Frybread002
Whoa...Some heated rivalry... Well, if you(Quicksilver) and Aesir recall, I was making another character based on teh species that Aesir made. So I'm wondering if I could still make him. Oh yeah, I also apologize my friend, since I should've said something eariler, but I cannot see the picuture on the drawing you made for me (it has the little X on it, and the it's white)> I'm on a school computer, and it does not allow DA. So could you wait a little longer my friend till I see it?
Quiksilver
Yep, sure. I remember it, but in keeping with the new rules, could you make it a hybrid? That would be fantastic.
Brimtosis
Umm, it says that it is accepting, so I'll just make a species and character app. The inspiration comes from Warhammer 40,000 Name: Karilot History: Karilot is a race of insectoid-like monsters that have evolved rapidly to suit the environment of their ever-changing "food". They are a completly biological race, and don't relly on weapons or metal. They are constantly evolving, and at such a speed that not even the most wise race of all can tell when they will stop. They have also an insaciable appetite. They always fight land on planets in biologicaly crafted ships, then launch a swarm of "warriors" to destroy and devour. Then, all the biological materia collected is deposeted into pools of acid that digests them to make more "warriors". "Warriors" are a lose name for them. There are many different species of Karilots, in different shapes and sizes, and are specialised for different tasks (e.g. Heloroths have highly flamable liquids that are contained in sacks that can be sprayed though their maws of symboyit weapons, while Lithes are very fast with long singular tallons at the end of six arms that are melee specialists). But, even though they don't need to waste planetery resources for fuel, they need bio-mass to keep up their race and weapons. They can only get this by attacking on a planetwide scale and devouring all biological life they come across. They can also digest metal, but this produces hardly any minerals for them, so they only attack machine-races if nessicary. Though well adapted, they need powerful creatures (mentaly and physicaly) to not have to revert back to their insticts. This is where Comand Nodes come in. hey have a phycic link to all Karilots within a certain perameter. This allows a certain degree of control over their breathrin during battle. Homeworld: Strangely enough, they have no recorded home world. They may have evolved as a parasitic race on a starship, and them spread Appearance: Though they are not set in a certain shape, as they have managed to evlolve into a fully working race with many different strains, they all have the same physilogical aperance, and also have roughly the same parts to them. Most of them have hoofs, and long whip-like tails. They have a chest that is shaped like a ribcage with a thin layer of red skin covering it. They all have an exoskelital structure on their back, that protects them from fire and close range weapons. The bigger or more complext the creature, the probability it will have a tougher exoskeliton and more arms. Some are developed to go underground, some for airiel travel, but most for ground travel. They normaly have symboit weapons attached to them, and sometimes adhanced adrenalin symboits. They notmaly have gaping maws filled with sherrated teeth that could tear flesh in moments. Some have long tendrels dangling from their mouths, that have harpooned ends that can labotomise the enemy in seconds. All have a certain amount of intelect, but Comand Ndes have the largest IQ for their kind. Some have such a large IQ that they can tamper with phycological and mystic powers that many dont understand. Most have eyes, but some dont. The most freakish are labled "Spawners". It has been discovered that they have a myriad of Breeding chambers where they can spawn many smaller creatures, and produce more every few minuits. Miscellaneous: Strangly enough, they seem to always have to have a Command Node to lead them, or they get scrambled tactics, and revert to predators. Though this makes them easier to kill, it makes them more unpredictable. Spawners seem to be capable of limited command. Most are human size, but some are so large they are like star ships that can travel through the void of space and devour whole ships so they can awaken the Command Node and feed the entire swarm. It also seams that information from dead Karilots can be transmited as they die to the spawners and Command Npde so they can evolve to survive. Milky Way. Character app coming shortly. Quiksilver
I'm sorry, but I cannot accept the race. That biologically-created ships are a fanciful idea, since no living creature can exist in the vacuum of space; it's simply not feasible. Also, there was that line of many different types of Karilot; Without defining them all, I would have to put trust in that you would not abuse that power. I'm sorry, but frankly I cannot trust you with the choice to choose what powers a Karilot can have in any given moment. Also, I doubt the Karilot would have been able to evolve in these conditions; the majority of U.S.F. is not stupid. They would have dealt with this problem as soon as possible. Not accepted. Makο
Actually, the Zerg from Starcraft can survive the vacuum. Also, a species of exploding mushrooms from Metroid Prime can as well.
Time Psyduck
I'm guessing in this RP no living creature, or at least none of significant mass, can survive the vacuum of space. Obviously in other fictions some can (the Karilot are expies of the Tyranids in Warhammer 40,000, which also have biological ships), and in fact there are real life animals which can survive exposure to the vacuum of space, all be it in an inactive state: They're called Tardigrades, or Water Bears, and they're microscopic creatures which usually live in water, but when they get too dry they dehydrate and become inert. In this state, known as a Tun, they can survive huge extremes of temperature, radiation, and pressure, including the vacuum of space - NASA took some up and did some experiments. They can't cope with the radiation, although some of them did survive a full dose and revived from the Tun state. Thus living things can survive in space. The Tyranids in Warhammer fill the same role as the World Eaters here though, so in my opinion the Karilot shouldn't be in this RP.
Quiksilver
That is another of my reasons. However, though, as you said, the Tardigrades have to go into death-like state, known as Cryptobiosis, to survive such conditions. So, therefore, it is not a questions of whether or not organisms can survive in space, but if they can function or not.
Brimtosis
Okay. I get that I maybe was a bit too bad and controlative with the species. But, I have taken that on board, and so would like to try again. This time, they do need technology, and are not so diverse and over destructive. Name: Psychilorians {pronounced: Psy-Co-Lure-Ians} History: The Psychilorians are a very old race of creatures that are very mentaly powerful and technologicaly advanced. They started off as a small barbaric tribe of creatures that developed speech and an ability to see into the minds of others. They started to evolve rapidly, gaining technology, weapons and biological armour on them. They have also got emense brain power, and are very tough and large. But all this comes at a price; they have lost their vision, and every time they delve into their inner consiousness, they are at risk of going insane as they are eaten from within by their own psychic abilities. They primarely have their technology fuled by their will-power, and their ships are powered by so-called "servitors" (lesser beings that lack in mental power, but excell in psychic vision and technology). They joined the U.F.R in order to fight off the World Eaters, and gain information and technology to better their needs. Homeworld: Unknown. Their history records don't cover their origin. They now live on various planets. Appearance: The Psychilorians are a very strange looking race, not normaly what someone would asociate with mental power, but with physical prowess that can kill quite a lot of things using their bare claws. The avarage Psychilorian has two parts to their body: the lower half and the torso. The lower half is attached via a length of rib-like sinues under a skin a thick as a rhino's. Though this area is very suseptable to harm, it is very hard to hit, due to the fact that when they rear up on their hind legs only, it is still not that exposed. it has a long, thick and ridged tail that keeps it balanced, and a set of powerful legs that can surport its weight. It only has a bit of bio-armour covering where it is near the weak part of it's body. The torso is normaly raised, while the lower half is horisontal to the ground. The torso has muck more armour, mostly on its back with a large crest towering over its head, and the rest is on it's top shoulders and in front of its rib cage. It has four arms, all ending in lard hands with f didgets and tiped with long thick claws. The bottom two are useualy used for suport, and for running. The top two hold the weapons and are also claws. Their head is long, with a larg cerebrum cavity and armour acros the top, reaching to its jaw line. It has no eyes, but it has a gaping maw that is filled with razor sharp teeth, and a long worm-like toung with a barbed end. They have deep voices, and notmaly have weapons straped to their back. They prefer long ranged weapons, but excel at close range fighting, mostly because of their emese strength and the fact that they dwarf a human. Miscellaneous: Strangely enough, they resemble an old race of insectoid-like creatures that were wiped out in a cataclysmic accident... In truth, he travels in a fleet of small ships (he has 10 ships in his gang.) His personal ship - "Nameless/Phantom" - serves as the flagship, and his equiped with weapons, but sacrifices armor for speed. The other nine ships -"Worthless/Ghost" - use their small and nimble sizes to overcome the enemy. They possess incredible speed and armor. So in terms of firepower, they're not as powerful as the Nameless/Phantom, but use their numbers to out-power the enemy. *Crew:* His crew consists of 404 men, countin himself. Out those 404, he has 3 trusted generals. Lance O'naw -The One-Eyed Dragon General- (His last name literally means Enemy) He lost his father to Xingba-who killed him- during a raid. Becuase of this, Lance vowed revenge. But when Xingba joined the same crew as him, Lance was not able to settle his vengence, and instead settled for hating him. However, during one raid, Xingba saved Lance's life, who in-return gave up his hostillaty towards him. After a period of 2 years, the two became somewhat friends, but still dislike each other. It should be noted that he lost his left eye in the same raid when his father died. He wears a eye patch over his left eye, and has meduim length wavy hair, He commands 100 men under the name - "APACHU" - literally meaning "Fighting Men" or "Enemy" Their motto is "To our allies!! We Are FIGHTING MEN!!!" To our foes!!! We Are Their ENEMY!!!" He specializes in demolation, and explosives; anything that requires that goes "BOOM." But prefers stealth, and Sniping Weapons. Gan Xingba -The Rank Breaking General- When Lance raided his village, the two fought evenly. Making an impression on Seth. But when Xingba was told to retreat, Lance seen this as a defeat and followed him. Where his left eye was shot out. Supposedly, Lance yelled out "Remnants of my Father!! Blood of my mother!! I cannot throw this away!!" and ate his eye. Eventually Seth enlisted the aid of Xingba into his brew He has spiky golden-brown hair, and fashions a neck-lace, or belt bells over his clothing. He commands 100 men under the name "Inu" - literally meaning "Dog" or "Dogs" Their motto is "Since dogs use cordination and suprise their prey!! Our Bells will signal their death!!" He specializes in ambushes, and raids; anything that requires stealth. But prefers anything that goes "Boom." S'ai [no last name] -The Silient Sand General- (His name literally means Sand. You pronouce it as "Say) His background is shrouded in mystery. But when Seth found him, he was capable of Psionic powers. Nothing else to report but it should be notted that he is very calm, and passionate. He has spiky brown hair (which has now been dyed red by the color of blood/ His hair also resembles Reno's hairstyle from "The Final Fan"tasy series). He also wears a collar on his neck (the origins of which are unknown). He commands 100 men under the name "PSI-U-CORP" - short for Psionic-Universal-Corp Their motto is "If you can't them, and need them dead. We'll kill them without leaving our room."
