Time Psyduck
Ivor looked back to the man who was quite clearly responsible for this operation. This one is likely to be the most troublesome, he decided, Since he has actual authority. That doesn't stop Master Chief Dixon from being a problem as well though. He may not be in charge, but he's confrontational enough that him and our leader may not get on. He continued to look from person to person, evaluating each of the other members of the team in turn. Then there's Pearl Veileron, who seems to be the one who knows about all the science. She seems a bit calmer though. As for the rest of them, they're just children. What sort of operation are they running in this place. I can understand the 'alien' girl, since I'm not much different, but why is this Helena girl here?
encapturer
That's a good way to boost morale, just go ahead and tell us we're all expendable, Pearl though to herself. She thought about making a snappy comment in response, but she decided against it. Instead, she went through her bag once more to make sure everything was in order. She had her laptop, a USB thumb drive, her notepad with pens, a pocket digital camera, solar power cells, an extra battery for the laptop, a prototype warp device used back in the lab, some food, an extra pair of glasses, and a large knife. With all of that in her heavy-duty, waterproofed backpack, she was ready to go. After taking stock of her gear, she looked around the room. Nobody else, save the consummate soldier Keith Dixon, had any gear on them she could see. "So, since you're our leader Maxie," Pearl began looking at the man. "I take it you have prepared gear for everyone to take with them?"
The Final Messenger
Steve was completely zoned out at the start of the conversation, the only words his head picked up were 'magic' 'documents' and something about the 3 Gulf Wars. Then he heard something about leaving people behind and he took action, "so of you're jus' gonna leave all the dead weight behind, then why the h*** am I here? Becuase going on a super awesomely bada** adventure doesn't sound like a punishment for breaking into a secret government facility, it sounds like I won a freakin' contest." Steve sat back down in his chair and put on his not-so-innocent look, complete with the interlocked hands and fingers, and the wide eyes. This is what I get for breaking and entering... Maybe when I come back I'll try it again and see what I get... Steve plotted.
The Warden
Maxie looked over to Pearl, thi was too easy. 'In regards to the gear department, most of you were advised to bring what you want, not that it matters. Like our bodies too would alter to a change, so would the gear we bring along. Some universes would render our equipment totally moot, but for the safety of the mission, the device we will be using to cross dimensions has some features that makes surviving less complicated. Now, there will be one last question before we begin our little excursion' Maxie stated, totally ignoring what Steve shouted and painfully waited for whatever stupidity had to flow in his direction. encapturer
((Since everything is changing, whenever we warp, I'd like to know what our stuff turns into once we go to another dimension. Yes, this includes her fingernail, if we aren't human in the next world.)) "None from me," Pearl said, waving her hand at Maxie dismissively. She would need to change her plans around if she were to collect data in the field and her recording equipment were busted. Well, there was always the prototype device; presumably that would be able to warp without changing into something useless. But unlike Maxie's completed version, it was unstable; thus it wouldn't be of much use except in emergencies. Still, with this setback she was able to plan to get some data, even if she ends up having to memorize most of it. Pearl bit off a sizable piece of her fingernail on her middle finger, and stuffed it in her pocket. Good old fashioned scientific method, she thought to herself, proud that nothing will stand in the way of her quest for knowledge. "Well, ready when you all are," Pearl said with the same disinterested tone of voice she did earlier. After all, this room was boring. All the cool stuff will happen once they make their first foray into the multiverse.
CrystalCyae
Osanimu watched the scene unfold. "God, I'm stuck with 1 moron, a shy girl who doesn't seem that bad, a robber, some random guy and a scienctist. Just GREAT..........." She thought. "Afterall, that officer moron is probably gonna kill me before the multiverse dangers do........ Or if not, I'll be left behind because I'm "dead" weight." She frowned. "And plus, being a teenager will get me treated badly by the big guys none stop......." She thought over why she was here. "s***, where are you Saiyr? You're the only company I'll except in this place. Besides, we knew how to work together, whereas this team is more content with arguing...." Premier Alexander Romanov
Keith patted Pearl on the shoulder. "Don't worry. I've got all of the gear we'll need in my backpack." He motioned to his fancy futuristic backpack. "This thing was given to me on loan from this organization that you work for and I have been hired by. It apparently uses the same concept as the portal to access a pocket dimension where all sorts of stuff from ammo to emergency rations and everything in between. Whatever happens, we will be prepared, Plus, we could even store the papers in here for safe-keeping." Kieth then went p to the boss. "We're going to have some sort of paper detector, right? Because a universe is, like...you know...big."
The Warden
'Really? I never would have that. My my my, a universe, is, big' Maxie said with mock suprise. This suprised face turned back into his normal aggravated face. 'Yes I was perfectly aware of that and the scientists also did as well. The device used to transport has, as I said, functiosn that will make surviving less difficult. It can instantly obtain data on a universe and explain it to us clearly. It is capable of detecting the signature of a document, give or take a multiverse or two. All we have to do is push a button, blend in to a universe and find the document before moving on' he explained.
Time Psyduck
So we've got tracking devices, of a sort, Ivor mused. Well, it was to be expected. I doubt even this guy would even consider this ragtag bunch remotely capable of scouring untold numbers of universes for small and inconspicuous things. Still, they're important enough to muster this team even if they can't be read by anyone other than the natives of this one, so I really can't rule anything out. "Well, it makes the task easy enough, discounting whatever happens to reside in the worlds we end up visiting of course," he noted. "So, where's the dimension-hopping whatever we'll be using?"
Kōsuke Ueki
Looking at all of the others in the room and all that has been explained, Zachary remained silent, his head down and his eyes closed, as though he was asleep. He didn't want to say anything but he didn't want to be seen as an outcast throughout the mission. Then his very conscious told him to be a man and speak up. He then sighed and opened his eyes, ready to speak. "Maybe when we enter the next room we might find the devices we need." he replied to Ivor's question. The Warden
Maxie nodded, flickers of intelligence and deductive reasoning. 'Yes, in the next room there are te labs where we shall begin our little journey' he explained and unlocked the door. He opened it and the sound of an explosion was heard. 'Ignore that, the scientists are just playing around with another little experiment of theirs' he explained. 'Now everyone, very kindly exit through here and into the labs so we may begin' he said and entered through the doorway into the labs. Many scientists were walking around with coils of wires, but Maxie was headed towards a pedestal with a remote-control like device on it.
CrystalCyae
Osanimu sighed; finally it was going to begin. Finally her chance to get home was about to start. "OK Osa, keep cool, you don't want to blow it and be left behind as dead weight." Taking a deep breath, she followed the others into the lab. "Wow!" She couldn't stop that sound escaping. In every direction, machines of every shape and size where being tested. A small group of scienctists were fiddling with wires, another group was attempting to make small scale model of a intergalactic space station, by the looks of things. Osanimu noticed the space station was supposed to float, and generate it's own oxygen. So many other scienctists were doing similar experiments. "Wow Osa, there are more experiments in here than there are on Planet Scientifus!" She thought exicitedly. Then she noticed the small remote control-like object, sitting on a pedestal. She noticed Maxie heading towards it. "I guess that's the multiverse travelling device.." Osanimu reasoned, still excited.
Time Psyduck
So he's in this group as well, Ivor thought, as the person he had previously thought to be asleep woke up. At least it was another person who actually seemed old enough to be here. Ivor moved forwards and followed Maxie though the door, looking at the scientists and their work with mild interest. So this world has science and magic, he thought, I guess it wouldn't be a surprise that they've actually managed to develop interdimensional travel. He moved to the side to peek over a scientist's shoulder for a second, to get a better look at what he was doing. "Huh," he muttered, as he continued on towards the machine.
encapturer
Pearl never really understood why they left the device in this room if they were going to use it. After all, She *hates* it when people needlessly intrude on her experiments. These guys seemed to have more focus than she does, as they continued working, almost as like they were oblivious to what was going on around them. Over on the other side of the room, Pearl spotted some of her old coworkers. She raised an eyebrow, since while they did say they were being transferred, they did not know where. She did not want to interrupt them, nor cause a scene, since they did not know she was going to travel the multiverse when she left the team. That... and she took one of the prototypes with her when she left. It was officially marked as 'destroyed', but to be on the safe side, she just kept towards the middle of the group as to not be spotted. ~~~ The complete version of the device was a marvel to behold. It was small and handheld, and it could be mistaken for a remote control at a glance. Much different than the prototype she carried, which was nowhere near as refined. Once everyone was present, Pearl looked around and accounted for everyone that was in the room before. A ragtag group of people for sure; though they should all be useful for something, even if it was manual labor. Unlike some of them, Pearl didn't look excited and was mostly relaxed; after all, the universe-hopping didn't start *yet*. "So, leader," Pearl said. If one was paying attention they could hear that Pearl sounded like she anticipated traveling the multiverse. "I guess we're ready, huh?"
Kōsuke Ueki
"Wait a second!" shouted Zachary as he walked up to Pearl. "Since most of us are new at doing this, we must go through the actual guidelines of using these devices." He didn't mean to interrupt, but he had to make sure everyone new here, including himself, knew exactly how to use the devices and when to use them. If they didn't find out, everyone who's new would be clueless as to what to do and when to do it. He turned to Maxie. "So, what exactly are the rules and guidelines usage to these devices?"
The Warden
Maxie scoffed at Zachary's question. 'There is only one device which will remain on my person for the entirety of this journey, now everyone, please gather over on the conviant platform over there' Maxie announced, pointing at a raised metal platform. He took the device from the pedestal. 'Well, this is it, yet another gripping trip through multiverses I could care less about. Stupid scientists and stupid rebels, it was his fault for this, glad to know he was terminated and the others dealt with. God, I am going to hate this so much' Maxie thought as he followed the group to the platform.
Premier Alexander Romanov
Keith smiled as he lit up another cigar and put on a pair of polarized sunglasses that he had been carrying in his BDU's breast pocket. He also reached into his backpack, which opened up for him and extended a rack of fancy sci-fi weapons. He picked something similar to an assault rifle, grabbed it, loaded it, and attached the ammo feed to a slot on the side of the backpack, allowing him to use the virtually infinite amount of ammo available to him. "Alright boys and girls, let's rock and roll!" He triumphantly declared as he stepped onto the platform, ready to take down whatever came at him on the other side. CrystalCyae
Osanimu listned, and stepped onto the platform, her mind telling her two different things. "Run away! You ight not live to see your friend and family if you do this!" One half screamed. "C'mon Osa, this is your only chance at getting home. Don't blow it!" The other half shouted. Making up her mind, she stayed ont hat platform, waiting, then noticed Officer Keith taking out and loading a weapon. She opened her mouth to speak, but closed it. She knew she didn't want to anger that man, as doing so would probably get her killed by him before Maxie could stop him.
Premier Alexander Romanov
Keith saw that a few people were distressed at the fact that he had just loaded a semi-automatic weapon and was ready to use it. "Don't worry, guys!" Keith reassured the group. "This isn't for you. This is for whatever might be on the other side of this wormhole or whatnot. As long as you all stay out of my line of fire, you'll be fine. Besides, I'm not going to waste any of these bullets on you. These here are armor-piercing incendiary rounds, meaning they can plow through steel, and they explode a split-second upon impact. These are too expensive to waste on you all! I have about a dozen Glocks ready for civie use, either me killing civies or civies killing enemy combatants. And FYI, to me, you all are civies." Keith resumed his fighting stance on the platform, trigger finger ready to fire at a moment's notice. "I'm glad we had this little talk." He added. Time Psyduck
Ivor stepped up onto the platform as the soldier began to prepare a weapon. Of course he's preparing for what we find, he wouldn't be doing his job if he wasn't. Still, it might be awkward if whoever we meet turns out to be peaceful, so a little more subtlety might be in order. Oh well, he's the soldier, it's his call. He's brought guns to either give us or use on us? He's still an issue, like the guy with the device. He positioned himself at the far end of the platform to the soldier, ready to scout out what the other man would not be able to with the group at large in his way. Here we go, time to get back to what I do best.
encapturer
Pearl managed to fit her way onto the platform without shoving someone with either her body or her backpack. Fortunately, there was plenty of space. She took one last look at the others; she had only gotten to know a few of them, but as the journey continued she would. As she stood there, she couldn't even find herself worried about Keith; he's often rude, yes, but he's a soldier, and she's glad to have him on her side. However, she wondered how many people would stick by her if they knew of her secondary goal. Obviously Maxie would disapprove, but the others? Pearl shrugged. She'll find out when it happens, and she has a secret item if she *needs* to use it. Pearl took a deep breath once Maxie activated his device. "Here we go guys!" she said, with a smile forming on her face. Finally, a trip into the multiverse proper.
The Final Messenger
Steve stepped up to the platform, following the others in sync, just like what he'd been doing for the past.... Well he didn't know so he just kept it at 'the past'. I wonder if the multiverse has any good TV, that's really lacking in our multiverse, he thought, trying to remember the last good TV show he had watched, but sadly his mind went back afew YEARS and still didn't give a good answer. He sighed and Thought about books or comics, which, subsequently went back years also. He lightened up and started on a conspiracy theory he had thought up in his head just moments before, but he didn't speak it, he sign-languaged it, which was something he learned to do on a dare, just like almost everything else he learned that didn't have to do with school or cartoon characters. Kōsuke Ueki
"Hey, don't forget about me, imbeciles!" yelled Zachary as he ran and flipped onto he platform. He then crossed his arms and turned towards Pearl. "If you need any help, you can talk to me when we make it to the other side." he whispered to Pearl, trying not to blush. I have to admit, she is beautiful for a scientist; let's hope I don't end up putting the moves on her; that would not turn out well at all. he thought to himself, having feelings for Pearl. The Warden
'If everyone is satisfied with proving that their original age is five, we shall begin. I'll save you the bulls**t of some heroic speech, I'll just warn you that what you may see will be vastly different to what you are used to. Be careful and try not to die' Maxie announced from the middle of the group. He pushed a button on the remote and it crackled with bright yellow energy. Two jets of energy arced high above and carved a ring around the group, a yellow pale was created as they moved across until a bright yellow dome covered them. It hummed loudly and they were gone. ::Multiverse 212493:: The dome reappeared in a dingy alleyway and it dissipated quickly, revealing the group. Maxie seemed perfectly fine, though several of the others seemed disoriented. The world seemed very similar to the original earth, except several buidings had large impact holes and black markings on them. A layer of smoke covered the apparent city. 'Try to make sure you're all in one piece' he said whilst checkig the device.
Time Psyduck
((OOC: It seems to me as if you're mixing 'Multiverse' with 'Universe'. There are many universes inside a single multiverse, and people usually move between universes within a multiverse, not between multiverses.)) Ivor stood perfectly still as the reappeared outside, retaining his balance despite his left foot finding itself stood on nothing. He moved it back and found that it was merely a small hole, and placing his foot on solid ground, he looked around. It seemed this place had seen conflict fairly recently, judging by the damage to surrounding buildings. The black markings would probably explain something, if they knew what they meant. Still, looking around there didn't seem to be anything that would constitute an immediate threat, at least not from his direction. He leaned back over to Maxie, who was looking at the universe-travelling device. "So, what does you machine say about this place?"
