Live Aciton (Love It or Hate IT?)

I have noticed that people all over the net and in magazines give Live Action films negative coments if they have seen or played games, watched anime, or read a books, manga or comics on that particular Live Action movie. I don't think it is fair to do that to a movie, but even when I watch it is still hard to accept the story changes. What are your thoughts on the subject?

Resident Evil, X-men, Twighlight, Higurashi: When They Cry, Sailor Moon, and Lord of the Rings to name a few are some examples.

The issue lies in how farfetched the series is, in general, and how well you can get good actors/special effects to work.

Ex: A Bleach, Avatar, Pokemon, Digimon, Yugioh, Dexter's Lab, etc. Live Action is idiotic.

However

A Stephen King, Ted Dekker, X-Men, C.S. Lewis, Lord of the Rings, etc. will ACTUALLY work.

It all depends on the concept of the film and how it would work in terms of Live Action, would the effects be good enough to match the image it's trying to give off? eg, the explosion as a result of a kamehameha? I think the Dragonball live action film was just crap cause the director was a gimp and had no idea, but it might have been good if thoss kinds of areas were properly fixed,
