is infact a normal Hominoid (the reason he looks the way he does is described in the bio). Patron: N/A Physical Description: After the necromantic rituals preformed on Spawn while he was alive, Spawn was hunched, always slouching. Even so, he is still 6' 7", and is terrifying when at full height. Spawn's back has a long exposed spine runnig down his back, with elongated bony spikes pertuding from it. He also has some larger spikes pertruding from his back which lie flat until erected by a muscle at the bottom. His head is malformed bellow his eyes. He has a bald scalp and yellow eyes. His face is elongated into a tube, which is between 1 and 2 foot long. It is muscley and lined with teeth on the inside, and at the end is his gaping circular maw, whith eight giant sherated teeth pointing inwards, but angled slightly outwards to help gather food. He also has a slithering long, thin black toung, which is contantly licking the outside of his maw and hunting for more scraps of food, or other beings that are edible, to grab and devoure. On his left shoulder, he has three sinewy tendrils that end in long black tallons, with two small thumb-like apendages with small claws on the end. They each have a kind of sentience of their own, only controlled when needed. His left arm and right arm are very different. His left arm is lined with muscles, with small spines pertuding from the joints. It ends in an almighty claw, so large it is almost always slung under his head, to heavy even for his arm to hold up for a long time. The right, however, is a combination of three arms, the first and third being excedingly long but normal looking, possibly a bit more muscley than a usual arm. The middle arm mostly ends before the elbow, with a rusted broard sword blade stiking out of it. The arms look as if they had been torn away from each other, with sinues and skin the only joining material between them. His body is a bit broader at the shoulders than a normal hominoid, and it is also has more muscles than possible. Also, his skin is a murky light green His legs are also very long, but with an elongated foot, making him stand on the balls of his feet. Each toe ends in a claw, black as night. His speach consits of a very deep voice, with complementry growls, gags, roars, slurps, gargles and other unplesent noises. He seems to wear a pair of jeans that are ripped from the knees down. Bio: His name lost to him, Spawn was once a charmer in his city. But, a necromancer in the city army kidnapped him, and conducted a ritual on him. He lost his hair, his eyes went yellow, and many other thing happened to him. Blood had burst from his body all over, and vomit burned the cage he was in. He was then used, along with others like him, created by the same proscess, but with varying results, in battles, where he would cold bloodedly say and devoure all in his path. He had no more remorse, and he had become more like a beast than human. Now, even if the process could be reversed, he has changed, and will never be the same. Personality: Instinctive. Animalistic. Beast-like. A hunter. Death: He was slain in battle by thirty soliders with swords, hacked to peices and cremated. Because he was so impure and "evil", he was not allowed into Paradise. He may not even get reincarnated. Combat Style: He likes to crush and devoure his opponents. He fights dirty, and it is almost impossible to fight him fairly. Special Abilities: He gained regenerative abbilities to remake his limbs or tendrils. Signature Weapon: He carries no weapon, as he has no need for one. Resume: -Very efficient. -Hard to take down. -Will not rebel. -Is practicaly a demon. -Makes the hirer more intimidating. Secret: N/A
