CrystalCyae
Osanimu held her breath as the yellow dome appeared, ans sighed when it dissapeared. Resonably disorented, she took a couple of deep breaths, and looked around. Judging by the appearence of this place, it's probably been at war or had a battle recently. Bending down to have a closer look at her surroundings, she noticed a charred object. A small doll. Feeling sick to the stomach, Osanimu decided to check everything in her backpack, knowing, from experience, that they could have well turned into some little monster, or something that would be rendered COMPLETELY useless. Opening her backpak and peeking inside, she sighed with relief again. As of yet, her stuff had turned into something random, so that was good in the least. encapturer
Pearl though it odd that this blond haired man offered her his assistance. He was rather discreet about it, too, which was even more bizarre. She wondered if he had any idea what she was planning, but her train of thought was interrupted by the dimensional warp beginning. She would just have to ask him about it later. ~~~ Once in the new world, Pearl immediately took stock of her equipment. A quick glance revealed nothing *visually* changed, though she was leery about operating electrical equipment besides the warp device; after all, it could explode into smoke if some of the internal components changed into other things. Her clothes seemed fine as well, which was good. It'd suck if these warps had to be done while they were naked. For now, she took out her notepad and pen and began writing down what she observed. It seemed like the group landed in a war-torn world, but from what would need to be seen. She wondered briefly what ID this universe had, and wished she had an identifier on hand. Of course, she could probably just ask Maxie if his device had such a function, but she had a feeling that would just cause strife within the group. And right now, they needed to be united. The Warden
OOC: I regard each verse as a single universe, hence the usage of multiverse and universe. Multi for multiple and uni for single ya dig? I'm just using Multiverse more as a name than to define it. Maxie looked at the device and pulled out a thin metal stick from the side. A holographic projection was formed between the two, projecting information onto itself. Maxie read it quickly and betrayed a quick grin. He returned the stick as the hologram vanished. 'Well Keith, looks like you might need that gun of yours this time. Okay everyone listen up, cause I'm only going to explain this once. We are within Multiverse 212493. This is an earth that originally was quite passive and none of the wars we had in our occured in this world, it was an ideal utopia. However, by sheer coincidence a militaristic alien invasion force was dumped by a wormhole into our solar system. They found the place right for the picking and invaded earth. Most of the invasion was a success, save for one flaw. In this universe, certain humans are capable of.....*sighs*, capable of summoning demonic shadows out of their backs. They fought back, no that wasn't a pun, and are now in a stalemate of power. It sounds like a cheesy cartoon premise, but the longer you stay here the less likely you'll consider it as a cheesy cartoon' Maxie explained. Premier Alexander Romanov
As Maxie explained, Keith checked the perimeter around where they had appeared, and made sure the coast was clear. He found a newspaper, and read it, coming to the same conclusions that Maxie had just explained. He ran back to the rest of the group. Keith loudly changed settings on his assault rifle from single-shot to burst mode, cocked it again, and smiled as he now had the group's attention. "This looks like my kind of place, being a warzone and all. Think these aliens can take a few rounds from my assault rifle, or do you reckon I need to get out a bigger gun?" Ignore them plz!> "What! Demons rising from peoples backs! YIKES!" Osanimu wanted to scream. Taking a deep breath, she thought, "What the......I thought I left all the Demons back in Multiverse 457218! And here, they're seemingly more dangerous.." Glancing around at all the charred buildings, large craters and such, she shuddered. "If they can spread distruction is such a widespread area, imagine what they could do to us." Taking another deep breath, she turned to Keith. "I think just using the assaullt rifle is fine, just make sure you have back-up ammo in case it runs out."
The Warden
'It is unfortunate really, this place. It had the chance to be a utopia, now every human who is alive is just a war-torn refugee or a weapon to be used against the alies' Maxie sighed, it was sad to be back, almost. There was a sudden explosion and a few humans ran across the street in direct view of the alley. Sensing the danger, Maxie ran out into the shed. A hideous cross between a dog ad a reptile was standing before him. A chain was dangling from it's neck. It snarled at him, but Maxie closed his eyes and pressed both his hads together. He first mumbled something continuously, but this turned into screaming as black fire covered his back. An eormous shadow literally burst from his back and came roaring upwards, standing near fourteen feet from his back to the tp of it's head. It was some form of bat creature with long thin arms and large claws. Fifteen feet diametre wings spread out from it's own back. Maxie opened his eyes, they were dark red and mean. He roared simultaneously with his demon as it brought a claw down and crushed the life out of the beast. The demon withdrew into his back and he sighed, his eyes still red. The humans who had been running had fled, so Maxie returned to the others, acting as if nothing had happened.
Premier Alexander Romanov
Keith was amazed at what Maxie had just done, and was speechless and motionless for a few minutes, until he recomposed himself, shook his head, and started searching in his dimensional backpack. "Alright. That's it. Maxie, you are officially off of my 'No Kill' list. That was epic, man." Keith went up to Maxie, and got down on both knees, tears in his eyes. "Maxie, can you please teach me how to summon a shadow monster out of my back? Please? I'm quick to learn!"
Time Psyduck
Ivor merely raised his eyebrows at the sight of Maxie summoning something from his back. He'd seen a lot weirder, but it was interesting that he'd been able to do what just happened to be an unusual trait of humans here. Sure, there was that theory about things adapting to meet the physics of each universe, but he'd never really noticed the phenomenon - besides, the fact that he'd managed to summon that thing on the first try without much difficulty was in itself unusual. The reaction of the soldier was more of a surprise, however. The man who had been vying with the leader before was now pleading for that same person to teach him. If it weren't for the fact that he wanted to learn how to summon a monster, he'd have to wonder if personality didn't get affected by this theory as well. CrystalCyae
Osanimu raised her eyebrow high at what she saw. It was shocking to see Maxie summon a demon from his back, especially with no apparent effort, at least not on a high scale. "What the hell just happened?" She wondered. "Maybe....." Her thoughts broke off when she heard something strange. Turning back around, she noticed Keith begging Maxie to teach him how to summon one of those scary demons from his back. "OK, that's just creepy......." Osanimu shuddered slightly. She already disliked this mission, and it had hardly started. She pulled out her notebook and wrote, "This mission.....Already scared. First that creepy dome that sends us through the multiverses, then creepy demons, then Maxie summoning a creepy demon, now Keith is on his knees BEGGING to be taught. Admitedly, if Keith could summon a demon it would help us sufficently, but I don't think I need anymore creepy demons. I've had enough already, and I've only seen one! Plus, there is SO much more to come. I don't think this little girl is gonna make it home....."
The Warden
Maxie pushed Keith away. He grinned with smug knowledge. 'If you all really wish to know, this is the first officially sanctioned and documented travel to another multiverse. For those with basic grasps on grammar, that implies previous journies. I was one of a few volunteers, or guinea pigs who tested multiverse travel. I was transported to this multiverse and left here for a month before I could be retrieved. In that time I blended in and learned to summon my shadow to assist those who could. You see, I said that our bodies would adapt to each universe, but in our body's bid for survival, our bodies become like those who have the greatest chance of survival, ergo, the shadow summoners. In time you will all learn to call upon your demon whilst in this universe, it just requires dedication, courage and above all, faith' Maxie explained to them all, his red eyes slowly returning tot heir original colour. 'Also, be sure to check your outfits, because, if none of you noticed, my jacket has become a pseudo cape' he added, pointing to how his jacket lengthened with cape-like proportions to his feet. Time Psyduck
So our first destination is one where our guide feels at home. Well, since he wouldn't have any idea which universes that girl has been to, and he doesn't know who I am, I guess this was the best place to break everyone in. And we now have the ability to summon those shadow creatures, but does he think it will take that long to find this paper? I guess without any sort of communications network it could take a while to find it. At Maxie's suggestion he looked at his clothes. "Well they don't seem very different, but since I was wearing a cloak to start with, it can't be much more cape-like."
Catterjune
Finished in the briefing-type dark room, Helena was lead to the labs of the establishment. The bright lights and sterile look of the rooms seemed to blind her momentarily, as it took her an extra minute to get used to all the excess light. Within a short amount of time, the group approached a raised metallic platform, about 2-inches high, with a remote control on a pedestal that their leader Maxie conveniently grabbed. The metal felt cold to her feet, colder then the tiled floor of the lab, as she hugged herself awkwardly. "Uhh..." she stated, beginning to have second thoughts about this whole mutli-universe thing. But before she could complain rightly, the button was pressed and the group was off. --- She looked about, a dark gray sky with low hanging clouds. The world looked like she imagined the world looked during the second World War 2 from history class, or what she assumed the world would look like if an asteroid hit. However, before she could really take in the grim surroundings, a large explosion shook her, and a peculiar reptilian-dog monster appeared. She tried to cover her eyes and let out a high pitched scream, but found her body frozen and her throat too tense to draw in a breathe. However, before she could get into full panic mode, a huge demon sprouted out of their fearless leader's back. He remained entirely nonchalant about it, not particularly caring a demon had just exploded out of his back and finished off the reptile-dog hybrid. "Wh-" she stammed, before the demon returned to it's host. The military man seemed eager to learn how to perform a similar trait, but as far as Helena was concerned, having monster spring from outside her sounded terribly frightening and awful. If she couldn't do it, she'd not be particularly heartbroken over it. She heard the leader continue talking, saying they needed dedication, courage, and faith in order to continue. She rolled her eyes, pretty certain she lacked all of those. Informed to check her clothing, she complied, but found her white dress only looking more raggedy and worn. Blotches of gray, patches of slightly different coloured cloth, and small rips and tears here and there, and still no shoes. She walked over to Maxie, but only a step or two, not quite confident in standing on painful asphalt and concrete of the sidewalk-sections, and preferring the feeling of topsoil and dirt upon her the soles of her feet. "umm... y-you said it took you a month to learn to summon your demon." She awkwardly clutched her hands together, looking away from Maxie as she spoke. "We're not gonna stick around for a month though, are we?" She carelessly reached for her hair, before noticing it was tied back in a ponytail. "Uh-uh..." she stammered. "I mean, are the papers here or not?" The war-torn scene wasn't exactly a comfortable image for her to see.
The Warden
Maxie lookd at Helena, he had almost forgotten she was in the group. 'Actually, it had taken me two weeks. It took a month for me to be retrieved back to my original universe, our Earth so-to-speak. However, severe stress and having your life in danger can forcefully summon it as your body goes into a sort of...automatic stage. But hopefully it won't come to that; the device is registering heavily in this universe, meaning a page should be in it. Due to the dangers here it would be stupid for us all to seperate. This reduces our effectiveness, but I have some friends who may be able to help us' he explained, tussling his hair.
encapturer
In this universe, mechanical manmade devices seem to be unaffected, however, I have not tried to power them, for fear of them being unstable. Cloth is hit and miss, my labcoat seemed to be unaffected by the warp, however, most of my other clothing seemed to deteriorate rapidly. As expected, the mutation seemed to have a delayed reaction. Also, I am suddenly hungry; has the warp affected what I ate, or is it something else altogether... As Pearl followed the group, she was writing her discoveries into her notebook, complete with a sidebar with various notes scrawled along it. She held her labcoat closed with a two makeshift belts to keep her modesty, and figured she would get some normal clothing when she got the chance. She did hear about the demon shadow powers, but she didn't reply. Human mutations were well documented, but other mutations were sadly lacking, with only few proven examples. It was probably due to the fact that material that would survive multiverse travel intact was already discovered; the warp devices were proof of that. This project of hers would change that. What did surprise Pearl was the fact that Maxie had supposedly been to this universe before. It was kind of odd, but she was thankful that he knew some people in this world already. It allowed her to focus at the task at hand, namely, looking at everyone else's clothing and noting anything different or strange about it. Time Psyduck
Ivor noticed that his other clothes seemed to a little more worn out than the usually were - it had taken a while, since his clothes were far from new before, but he was sure they weren't quite this ragged before they'd left. He shrugged it off, since he seemed to have gotten off lightly compared to some of the others - the scientist seemed to have had to resort to belting her labcoat shut. He turned and looked down a narrow alleyway, but it was too dark to see anything clearly, and nothing he could see seemed to be significant. Besides, for the moment Maxie was familiar with his surroundings, so he'd let the group leader do the leading he clearly wanted to do. As he walked he focussed on his body. Doesn't feel too different, he decided, although there's something deep down...it feels like what I've felt in a couple of other universes, but there's a unique quality to this one. Does it have something to do with those shadow things, I wonder?
CrystalCyae
Osanimu instantly checked her clothes. Upon realising her skirt had shortened to a critical height, she blushed. "Dammit." Checking in her bag, she found a large jacket, which would easily cover up the skirt. Osanimu put it on, then checked her shirt. Luckily, it seemed ok, which was at least on good thing. Noting Helena's hair in a ponytail she checked hers. Somehow, it was in a long plait. "Ok, that I can live with." As it seemed nothing else had been tampered with other than her hairstyle and skirt, she smiled slightly. "Now, let's start searching for this sheet." Catterjune
She blinked, not looking forward to spending 2 weeks mastering a skill she didn't even want to master. She let out an exasperated sigh, like a teenager just being told she wouldn't be allowed to stay out late tonight. She looked around, not particularly moving from where she stood. She didn't particularly want to walk on the harsh and painful sidewalk, fine with stick around on the nice and forgiving dirt. Stooping over to look around her general area she picked up random medium-size rocks, before casually placing them off somewhere. "Any other important information, other then that the papers are in this universe?" She called out, trying to pick up and move a television out of the way. The Warden
'Important information?' Maxie repeated. he folded his arms and closed his eyes. 'Let's see, we're in a warzone. Aliens have invaded the planet and turned the world into said warzone. Besides I and Keith, none of you even have the closest glimmer of surviving this world if a battle breaks out. I'm pretty sure that's it. The papers are the most important thing right now, and I have some allies who might be able to help us. Hopefully their base is nearby, I haven't quite got my bearings in this area yet'.
Premier Alexander Romanov
Keith had checked over his own clothes, only to find that his outfit had not been altered in the slightest. However, his assault rifle had changed to become something a lot more powerful. He was now holding a huge weapon that looked like a trio of Gatling guns fused together, with a grenade launcher strapped on in between each barrel. The ammo feeder of his backpack had also shifted to accommodate his new requirements. Keith pointed the machine away from everyone, gently tapped the trigger, and a maelstrom of fire tore a nearby building to shreds. Interestingly enough, the giant monstrosity of a weapon didn't seem to be all that heavy. "Apparently, I'm getting a new gun in every world I visit." He grinned again as he re-lit his cigar. "I could get used to this."
The Warden
Maxie snorted and peeped out of the alley. He looked left and right only to see destroyed buildings, explosion riddled pot-holes and a crushed alien dog. 'Okay troop, we'd best be on our way unless you plan on getting vaporised; which I am certain most of you are planning. Sorry to wreck your plans but I don't plan on dying' Maxie declared. The coast was clear and he turned back. 'Make any final preparations quickly, we have to make this trip quick to avoid the aliens' he ordered, but eyed Keith eying his new toy. 'I have a special job for you Keith' he stated with an unusual grin.
Kōsuke Ueki
Zachary looked at the war-torn world and wondered how all of this makes any sense. "Hm, it's only the first universe to go to and we are on a suicide mission." he said to himself. Seeing the new gun Keith has supposedly obtained, he was a bit shocked, but impressed with the changes with each world as of now. "Never knew something like this could actually happen in this universe." He then turned towards Keith and asked, "Hey, you don't happen to have any more weapons with you at all, do you?" He wanted to be prepared, and he didn't want to die.
