The Covenant's lost on the Halo Rings left devestaion throughout the universe, but was it really all just Master Chief and the Arbiter? No it was not. Throughout the universe different squads of men and women of the UNSC fought to win the war, though not all their stories were shared. The battle of Oynx, the space war of Augustus, and others. These unspoken of fights allowed the Master Chief and Arbiter to have thier victory. The names of these people are unknown or were they. As the story begins, the truth of all these fights become clear, and those people shall have their names remebered.

The covenant forces have been persistent over the past 5 days, leading to midnight watches and tighter guard around the frontline base. As I was in my office waiting for the next report from the Major, a young soldier came in. He was in what appeared to be an ODST suit, though it was silver instead of black. He approached my desk and studdered as he began to talk. "Um, sir, I have order's from the Major to have a lead a scouting mission my 1:00 tomorrow." He seemed gentler than the other ODSTs. I rose from my seat and walked around my desk. "Soldier, inform your squad outside to pack there gear and get ready to move, you too, um, sorry I didn't catch what your name was" The man's doubt suddenly seemed to go away as he spoke up with the admost confidence. "I am Gunnery Sergent Cortez sir, sorry for mentioning so eariler" He left my office as he went to tell the other troopers of our orders. We had 10 squads of 6 at out base. We only we needed the one squad to scout the base, but we needed insurance policy of what the covenant were doing. I called up a certain soldier I knew could help out. I called up the frontline bases main AI. "Spring, I need you to send me for Spartan 209, he going on the mission with the scout squad" She looked at me with a stare and disappeared with saying a single word as usual. I was gazing out the window when a Warthog showed up, driving its wheels straight through the snow. the spartan hopped out of the warthog with his blue visor glistening as the flakes fell down. His light blue armor camoflouging him in the snow. He walked up to my door and came in. "Sir" he said in a strong voice "Spartan 209, Mattew Lonez reporting in." I responed to him "No need to be uptight Spartan. We need you to head the scouting mission on the covenant activitiy. Spring will guide you in the Warthogs, but her range is limited. Pull out once we lose contact. I don't want any unneeded loses." "I understand sir." he said and he walked out the door. "Spring" I commanded "Set one of your contacts on the front Warthog Lonez is getting into and make sure they pull out" She didn't say anything, but I knew she understood. As I watch Cortez and Lonez get into the Warthog with about 5 other ODSTs, I thought things were going to be alright. Now I know I was wrong
