evilfusion
I actually liked that part. Placido is pretty much the only 5D's villain that had enough badassness to prevent a lead character's asspull until next episode. That was actually a brilliant move made by Konami. I usually try to forget that Yusei is going to win everytime I watch the episode. I'm pretty sure that on TV Tropes, Placido's transformation falls under COMPLETE MONSTER. or something like that. I dunno. The transformation scenes from him and Jose are kinda funny to me. Don't mess with Yusei's city. He will kill you. I honestly don't like too many characters with helmets. Especially Aki and Team Ragnarok. They just look awful to me, imo. Brave's kinda fits though. So does Harald's.
Don't get me wrong, I liked the twist. I even thought its effect on Yusei was great. And the next episode was just awesome, with Yusei struggling with all his might just to survive each turn. No, not the transformation itself (that's probably Narm), but what makes Placido a complete monster is how devastating his powers are after the transformation. All that glass exploding is what made Yusei ram him, and if you pause a moment to consider how easily destructive and powerful Placido's transformed state is...yeah, he's a total b-tard. But he's an awesome one. I dont know. Placido looks better without his hood/helmet.
Dementuo
I have to agree. Placido looks good without his helmet, and looked damn amazing after that transformation sequence. However, just as the regular cards (released in japan as V-Jump Promos), Grannel is still by far the best. However, Wisel is quite useful too, being able to negate Spell cards. Mix in a Mirage Dargon or a Pitch-Black Werewolf, and you've got a clear field. Still, Wisel is by far one of the best in the anime, being the most developed, as well as the second-most powerful. Most being Grannel, of course. I mean, in the anime, Grannel is EXTREMELY broken: Can absorb defeated Synchro Monsters Can absorb Synchros anyways Inflicts piercing damage Prevents its own destruction each turn Uses absorbed Synchros as shields Can use absorbed Synchros to attack with ATK = Life total That's 7 effects, all of which could be exploited and increased to make it overly broken. Take a look at Wisel mixed with Skiel Carrier 5: Can absorb synchros Prevents its own destruction each turn Negates an attack each turn I'm sure there are a couple I'm forgetting for each of them, but still... At least Grannel loses a few effects in the TCG: Can absorb Synchros Can Special Summon absorbed Synchros in DEF mode ATK = Life Total Obviously, not as broken.
Well, only the absorbed Synchros deal piercing. There is no confirmation yet that anime Grannel can prevents its own destruction once per turn. That's the Tag Force 5 effect. Anime Grannel does this: -Infinity: ATK/DEF= LP. Can presumably absorb Synchros. ATK increases by the ATK of the equipped Synchro. -Top: Negate a Synchro monster's effect when you attack. -Guard: Absorbed Synchro takes the attack. -Attack: Absorb Synchros destroyed in battle. Those Synchros can be attack once per turn as if they were monsters and inflict piercing damage. -Carrier: ...I don't know... OCG Grannel's ATK is 1/2 LP, not equal. Wisel was most developed against Yusei in 108-110. It had the following effects when upgraded: - Wisel Infinity: Absorbs Synchros, gains their ATK. - Wisel Top 3: Negates 1 S/T per turn. - Wisel Attack 3: Piercing Damage. - Wisel Guard: Intercepts attack - Wisel Guard 3: Intercepts attacks, spared from destruction in battle once per turn. - Wisel Carrier: Immune to opposing destruction effects. - Skiel Carrier 5: Negate 1 attack per turn. Inflict 300 every time an opposing monster is destroyed in battle.
Dementuo
Stupid me, I said equal to, instead of half. And to think that I got pwned at least 5 times by Grannel and Wisel both...
Lexadin
So you're talking about Anime Grannel's brokeness? Imo, all vilians should have that broken cards to counter main character asspulls.
evilfusion
And a lot of vilains do. The Machine Emperors in general are pretty broke against main characters, due to Synchro reliance. Grannel is just in a league above Wisel and Skiel, in terms of brokenness. Remember, Machine Emperors are dubbed "Synchro Killers". Accel Synchros are the evolution of Synchro, that have effects to counter the Machine Emperors (namely the RFG dodge). Grannel's effects not only counter the Accel Synchros, but doesn't even use the normal "I activate my Emperor's effect..." option that Jack took advantage of to dodge for the turn, so the negation means "screwed Synchro" followed by "screwed duelist" as Grannel absorbs it anyway. Lexadin
Well you got a point there. Though the amount of ATK Grannel can have is rediculous. Also on a unrelated note: I almost got 12k posts.
evilfusion
Well, from the looks of it, Jose would probably have been screwed if it weren't for their plan with Infinite Spirit Machine, since Grannel only would have had 4000 vs Scar Red's 5500. Since their plan worked...we're looking at a guy with 12000 LP and a monster that will OTK you no matter what it attacks, plus with all its effects. Ovedrive
In latest episode, when Scar-Red attacks one of the Crow's monsters (Idk really what monster, I don't remember), I like when Jose says: "Go you brainless Synchro Monster; attack your own companion!!" (For brainless Synchro Monster, he means Scar-Red Nova Dragon) Lololol Grannel is extremely broken. I think that it's probably the most broken monster in 5D's
Agreed. But something I find funny (I don´t know why) regarding Grannel Attack is that its basically an advanced version of Goyo Guardian since both basically steals your monster and uses it against you after defeating it. Damn, Wisel was kicking his ass though. I think they were referring to how he looked during and after the transformation. I have to agree though, Placido was quite the monster with his transformation. Neo Domino City was being torn to pieces by his power. Oh yeah, Placido is a definite jackass. With that crazy hairdo, you'd hate to see it covered by a helmet/hood. evilfusion
For the hell of it, I rewatched episodes 107-110. A few things jumped out at me. -Does anyone else think Placido looks a little too girly/slender when he jumps off the building in 107 (during the time he's getting rid of his white cloak/hood)? It's...really unnerving. What is with his pose while falling? - That transformation sequence is still uncomfortable to watch. - Yusei and Lucciano's reactions to seeing Skiel Carrier 3. Lucciano's was, and still is, incredibly hilarious. I don't know why.

evilfusion
I have 2 Piscu, 2 Uru, and Chacu Challhua. I got the Piscus I think for like $10 each (or was it $10 for both?)...and I bought the Urus and Chacu for $18 total. This was back when they first came out, so they were still considered decent/good then. Uru's my favorite, so I don't care even if they aren't worth much.
